Chapter 42 - chapter 42

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and gold across the sky, Rhaenyra and William found themselves on the balcony of their chambers in the Red Keep. A gentle breeze carried the scent of the sea, and the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore created a soothing backdrop.

William's eyes were fixed on the horizon, his thoughts seemingly lost in the beauty of the fading day. He turned to Rhaenyra, a soft smile gracing his lips. "You know," he began, "I've always been fascinated by Dragonstone."

Rhaenyra's gaze met his, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Dragonstone?" she echoed, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Why Dragonstone?"

William chuckled, his gaze never leaving hers. "There's something about the history of that place, that interests me.

He wasn't going to tell her, the real reason he wanted to go. Until he completes it.

Rhaenyra's interest was instantly captured, and an undercurrent of adventure began to bubble within her. Her eyes sparkled as she considered the idea, a playful smile curving her lips. "A journey to Dragonstone?" she pondered aloud; her voice laced with curiosity. "That sounds like a marvelous proposition, William."

He nodded with a glint of excitement in his eyes. "Exactly. And I was thinking, What if we took a journey there? To explore the island, walk its halls."

As her words hung in the air, William's grin stretched wider, his excitement palpable. It was as if a spark had ignited, and he knew he was on the right track.

Her eyes danced with a mischievous glint as she continued, her voice now carrying a playful tone. "And what if, just what if, we were to make this journey on dragon back?" Her smile deepened as she regarded William with a knowing look. "It would not only be faster but also an experience like no other."

William's enthusiasm didn't waver; in fact, it bloomed with her suggestion. "Traveling on a dragon's back is a splendid idea," he agreed, his voice carrying a blend of excitement and approval.

With their decision firmly in place, Rhaenyra's determination shone through. "Then it's settled," she affirmed, her gaze steady. "I'll speak to my father and inform him of our intentions. That way, he won't worry about our absence."

With Viserys informed, the plan was set into motion. They made their way to the dragon pit, where Syrax, Rhaenyra's dragon, awaited them.

As they mounted Syrax, the powerful beat of wings moved, and then they were airborne. The world below them grew smaller, the Red Keep diminishing as they ascended into the sky.

The wind tousled their hair, and the rush of air against their skin was invigorating.

With the speed they are going at, it should take a few hours for them to arrive at Dragonstone.
