Chapter 43 - chapter 43

As William and Rhaenyra soared above Blackwater Bay, headed towards Dragonstone, William relished the familiar rush that always accompanied flying on dragon back. The chill of the wind against his skin, the tranquil expanse of the sky – it was an addiction I could never tire of.

Upon their arrival at Dragonstone, Caraxes descended gracefully onto a training field. With the landing, William and Rhaenyra dismounted, greeted by the awaiting guards of the fortress.

"Your Grace," one of the guards addressed us, bowing respectfully.

"Assuming word of our arrival reached you?" Rhaenyra inquired, meeting his gaze.

"Yes, Your Grace," he replied, then added, "A chamber has been prepared for both you and His Grace."

"Very well. Kindly arrange for a servant to acquaint us with the the castle."

and so, our stay at Dragonstone began.

….

The castle was a sight to behold, after the tour, William and Rhaenyra went to their room to get some rest.

In the room, William leaned against the side of the window, watching as the servants walked through the yard.

"Hey Rhaenyra, do you actually feel what Caraxes feels?" William asked.

He wanted to an answer to that question, he didn't know if the show exaggerated about that.

"It's true, we Targaryen's can feel our dragon's feelings." Rhaenyra responded "In my mom's funeral, I was sad about her death. And Craxes felt it. And, if Craxes was sad. I would be able to feel it." She then continued. "Some bonds might be different, but there is a bond between a dragon rider and his or her dragon that connects them together."

A bond that connects them together huh…

"I'm going to go take a shower." Rhaenyra said as she peaked William on the lips and left.

"Alright." William said as he stared at the sight of the Dragonstone behind the window, pondering about what it feels like to have a dragon…

William admits… he kind of wanted a dragon now…

But it's impossible for a non-Targaryen to own a dragon.

Right?

Night fell, and all of the residents of dragon stone went to sleep.

But in front of the eastern side of a cavern which a dragon feared by all resided in. A male stood at its entrance with a saddle in his hand.

And that was William, he snuck away from Dragonstone with a saddle he stole and came here. Stray dragons resided in this cavern, and on the eastern side of it. The stray dragon the cannibal resided in it. His plan is to tame the Cannibal as surviving in this world without a dragon was nearly impossible, this statement became even more true when he became the husband of Rhaenyra who will go against the greens in the future.

So, surviving will be an impossible task for him without a dragon.

You would ask how William; the non-Targaryen be able to tame a dragon?

Well, in his past life. William read that the founder of house Baratheon, is the half-brother of Aegon the conqueror.

So, William concluded that he had a bit of Targaryen blood in him. And that was what William depended on to bond with the dragon.

So, with a prayer to whatever god brought him to this world, William entered the cavern.

The cave was blisteringly hot. William who just entered it, already started to feel the sweat dripping from his forehead as he delved deeper into the cave.

And William kept on hearing a faint sound of something breathing, and a smell similar to ceraxs.

Shit, this smells like failure already… William thought.

But then William decided to keep on going. The worst thing that could happen is him dying, and that will happen if he doesn't get a dragon.

William kept dragging himself and the saddle deeper into the cave as quietly as possible. And as silent as he could.

As he kept walking, the sound of breathing which he heard kept getting louder and louder, the heat became more unbearable, and the smell of the dragon became stronger.

Suddenly green flames conjured appeared and filled the entire room with a roaring fire. However, that still was not enough to light up the darkness further below.

The flames splashed against the walls. Looking at the sight, William could see the outlines of many dragon skeletons.

William gulped his saliva as he dropped the saddle and looked into the darkness. However, all he could find is horrifying set of viridescent eyes that reflected me.

Staring at those set of eyes William had only one thought in his mind.

Damn, this sucks.
