Yuna trudged home, her feet heavy with guilt. Her conversation with the guard had left her feeling like she had uncovered a wrongdoing. The weight of her remorse was undeniable, lingering in her mind like a shadow.
(Flashback)
As she walked, her thoughts drifted back to her encounter with Norman and Grandpa Alfred. She cherished the brief moment they shared, grateful for a glimpse into a world she had never known - the joy of having grandparents. A soft smile graced her lips as she appreciated the love and warmth that grandparents could bring to one's life.
Suddenly, the guard's voice broke into her reverie. "Won't you go home?" he asked, his face poking out of his booth, his eyes piercing through his cap.
Yuna turned to leave but halted, as if struck by a forgotten thought.
"Earlier, the woman who came to visit me..." she asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"Oh, you're Yuna Pearce, right? You mean that tall one?" the guard replied, his accent noticeable.
"Yes... Why did you mention that she was my caretaker?" Yuna asked frankly, her eyes narrowing slightly.
The guard's expression turned puzzled. "Isn't she?" he asked, his English struggling to keep up with the nuances of the words.
"No. It says right here she's not my caretaker but housekeeper" Yuna argued, pointing to the logbook. The guard shrugged, his eyes apologetic.
"Housekeeper, caretaker, same thing," he said, his language barrier evident.
Yuna's frustration grew, her guilt and misunderstanding simmering like a pot left unattended. The guard's words had unintentionally added fuel to the fire, illuminating her misconceptions.
(End of flashback)
The walk home seemed to fly by, and before Yuna knew it, she was standing in front of her own front door, hesitating to enter. She felt a pang of guilt and anxiety, wondering if Kaida was upset with her.
'She must be upset, right?' Yuna thought to herself, replaying their earlier encounter in her mind. The thought of Kaida being hurt by her words made her feel terrible. She should have asked, should have clarified.
Gathering a few bits of courage, Yuna finally pushed open the door and stepped inside. The living room was empty, she dropped her bag and other belongings on the floor, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of Kaida. She headed towards her room, her feet heavy with apprehension.
As she passed by the dining area, a voice called out to her "Won't you have dinner?" It was Kaida, her voice warm and inviting. "Or should I bring it to your room?"
Yuna turned to face her, and her eyes met Kaida's usual smile. It was as if nothing was amiss, and Yuna's mind raced with confusion.
