Chapter 37 - chapter 37

William and Rhaenyra continued their stroll through the garden, and after a few minutes, they decided to head to the throne room, knowing King Viserys' usual presence at this time of day. The anticipation built up within them as they neared the doors. The guards immediately recognized the princess, and courteously opened the doors for her and William.

And there he was, her father sitting on the iron throne. While 2 members of the King's guard stood at the bottom of the throne. Rhaenyra took a deep breath and mustered her strength to speak her heart's desire.

"Father," Rhaenyra began, her voice steady, "there's something important I need to discuss with you."

The king looked at his daughter, his expression a mix of curiosity "Speak, my dear," he said.

Taking a deep breath, Rhaenyra continued, her voice unwavering, "I have found the one I wish to marry, and it is William."

A hushed silence filled the room, and the air thickened. William stood by Rhaenyra's side, not worried by the sudden silence.

He knew that Viserys would accept it. As he was the one who told Rhaenyra to find who she loves to marry.

King Viserys regarded looked at them moment before a smile crept onto his face. "Rhaenyra," he said, his voice warm with understanding, "if he is the one who has captured your heart, then you have my blessing."

Tears welled up in Rhaenyra's eyes as relief washed over her.

"Thank you, Father," Rhaenyra said, her voice filled with emotion, "your blessing means the world to us."

The king nodded, his eyes filled with love for his daughter. "As long as you are happy, my dear, that is all that matters to me," he said.

He then spoke to one of the king's guards, and issued a proclamation, sealing their fate. "Announce that my daughter will marry William of House Baratheon."

With that, Rhaenyra and William embraced, their hearts brimming with joy and love. The weight of uncertainty lifted, and they knew they had King Viserys support.

Then Hand in hand, they left the throne room, after William thanked Viserys for his trust in him.  The castle's corridors seemed to glow as they made their way through them. The birds' songs filled the air, creating a symphony of celebration for this momentous occasion.

William had one thought in his mind as he looked at the happy Rhaenyra beside him. And that is he can finally hold Rhaenyra's hand without the fear of him getting caught.
