Chapter 26 - A Vision

Dharen did not know how long he had been sitting there, it could have been a few minutes or it could have been a few hours now, it was extremely difficult to tell the time, as the sat there. Starting to feel bored, Dharen began to follow the smoke from the incense as it snaked its way upwards, through all of the murals on the ceiling.

His eyes could not help being drawn by Io, they all clearly knew some of their past and yet they did not do it all, as if they had forgotten part of it deliberately, it was odd and different and yet this was how everything was now.

The two Imperiums, had whatever else had come before, the Dragon-Kin truly did have a long history and yet, most of what they seemed to know of their past had been passed down through word of mouth or alternatively through what was recorded in these murals, in their temples.

Renna had mentioned before about there being two cults which are followed, the Dragon Cult and that of the Imperial Cult, the two follow the same idea he guessed, but the Imperial Cult was probably so that the Imperial family whoever they were then, could better control the populace and everyone below them, as when people believe you are a God, they would always be far less likely to rebel and cause issues, although this did not help that much clearly.

His eyes, lost in thought followed the smoke back down towards the incense which had been lit, his eyes then widened as it looked as if the smoke was trying to form the face of the Dragon from the mural that was before, that could not be possible though as such things were well not possible, it must just have been how the craving had been made, so it seemed like….

"So you are the one that he has sent for me."

A voice suddenly appeared into his head, as he looked at the head of the Dragon before him, made from smoke.

This voice was different from that of the system however, it sounded older, more ancient. Yet, it too was tired, as if it had seen far too much and now it only wanted peace.

"Dharen, child of my kin. I am Io, or well what is left of myself."

Dharen, hearing the voice that was inside of his head, did not want to believe what he had heard, and yet a part of him knew it was the most likely to be the truth, as who else or rather what else, would claim to be the now dead Dragon God.

"I understand your confused child, yet this is all I am now. I can not fully be gone without the death of all of my race. The others, my first children, are not so lucky."

The words confused Dharen a lot, but then he reasoned in his head, this was not an mortal being that he was talking to, he also thought secretly in his head at why there were so many Gods coming and talking to him recently. From Athena, to now Io. It was odd as if there was something going on that he did not know about. Maybe he had some kind of mark on him that was only visible to the Gods?

"You have the mark of Athena, and the seals of him. The last prophecy for your kind is now at hand. Hear me now child, and prepare yourself for this…." The smoke and voice then faded out as if something was interfering.

This confused Dharen, who now felt extremely worried and anxious. He had heard Io beyond clearly in that moment, there was a prophecy that was relating to him directly and they at least from what he had read back on Earth normally never went well.

"Damn God. I am sorry child we must be quick, my spirit gathering has attracted that God of light.. And his annoying brother, the one called the God of Darkness. They will come soon, I can not share everything with you…" Io then faded away for a moment before reappearing once more. "Go find the Black Blade, it is here. It is your birthright. I wish I could aid you more, but my power…"

Dharen began to get more confused, what was this Black Blade?

"And trust the Olympians they will help, they are sworn to…on far more than you could ever comprehend."

Then with a pop, the force that was holding the smoke in the shape of Io vanished, and the smoke soon returned to normal.

Dharen could only sit there finding himself far more confused than normal. There was a prophecy relating to him and yet, he did not know what it was, then there was this so called Black Blade whatever that was, and finally the Olympians had been sworn to at least support, but that he doubted would be so simple to from what Athena had said to him.

Looking around, his eyes ended focusing onto the back of Renna's head. Her black hair looked more silky than normal today. He could remember so much now, the two had spent a lot of time together from her teaching him as much as she could and more.

Yet, he knew eventually this would come to some sort of end, and he did not wish for that to be the case. Yet, well he was conflicted. What should he do, and what should he say. There was far too much at stake, plus the whole idea for the clans. Him being without one, limited his social status a lot, his skill would be respected but aside from that he would be a nobody to most of the Dragon-Kin.

Renna then turned and smiled at him. "So how do you feel now Dharen?"

She asked as she got up and walked over to him so that she was standing in front of him, making him look up at her.

"Confused if I am honest." His reply was quiet, as his mind once again went through all that he had learned recently.

"It will be ok, you know, the future is always going to be confusing and most likely dangerous. But you should never fear it, for at least, you will not be alone. I will be always be ny your side I promise."

Dharen, hearing her sweet and calming voice looked up more ensuring he was looking into her eyes, trying to find the real meaning as to what she had said. He knew unless one of two things happened, she would not be able to keep that promise and both were just as unlikely as the other.

"Renna…"

She then stopped him talking with a finger on his lips.

"Say nothing Dharen, we never should tempt fate too much. Now we best go and prepare for the rest of our exams right?"

Dharen, soon was on his feet and walking out of the temple with Renna, he had found himself stumped, she was being different today. Far too different compared to normal.

It was like she…
