Ch-7
Next Day….
[MC'S POV]
As I emerged from my slumber, I rose and ventured out of the cave. Following my usual routine and some invigorating exercises, I armed myself with my trusty knife, bow, and arrow before embarking on a quest to explore the depths of the forest. My goal? To seek out a welcoming settlement where I could gather valuable information about the world around me.
Knowing that there was a goblin settlement nearby, I decided to take a different route in order to avoid any potential confrontation with them.
I didn't face any difficultly in crossing the river as I used the rocks on the river bed as the stepping stones to cross it.
From there it was a smooth journey and, I continued walking cautiously, watching my steps, and being on high alert, to face any danger.
But luckily, I didn't face any ambush and was having a smooth selling, smooth enough that I was really doubting if it really is a forest filled with dangerous creatures roaming freely without any supervision or a government controlled sanctuary but I was out of my stupor when I heard sounds of confrontation not far from where I was, and I choose to go there to spectate the situation there.
To my surprise, there was a fight ensuing between two sides, one side I could identify as the goblins with another creature as their ally and the other side had creatures that looked like lizards with human characteristics, standing on their two hind legs and using their front legs as arms to hold weapons and other items, but they were not alone as well, they also had allies with them.
If I have to describe the allies then, the goblins had creatures that looked like a combination of bat and human with, one red eye and fur covering all over it's body with human characteristics like legs but they had wings attached to their arms, and if I have to guess then they had to flap their hands to fly in the air.
And on the other side, there were snake like creatures with the lower body of a snake with a upper body of a human.
"As far as I can tell, this is a lamina," I thought to myself. I kept my distance and stayed vigilant, watching carefully for their next move.
But the most eye catching part were not the lamina or the humanoid bat creatures, but the leaders escorting their sides.
On the goblins side there was a burly goblin with bulging muscles, and what seemed like a armour made of animal skin, on his shoulder and arm, with a dagger made of iron on his hand. He looked like a General. But he was taking deep breaths and perspirating, it seemed like there was a fight between the party leaders of both the groups.
Looking at the iron dagger, it seemed like it was crafted in a very barbaric way, but it can be used as a tool to dissect limbs and alike. It can never be classified as a work of art but it looked like it can perform it's job, and looking at the goblin general, it seemed like he was proud of his weapon, unhesitant of using it on his opponents.
And on the other side, his opponent was probably the lizard man with a big scar on its right eye, wearing rags, and holding a spear. The lizard man also looked like he had a previous confrontation before my arrival, and looked ready for another round with the goblin general.
But as far as I could understand they were distancing themselves and was probably trying to avoid confrontation with each other as they would both face casualties and they were not hell bent on killing the other party.
'I should watch what they are going to do next.' Watching anticipatingly, it looked like they were going to now have a talk, to defuse the situation.
[3rd person POV]
The main character watched them from a distance while being ready for a fight.
And in the party where confrontation was taking place, the goblin general with his worried group started the conversation.
But in spite of starting the conversation, the goblin general was ready for a fight that could break out any time.
The main character wasn't able to understand what they were saying in their native language but it was definitely not 'How are you?' or 'How is your life going?'
The goblin general Initiated the conversation and the lizard man joined the conversation and they both conversed while being worry of one another.
This continued for some time and it looked like the conversation was becoming heated by the moment, the main character could summarise this by seeing the face of both the party leaders subordinates, who were not really in a good mood as if their leader starts a fight then they have to join in and there will be death from both the sides, but no one was sure of how many of them would die.
So they were making a not so pleasing face because of their ordeal. But it didn't take long for them to reach the climax….
