The palace of Masinissa Linette Duah II is under turmoil as the topic of a perpetual traitor has been raised and needs to be fished out as soon as possible. The people of the kingdom, and the cabinets as a whole, are believed to be very obedient and trustworthy, and would never do anything to risk the peace and progress they have been enjoying since the reign of their grand forefathers till today. Regardless of all that, there surely will be that one person who is never satisfied with what they have and will go the extra mile just to feed their selfish interest over the large population's interest.
There has been rumours of a family in the kingdom who have had a long-term grudge over the throne, with the Linette family, who have occupied the throne since. It is believed that the father to the queen mother, Yaa Asantewaa, the mother to Masinissa Linette Duah and Amanirenas Linette Duah, used to have a mistress beside his queen, of whom he sometimes sneaks to. He used to see this unknown mistress of his anytime the queen is out for her duties or probably sleeps early. This has continued on this pattern for quiet a long time and has led them to having a child together. As this happened, the then King offered his mistress mountains of gold and silver in other to get rid of the unwanted child, because he could not bear staining the seat of the throne with his recklessness. He offered her all the good life can offer just to get her mute, but it is unfortunate that he did not succeed in doing that.
As things begun to reveal itself under the sun, he then threatens to banish her if she does not adhere to his advice. His mistress decided to have a deal with him because she could not bear the risk of losing a child. It has always been her dream to conceive a child and it should be from the royal blood, and that she accomplished. Unfortunately for her, it is considered an abomination to conceive a child out of wedlock and punishable by tradition, yet that could not stop her from achieving her goal, which is being impregnated by a royal blood.
It is also believed that the then king fell in love with the mistress and all he wanted was to get married to her and build up a family together with her. He was so much in love with her that he could not see himself being held by another woman nor could he stand the chances of seeing her with other men in the kingdom. She was a very beautiful woman that all the men in the kingdom have always wished she was theirs, but luckily for the king he was the one chosen by the young lady.
Time passed by as he was getting ready to ascend the throne when his parent departs to join their ancestors in the land of no return. As far as custom and tradition is concerned, it is mandatory for a royal blood to be married to a royal blood. The motive behind this decision was to expand kingdoms and gain more power in other to be the strongest among kingdoms. This was the pattern to take and was mandatory upon him to do as such. This being the case, he decided not to give up on his lover, but rather take her as his mistress which she hesitated. He found his ways to talk her through it and finally she fell for it and accepted. He made quiet a lot of promises to her which convinced her to agree to his request and went ahead to being his mistress.
As he ascended the throne as king, he thought of making things easier for himself in other to be seeing her any time he pleases. As king, you do not go around without the servants or guards assigned to you, and that was a bit of problem for him, since he could not see his mistress as many times as he pleases because of the assigned servants and guards to him. They give him no break in whatever or wherever he goes, and that was very uncomfortable for him. He then decided to move her to the palace as his chief maid and cook, so she could be much closer to him that he can visit anytime he pleases, without having to worry about his servants and guards following him around.
After successfully convincing his wife and getting her in the palace, he made sure she had a separate chamber far from other chambers, since she is the chief maid and cook. Every chief maid and cook are entitled to a private chamber as it differentiates between them and the rest of the slaves in the kingdom. They have some entitlements to good clothing and personal maids as well and are quiet respected in the kingdom. All of these felt like a dream come true to the mistress and she continued to serve him as he pleases, since that will make all her dreams be achieved. And as kings, you do not go against your words. Whatever promise you make will be tied around your neck until they are all fulfilled to the very last one of them.
The then king, was known for his generosity and kind heart not only to his people but to other kingdoms as well. He was an exemplary leader that every king in other kingdoms would wish to live up to his standards, but he already took that title. He worked hard to develop and protect his people, just as his grandson, the current king of the kingdom, is living up to his legacy. His wife the queen was one extra ordinary human who was never arrogant or harsh to her people. She respected custom and tradition and have always earned the blessing of her people. All these are attributed to her because of how she obeyed the king and served side by side with, won many kingdoms trust and enlarged their territory on good and decent notes. This was the legacy they left and transferred them unto their children.
The story of the king and his mistress where kept secret between them until the day she, the mistress, said to the king she was expecting a child for him. This news was the greatest she could ever have in her life, as she was thinking the king will be happy upon hearing it as well, until she was met with a surprising reaction after breaking the news to him. Knowing so well that he was her first lover and the only man she has ever had intimacy with, it pierced her heart like a spear directed to her on purpose. She could not believe the reaction of the king until he told her to get rid of it.
At this time, the king was to bring forth an heir to take his place when the time is due just as he took over his parent, but the gods did not bless them with a son, but rather a daughter, Yaa Asantewaa. The king was not so happy that he could not bear a son but was proud of the daughter he had. She was strong, beautiful and obedient just like her mother, and that was all that mattered to the king. He didn't want to feel the urge of betrayal towards his wife, because she has never been disobedient to him even though she was not the woman he wanted to marry from the start, but later begin to find solace in her. The mistress was heartbroken because she taught brining forth a son for the king, who will eventually be made heir to the throne, will quench her thirst of always wanting to be queen. She had it in mind that the king will not find it troubling to defile tradition since she is bringing forth a son, and that would have been her greatest achievement at the end.
This was declined and shuttered by the king and eventually told her to get rid of the child, because he cannot ascend on the throne as his successor, since he was gotten from wedlock, and that will tarnish the image of the kingdom and will dirty the throne. By being broken from the reactions of the king, even to the extent of getting her out of the palace, she pledged to take everything that was rightfully hers, even after her death.
The reason fir her promise of taking everything from them was because of the outcast label tagged to her name in the kingdom. She was neglected by everyone in the kingdom, and the king was no exception. All of these got the best of her, and she promised to conceive the child and make him king no matter what, just as Amanirenas wants to make her supposed son king no matter the consequences.
