Chapter 49 - chapter 49

The dragons descended upon the Dragon pit with a grace that belied their immense size. Syrax folded her wings neatly, settling into the ancient structure with practiced ease. Her amethyst scales shimmered in the dappled sunlight filtering through the open roof, casting a violet hue upon the stone.

As the dragon keepers started to calm Syrax down.

However, Cannibal, with his colossal frame, proved too vast for the confines of the Dragon pit. His wings brushed against the sides, and his tail threatened to topple stone columns. It became evident that the cavernous structure, designed for dragons, was not built to accommodate one of Cannibal's size.

William exchanged a knowing glance with Rhaenyra as he dismounted Cannibal. "It seems Cannibal will need to circle the city for now," he said, his voice tinged with regret.

Rhaenyra nodded in agreement. "Yes, he's simply too large for the Dragon pit. We'll have to find a more suitable resting place for him."

So, William looked at his dragon and said: "Issa raqiros, ao'll emagon naejot circle se oktion. ēva īlon find nykeā suitable dīnagon syt ao naejot umbagon isse."

Cannibal grumbled in acknowledgment, his emerald eyes reflecting a hint of annoyance. Yet he still obeyed his master's decision. And with a powerful leap, he launched himself back into the sky, His wings beat in powerful strokes, as his enormous figure casted a shadow upon the city as he circled King's Landing.

As William, and Rhaenyra were going to leave the dragon pit. By a horse carriage, A maid approached, her steps hurried.

She curtsied deeply before she said: "My lords, his grace awaits you in the throne room,"

Rhaenyra and William exchanged a glance, word must've reached him.

"Thank you," Rhaenyra said to the maid. Before proceeding to the horse drawn carriage.

After they arrived, William and Rhaenyra navigated through the castle. until they reached the grand doors of the throne room, to which a guard announced their arrival. As the doors swung open, revealing a vast chamber adorned with dragon motifs and the Targaryen sigil.

Upon the Iron Throne sat King Viserys, who was now looking at William and Rhaenyra.

"Rhaenyra," he said. Rhaenyra curtsied gracefully, and William bowed respectfully. "Father," Rhaenyra replied. "It's an honor to be in your presence once more."

Viserys nodded, a hint of a smile touching his lips. "I missed you too." Then he continued "It seems William returned with a surprise." He said as he looked outside the window at the huge dragon that was circling the city.

"Yes, your grace" William said, then he continued. "Me and the cannibal, had formed a bond."

Viserys, nodded and responded: "Indeed, even though you are not a Targaryen you still managed to bond with a dragon. Which is a remarkable feat."

After a pause, he continued: "And since, you are a part of my family now. The dragon shall be kept with you."

This immediately eased William's heart. Even though he was sure he could get away with The Cannable if Viserys had decided that the dragon should be taken from him.

But he was sure he would suffer severe injuries, and he would have to leave Rhaenyra. Which wasn't an option he wanted to take.

"Thank you, your grace" William, said as he bowed once more.

This made a smile appear on Viserys face, when was then replaced with a serious expression. "Remember William, the bond between a dragon and the rider. Goes far beyond partnership."

William, took a second to compliment what Viserys meant with those words and said, "I understand."

"Very well," Viserys said, his tone softening. "You must be tired from your journey. You may go and rest."

With a final nod, William and Rhaenyra took their leave from the throne room. Happy they were back home.
