Chapter 30 - Stone and Steel

The next few minutes passed by in a flash with Dharen constantly wondering if his plan would work or not. He doubted that he would be able to hold off this group for long. The number difference was simply too much, and personal skill only amounted for so much against larger groups.

Then tapping his foot on the ground in what could have been anxiety, worry or maybe excitement. The thud of their opponents could finally be heard, as every step that they took, seemed to reverberate within Dharen's ears.

The noise steadily got louder and louder until the column or rather square of them came around the corner, there own armour being the exact same as what Dharen and his line were wearing, it was also know that Dharen was finally able to see who their leader was, and it was not that much of a surprise for Dharen.

Percy, who was at the front of the group, smirked as he saw Dharen.

As for Dharen himself, he made sure that the two he sent to hide had gone unnoticed, which for now it appeared like they had done. Though, this did still cause more worry to Dharen. Percy was many things but he did not seem to be stupid at all. He had always shown himself to have some intelligence. But everything he had done for now, did seem to be rather well attention seeking.

It was only then that Dharen realised that this entire group could have been a distraction by Percy, who may have sent one or two people round to sneak up and take the flag while they were all distracted.

Cursing himself, he turned to the two people next to him. "Run, make sure no one has snuck up behind us!" His sudden yell, startled the two who darted off a few moments later.

Dharen, then turned to face Percy as he took a few steps back so that he would be in the narrowest part of this rock outcropping, it would help him at least limit the number of people who would be able to attack him at once.

"Well, well. Dharen, I do wonder if you can even slow us down all on your own. You embarrassed me before, and you are one of the most vile things that are still in this world. A Dragon-Kin. Your kind all should be exterminated, like the vermin you are." Percy spoke calmly, unlike the words that he was saying. It really did make Dharen think on, if anything that he had said held any meaning. Not that he cared much, he did not still fully consider himself as one of the Dragon-Kin anyway.

"Attack and put him down!" The sudden scream from Percy startled his own people, who after a few seconds of stunned silence, finally charged the last of the short distance to where Dharen was standing.

As he had expected however, the group were forced into a more narrow area to get to him, meaning that he would only have to handle two of them at a time.

As they approached closer, time seemed to slow down for Dharen as he looked through all that they were doing, he noticed two things quickly, one was that the shields that were carrying, would hinder their own movement while they were here and secondly that the swords, seemed to be to long to really be of use while close between the rocks.

Raising his own blade up, so that he was ready. He looked over the arming sword, it was short and useful to be used in such a confined area but it may not be the best.

The collison, was loud as anyone would have expected.

Dharen, took the shield bash head on from the guy on the right, while he deflected away the sword strike coming his left side.

Quickly he followed up with his own sharp thrust, only for it to be stopped by the shield which seemingly had managed to travel the short distance in an instant. Then, before they could launch their own attack again, he shoved the person he was closest to back. This gives him a small bit of breathing room and space momentarily.

He did not less this go to waste at all, using all of his speed to move and pivot around the person closest to himself, allowing his downwards slash to cut straight down his back. The receiver of this, fell down to the floor.

There was no time to breathe though, as Dharen found himself soon under the attack of the rest of the group, who seemed to be incensed that one of their own had fallen.

Their rapid attacks kept on forcing him further and further back. He avoided what he could, while blocking away the rest. There were only two of them attacking him for now, but still the pace that their blows were raining in, took far too much for him to do anything else but block. The two were covering each other perfectly, one would attack, followed by the other. Keeping him always altering between the two of them.

Then a loud clanging noise ripped through their fight. One of them had hit the stone, their sword bouncing off of it, as their body arched back.

Dharen did not wait, and launched a thrust at his face, making sure he was out for good, then turning he unleashed a hail of slashes, enough that would have made any sword master proud, this lead to his third opponent falling to the ground.

It was at this moment, he heard a roar coming from his front. The roar stopped all of the fighting momentarily, as Dharen was able to see the two he had sent behind launch their own sneak attack. One was locked in battle with Percy, the other had managed however to take someone down and was launching attacks with speed at the rear of the group who were pressing Dharen himself.

Dharen then launched his own attacks trying to take anyone off guard while they were still distracted. He had only managed however, to get rid of one more person before the rest reacted. Pushing him back to being on the defensive once more.

"AH. Just pin him to the wall and get the flag! Only that matters!" The sudden yell of Percy, caused a flash of annoyance to flare onto Dharens face. He really did want to hit Percy right now. But he had no time to even look at him.

And as Percy had ordered, he found himself being pushed slowly against the rocks, unable to do anything as multiple people moved past and further into the rock outcropping.

He then heard more yells, as the few he moved past must have clashed with the two he had sent back there.

At least they were still there he thought to himself, as he tried desperately to push his way out of the artificial cage that he had been forced into.

Then, a flash of red light stopped everything.

"The game is over, we have a victor."
