Chapter 31 - chapter 31

As the ship docked at Storm's End, Rhaenyra and William disembarked, their hearts brimming with anticipation and excitement. The imposing fortress loomed before them, a testament to the resilience of House Baratheon.

Together, they made their way towards the grand entrance, where William's father, Lord Boremund Baratheon, awaited his long-lost son's return.

Lord Baratheon's eyes softened as he saw his son after so many weeks. Emotions flickered across his slightly aged face before he finally spoke. "William, my boy, you've returned," he said, his voice tinged with happiness.

"Father, it's good to see you again," William replied warmly, returning his father's smile. "Storm's End holds so many cherished memories of my childhood, and being back here feels like coming home."

Boremund's eyes glinted with delight at his son's words. He then turned his gaze to Princess Rhaenyra, standing gracefully by William's side. A sense of curiosity and interest sparked in his eyes as he addressed her, "Princess, I hope the journey was smooth?"

Rhaenyra smiled warmly, her poise regal as she replied, "Indeed, Lord Baratheon, the journey was pleasant and made even more delightful by William's company."

"That's great to hear." Boremund responded, he then said:" How about we go inside and catch up over some refreshments, after such a tiresome journey." Lord Baratheon suggested, leading the way into the hall.

As they sat together, Rhaenyra by William's side, and Infront of them Boremund the atmosphere was filled with warmth. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and Rhaenyra felt at ease, welcomed into the Baratheon family fold.

"My son, it's been so long since we last saw each other. Tell me, how have you been?"

"I've been well father," William began, "Being in service to Princess Rhaenyra has been a remarkable experience.  I started as an advisor to her, now we are best of friends."

"And more" William said under his breath.

As he spoke of their bond, a genuine smile crossed William's face. "She has a way of inspiring those around her, including me. I have learned so much from her, not just as an advisor but also as a person. Our conversations ranged from matters of the court to personal dreams and aspirations. In her, I found a kindred spirit, and our connection grew with each passing day."

Turning to Rhaenyra, he said, "And, father, you should hear her speak. Her passion and determination are awe-inspiring."

William had one goal. And it is to make Rhaenyra the queen of the seven kingdoms. And he will achieve that no matter what.

Rhaenyra blushed slightly at the praise, "Thank you, William" she said graciously. "William has been an invaluable friend and advisor to me. His counsel and support have been instrumental in navigating the challenges that come with my position."

"It warms my heart to see the two of you getting along so well," Lord Baratheon remarked, his eyes softening with warmth. "Having someone you can trust and rely on is essential, especially in times of responsibility and duty."

As they shared more stories some of which William has been dragged to the market by Rhaenyra, laughter erupted, the evening turned into a joyful celebration of reunion. Maids placed cake and refreshments on the table, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie.

"How about you go show Princess Rhaenyra the beauty of Storm's End?" Boremund Baratheon asked his son.

"Of course, father," William responded with a respectful nod. Then he turned to Rhaenyra, his eyes bright with excitement, and flashed a warm smile.

"Princess, would you like to accompany me?" he said, extending his arm for Rhaenyra to link with his.

Rhaenyra's face lit up with a smile, and she eagerly wrapped her arm around his, feeling a sense of comfort and happiness in his presence. "I would like that, William," she replied, her voice filled with genuine enthusiasm.

As they strolled through the grand halls and gardens of Storm's End, William proudly showed Rhaenyra the beauty and history of his ancestral home. He pointed out the intricate tapestries that adorned the walls, each one telling a tale of the Baratheon legacy. He regaled her with stories of the great battles and victories that the castle had witnessed.

Rhaenyra listened with interest, captivated by both the grandeur of Storm's End and the passion with which William shared its history. As they walked together, she couldn't help but notice the way the setting sun cast a golden glow on his features, making him look even more handsome.

As the evening wore on, they found themselves in the castle's breathtaking garden, where colorful flowers bloomed in abundance, and a gentle breeze carried the sweet scent of nature. Under the twinkling stars, William and Rhaenyra shared laughter and quiet moments, their connection deepening with each passing second.

As they leaned against the stone railing, gazing at the moonlit sea below, William felt a surge of happiness, at first when he was reincarnated into this world. His only instincts were to survive in this familiar yet unfamiliar world.

But that changed, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Rhaenyra now. And he was sure she wanted the same thing.
