Ch-3
'I carefully kept watch over the goblin, it continued to
hunt fishes, it was not that good at speaking fishes but he would catch 1-2/10 fishes
which was not good but decent.' Thinking this, I saw the goblin finally
stopping and looking at the sky.
The goblin probably a male, realised that it's going to be
night soon, got out of water and collected his spear and a basket which seemed
like it was made of dried up roots and straws, that's now filled with fishes of
various sizes, started walking around a direction.
'I presume he has no idea that he is getting watched by
someone, I should follow him to his camp.' Thinking of this, i started
increasing my pace but maintaining a little distance as well.
[3rd person POV]
He started following the goblin with a little distance
between them to not let the goblin know that he was following him.
He followed the goblin for around three minutes or so but he
made a very crucial mistake of underestimating the goblins sense of smell and
came a little closer to the goblin.
He was maintaining a distance of 40 meters but he went
overboard and covered the distance of around 4-5meters by taking a leap over a
puddle of water.
Making the goblin alert, which was not at all a good thing
for him, he even regretted the decision of following the goblin.
If the goblin noticed him and confronted him head on then
his chances of survival is really low.
[1st person POV]
"Tough Luck, seemed like their sense of smell is not
something to look down upon unlike their size." I addressed.
Choosing to attack first to have an advantage over the goblin. I threw all the sticks that I had picked up to start a fire and to
defend myself.
The goblin, dodged the sticks and rushed towards me with the
spear held by both his hands with the intent to kill.
I was not a pushover and not someone that would get tensed
up by not seeing their tactics work, I held one of the two sticks that I kept
with myself and carefully kept the second stick behind my back for any crucial
moment.
The goblin took a leap and pounced at me with all it's
strength, with the intent to kill me with it's wooden spear that has blood
stains which I assumed it to be the blood of fishes the goblin has caught. I
though to myself,
'Though he possess great agility, he is not quite swift
enough to take me off guard.'
I thought of all the weak points a goblin can have - eyes,
ears, neck, mouth, and crotch are the areas that are susceptible weak points.
As I considered all the possible weak points of a goblin, I
realized that their eyes, ears, neck, mouth, and crotch are all areas that
could easily be exploited.
The goblin realising that i was going to target his weak
points, became more cautious but it was too late because I with a swift leap, I
jumped back and saved myself from the goblin's attack. Without missing a beat,
I struck the goblin with a wooden stick and pierced his eyes.
The goblin let out a piercing scream as light green blood
gushed out of its wounds like a fountain.
As soon as I saw the blood, instead of following my orders
to pierce the stick even deeper, my body instinctively recoiled and I took a
sudden step back to create some distance between myself and the goblin. In
addition to that, I felt my stomach churning, as if I were about to be sick. It
was strange because I had become quite accustomed to killing by now, almost as
easy as swatting an insect for most people. I used to never hesitate before
taking a life.
I didn't hesitate and changed my strategy to attack again
with the spare stick that I had saved for a crucial moment, just as I had
predicted. And sure enough, that moment had arrived.
Not wasting any time, I with my spare stick attacked the
screaming goblin on it's neck and piercing it through but suddenly the stick
broke from the middle, breaking it's momentum so I grabbed the spear that the
goblin was carrying- which had fallen in the ground after I pierced his eye.
I swiftly used the spear to attack the goblin, driving it
into his mouth with such force and momentum that it emerged from the other side
of his neck. This rendered him unable to scream and caused him to collapse to
the ground, losing consciousness.
After taking care of the threat in front of me, I fell on
the ground, I was covered in sweat and the blood of the goblin that was dead
and lying on the ground not to far from me.
After dealing with the imminent threat, my mind darted on
the fact that while I was in a battle with the goblin, my body reacted on its
own without my command.
'Did this happen because I am in a foreign body and I still
haven't completely gotten in control of it. If that's the reason then this can
be really dangerous, if my body stops listening to me in the time of danger.'
This thought sent a shiver down my spine as this can decide
my life and death and for someone like me, I can't let others decide my life
and death.
'But right now there's not use of contemplating about it,
because I can't do anything about it, so I have to be careful in the future or
check the limits of this body before taking on risks like this that can
endanger my body.' While thinking this, I went near the goblin to collect it's
wooden spear and basket - filled with fishes and went near the river. Leaving
the corpse of the goblin behind....
