Chapter 36 - chapter 36

The sun peeked through the canopy of trees as Rhaenyra and William strolled through the serene gardens of the Red Keep. The air was filled with the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the distant chirping of birds added a melodic charm to the peaceful morning.

Their steps were light, had shared countless moments together, but this stroll felt different as if something big was going to happen. Each glance they exchanged spoke volumes, a silent language of love only they understood.

As they reached a secluded spot beneath a tree, Rhaenyra stopped, turning to face William. Her eyes were different from the jokingly manner she had a few mins ago. Her eyes showed a tapestry of emotions—love, longing, and an unspoken question lingering on her lips.

William sensed the moment was profound and paused, giving her his full attention.

"William," she began softly, her voice as delicate as the petals that fell around them, "I have something important to say. Something that has been growing in my heart, flourishing like the blooms in this garden."

His curiosity piqued, William gently squeezed her hand, encouraging her to continue.

"I have thought about it deeply," Rhaenyra said, her gaze never wavering from his, "and I've realized that my heart has chosen its path. You, William, are the one who has captured my heart."

"I want to be with you," she continued, her voice gaining strength, "and I want to marry you."

His breath caught in his throat, a mix of emotions flooding through him.

He had never imagined that she would propose the aspect of marriage. Not when he knew what happened to Criston Cole in the series.

The world around them seemed to fade away as those words hung in the air, reverberating like the echo of a bell in the stillness of the morning.

Words were inadequate to express the torrent of emotions he felt. Instead, he pulled her close, enveloping her in a warm embrace. Rhaenyra nestled into his chest, her heart beating in harmony with his, as if they were two halves of the same soul.

"Rhaenyra," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion, "you have no idea how much I love you."

Rhaenyra looked at William with affection then took a deep breath and said: "I'm going to talk to my father," she said, her voice unwavering, "and I want to tell him about us. I want him to know that I've made my choice, and that I want to marry you.

William looked at Rhaenyra and then said: "I will stand with you, Rhaenyra," his voice unwavering, "through whatever comes our way. I love you with all my heart, and I want nothing more than to spend my life with you."

Rhaenyra's eyes glistened with tears of happiness in response to what William said, then realization downed her and with a mixture of nervousness and determination in her eyes. "Will you come with me to tell my father?" she asked, her voice filled with hope.

"Of course," William replied, his hand gently caressing her cheek, "I wouldn't miss this moment for the world."
