Chapter 26 - The Message

The village of Azurethra is coming under siege if necessary steps are not taken, as they will be forced to surrender themselves to the rule of the Punt Kingdom if they take over the village. Amanirenas, leader and queen of the town, is one strong cold-hearted soul yet sweet and soft from the inside. She may be a hard nut to crack but has a calm soul which makes her the person queen for her people.

Amanirenas got to learn about the burning of their forest, which serves as the home to their guardian moon wings, but as it stands, their moon wings are on the flee from being burnt while some are smoked and killed by their traitors, the Punt people.

As Azurethra is getting under siege of the Punt people, it is a lovely morning Carthage. The people are on their normal daily activities while the king, Masinissa Linette Duah II, is having a wonderful morning with his family and some of the elders in the kingdom. It was as it there is a feast going on in the town and no one seem to be bothered or threatened by the news Temi once brought to them. They have actually let heir guards down since the group of investigators came with a negative news of any coupe being plotted.

As the king and his cabinet were having a good time in the early moments of the day, there rushed in emissary Soun, the emissary too Amanirenas of Azurethra, panting shakingly, bathed in sweat. Upon seeing emissary Soun, the king immediately requested him to enter the chamber to announce to them the reason for his visit at this early hour. As soon as Soun entered the kings chamber, he fell to his belly and began to rain eulogies on the king before speaking up his reason for coming.

It is tradition to rain praises on your rulers, especially Kings, in our ancient African Kingdoms. It signifies respect to the throne and to the King himself.

As Emissary Soun continues his eulogies on the king, he the king, sharply interrupted and asked him to pause the praises and state his reason. It obviously tells that nothing is alright in Azurethra.

King: Emissary Soun, put away those praises and speak up.

Emissary Soun: My King, the queen sent me to you on an urgent matter. Abomination has been committed on our land and it is sure to affect the whole kingdom at large.

King: What do you mean by that?

Emissary Soun: This morning as our people woke up to attend to their daily activities as always, it was observed that our moon wings have begin fleeing our forest and a dark cloudy smoke has covered the skies of our town. It was later reported to the queen that the forests are being burnt and our people are in danger.

On hearing this, the King quickly took his memories back when Temi came to warn the kingdom of a potential coupe to happen, yet the kingdom did not believe his words and seems like their negligence is catching up on them.

Akinidad, upon hearing the King scream, rushed out of his chamber to the king's chamber, to find out if everything was okay. As he arrived at the chamber, the king told him to prepare himself because the land of his mother has been endangered. Akinidad got really worried and scared and asked Emissary Soun if his mother was ill or dead, and Soun answered with a nod. He was then told of the calamity that has befallen Azurethra and the dangers' it imposes on the kingdom at large.

Ptolemaic Kingdom isn't known just for its rich soils and minerals, nor its peace and tranquillity, but also known for its great warriors and fighting skilled army. But in this situation, a strong army alone will not be their best option if they are not ready.

Azurethra is quiet some miles away from the king's town and the only was to ensure a quick transmission back to Azurethra is with horses. The king ordered some of his strongest warriors to go with Emissary Soun back to Azurethra with their most common means of transportation, so as to secure the borders and assist Amanirenas before the final badge of warriors are sent to the town.

At this point, fast decisions are crucial and need to be taken as urgent as possible. The king then called all kings and queens who rule under his permission, to gather at the palace and take a swift action in stopping the Punt army from having access to their towns. All kings and queens, both from far and near, briskly gathered at the palace and paid their respect to the king. the king then laid the issue at hand to them, and all possible decisions were taking instantly.

Akinidad, has gone back to his chamber and changed and quickly joined Emissary Soun and the army to head back to Azurethra. The king saw Akinidad joining the carriage of the soldiers and told him to go anywhere for he cannot risk the only heir to the throne to a warn. Akinidad is young and felt the urge of helping out in this war, yet the king insisted on him staying behind to ensure his safety.

Amanirenas is know for her bravery and untamed personality, ad seems like Akinidad has taken a portion from his mother. akinidad then challenged the king that he has to go fight with his mother.

King: AKinidad, go back inside and stay here with your cousin.

Akinidad: My King, I am sorry to disobey you, but I really cannot stay back wile the land of my mother is burnt down to ashes.

King: You are the only heir to the throne, and we cannot risk losing you to a war. A a

War driven by greed and selfishness. It is exactly what they want, and we can't afford giving it to them.

Akinidad: It is the kingdom they want and if they succeed in getting under their grip, what will be left for me to rule over when the due time comes.

King: But yet still, as your king, I order you to stay behind and take of affairs in my absence.

Akinidad: Am sorry my king, for that I cannot do. I better dire fighting for my people than cowardly sit just to rule over them. They are the reason we are royals, and that respect should be given back to them equally.

As Akinidad and his uncle the king went to and from, the king then agreed on him joining them back to Azurethra, but instructed the warriors to ensure his safety at all cost.

Upon all these being said, Akinidad, together with Emissary Soun and the warriors rode on their carriage and drove directly to Azurethra.

When Akinidad and Emissary Soun, together with the soldiers have left, the king them ordered Emissary Boateng to call upon the rest of the army, get them prepare to go claim back is rightfully theirs from the greedy Punt Kingdom.

The king is known to be a warrior before his enstoolment as king. He fought many battles, along side his mother and sister Amanirenas. The fought kingdoms and colonialist who once wanted to take their lands and turn them to slave, and with their mother, Yaa Asantewa, with them, nothing seemed impossible to them. All their battles were won and victory has always been their pride. With all these taking into consideration, it is believed that victory will be on their side and their lands will be theirs again.

The king changed into his battle armour, and as he was about leaving, his daughter the princess, came from her room to ask why her father was dressed like that. The king then explained everything to her and assured her of victory before their return from Azurethra. The princess being scared of loosing her father, she insisted he stays behind so that the soldiers can go help secure victory for the people, but the king insisted on going with them. Yes, the soldiers are capable, but what honour will it bring them if the king, who claims to rule over them, is not brave enough to face an enemy their once faced. He told his daughter that being king does not only mean siting on the throne and giving orders around, but it is also taking responsibilities when the need arises.

As the king said these words to his only daughter, she could not control her tears but also wished the king nothing but success in this battle. She prayed the gods go with them and bring them back in good state.

The king then hugged his family and left with the rest of the army to Azurethra.

King took with him quiet a number of soldiers and some armors. The king is not as fit and strong as he used to be, but as duty called, being old or weak or fit does not matter. All that matters is securing victory and restoring the virtue of his people. The dwellers in Carthage praises the king and his army, wishing them good luck and praying to the gods, while they take their exit through the open doors of Carthage to Azurethra.
