Chapter 17 - Extra scene 2

As nightfall approached, two figures sat on a bench, awaiting the arrival of their bus. The only illumination came from a nearby shop, casting a warm glow behind them.

The older gentleman, Grandpa Alfred, squinted into the distance, his wrinkles creasing at the corners of his eyes.

"Hey, grandson!" He called out to his companion.

Norman turned to face him, his eyes locking onto Grandpa Alfred's. "Yes, Grandpa?" he replied.

Grandpa Alfred gestured towards a distant restaurant, his trembling hand pointing accusingly. "Let's go get something to eat over there."

Norman, who had removed his glasses, put them back on to see the sign more clearly. Still, he struggled to decipher the writing. "Tough on the ou..." he muttered, straining his eyes.

Grandpa Alfred chuckled and playfully smacked Norman on the back of the head. "Tough on the outside, soft and squishy on the inside, you fool!" Norman winced, rubbing the spot to ease the pain.

"Ah, Grandpa, how do you expect me to see that far?" he complained.

"Even at my age, my eyesight remains as sharp as ever!" Grandpa Alfred's eyes twinkled with pride.

Norman marveled, praising his grandfather's remarkable vision. Born with poor eyesight, Norman had relied on glasses his whole life.

Grandpa Alfred let out a hearty laugh. "What do you expect, huh? This old bucket was once part of the Air Force you know, able to spot mountains from afar. These eyes are as sharp as an eagle's, hahaha!" He boasted, his eyes sparkling with mirth.
