Chapter 6 - CH-6 Executing plans

Ch-6

As the first light of dawn filtered through the leaves, the protagonist stirred from his sleep, feeling the renewed sense of determination to find the perfect feathers for his arrows. He had spent the night planning his approach, and now he was ready to set his plan Into motion.

After a breakfast of some remaining fish from the previous day, he set out into the forest, treading lightly and keeping his senses on high alert. He carried with him the knife that he crafted with the bow and incomplete arrow on his back. He had decided that the best place to find a variety of bird feathers was near the small river that meandered through the forest.

These birds were seen by him not too far from his home near the banks of the river, taking advantage of the running water for their own purposes.

He moved silently, not wanting to disturb the delicate creatures before he decided on what type of birds to target.

They were of various kinds, from sizes varying from small to big, but the most shocking thing was in his previous life he had never scene any birds like this, so he was unsure of attacking them as this birds might be extremely dangerous if provoked. And he would not be able to defend himself as they had the aerial ground all for themselves.

But he choose to take the risk as fletching was a really crucial factor to complete the arrow for it to be used properly. So he took out the bow and arrow.

As it was the only long range weapons available, and it would be futile to use knife to kill a bird as they would be able to fly away. So he made the decision of using the bow and arrow, it would not be as precise as he wanted it to be but nevertheless it would be enough to kill some birds. As he was not too far from the birds so the arrow will not diverge from his pre-determined path.

He with a lot of caution, silently,"withdrew one of the arrows he had fashioned the previous day and nocked it in his newly made bow. He took a deep breath and, with a precision honed by years of practice in using different types of weapons, let the arrow fly towards the nearest bird. The arrow cut through the air and struck the small creature, taking it down without causing any further harm.

He targeted the arrow to hit in the eye but it diverged a little and pierced the neck of the bird. But it was still effective

After the death of the bird, his companions got alerted and flew off from the tree. He let them escape, because he would not be able to hit moving trajectories and he didn't want to try and waste his arrows, as every use will make them full and he has to replace them or sharpen them.

The protagonist made his way to where the bird lay dead with no sign of life and carefully plucked the feathers, avoiding damage to the feathers.

Satisfied with his haul, he returned to his home and set to work crafting the fletching for his arrows. He used the knife to carefully trim the feathers and attach them to the arrow shafts, ensuring that they were firmly in place. With each arrow completed, he felt a sense of pride and accomplishment at having created a weapon that was truly his own.

With his new and improved arrows in hand, he tested the bow, feeling the smooth pull and release. The arrows sliced through the air, the fletching guiding the arrow and hitting a butterfly that was flying.

The most surprising part was that it did not kill the butterfly but instead pierced the wings of the butterfly not letting it fly but the arrow caused no harm to the butterfly, after testing the arrow and his accuracy, he was happy with it.

He was pleased with the outcome, knowing that he now had a reliable means of defence and hunting.

As the night descended, he found himself settled in his cave, basking in the deep satisfaction of all he had accomplished that day.

As he reflected on his accomplishments, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He was used to being in control of every situation, but now he found himself relying on his skills and, more so, on luck. He couldn't shake the feeling that if not for his luck, he wouldn't have survived a single second in this place. The forest was filled with creatures that could easily kill him without him even realizing it. But thankfully, he hadn't encountered any of these creatures yet, and most of the situations he had faced were within his control.

After careful consideration, he made the decision to gather information about his surroundings. However, he doubted that there were any nearby human settlements due to the presence of goblins and other creatures in the forest. It seemed unlikely that humans would choose to settle in such a place, as it would likely lead to constant conflict with the other inhabitants over resources.

But he though of something, if creatures like goblins and other magical creatures exists that used to only exist in stories on Earth then there must exist magic or any other power that can be harnessed in this world.

While thinking about all the conceivable possibilities, he drifted off to sleep…
