Chapter 31 - The Lost Blade

Percy sneered at Dharen, as those words rolled over and past everyone who was taking part in this game.

"Well look at that oh so perfect topper. It seems you already have a loss to your name." He spat out the last part, his spit landing across Dharen's chest.

He though did not do anything other than staring with a deadpan expression at Percy's face. It was still not clear who had gained the upper hand yet, and he did trust Mark at least enough so that there would be a chance for their own victory.

Just as they had arrived in this place, they all suddenly found themselves transported to where they had started from. Dharen, seeing that it was now only his own line who was here, quickly turned around to face Mark.

Mark though, had a massive grin on his face. Well, it was not just him but all of those who had gone with him. They all were at the current moment grinning like they were high on some kind of drug.

There could have been only one reason for them to have such a grin on their face, and Dharen could imagine the rampage Percy would be undergoing right now. He just hoped that Percy would forget about trying to show off in front of himself for a while, as it was starting to take up too much of his energy nit to just hit the fool in front of him, he could challenge him to a duel, but that did just seem like it was to much.

The line, all grinning soon dispersed as everyone would have to prepare for the rest of their classes, Dharen though just began to walk back to his room, and the building in which he stayed within.

He had his own research to continue, this being something that he was trying to keep from his friends as he did not want to get them needlessly involved in this, he just had a feeling that what he was doing would end up being bad for their health.

The work in question was on what he heard Io mention, that being the Black Blade. Currently he had not found much, that was in part due to its last sighting being so long ago, that it seemed more like it was never there in the first place.

The blade, was an ancient artefact belonging to the Dragon-Kin, it was given to the Shadow Clan by the Abyssal Clan for some deed that they had performed. Since that point it had appeared throughout history being wielded by the Shadow Clan's leader or by someone else who had performed a massive heroic feat. One of its first users was someone by the name of Adoh, though from what he had read, this was during the ending days of the original Imperium.

Since then, it had gone from hand to hand, until the Shadow Clan had vanished along with the last of the Crusaders Heir's. This being long before the fall of the Second Imperium at that.

It was lost and yet, from what he had heard, it seemed like gaining this blade was meant to happen near the start of his journey, just like the blessing of Athena. But how could he find something that was so clearly lost to history and to time itself?

"Dharen!" The sudden yell surprised him for a moment, causing him to turn around and through the throng of faces he was able to make out Jason, who was running towards him with a massive grin on his face.

Seeing his friend being so happy made him curious. In all of his time knowing Jason he had very rarely seen his friend with such a massive smile. "I won! You should have been there! It was so close and yet I won!"

Quickly he was able to understand why Jason was so happy and who wouldn't be so happy from a victory. He, though, was just an oddball in that regard. He did not feel overly happy with his victory as if he had been given that he would be able to win all along.

He could not tell if this was arrogance, pride or something else entirely but he decided to keep it close to himself and always be ready. He knew full well how everything could easily change on the battlefield. It had been taught to them all too much through all of the historical studies that they had done so far.

"That is great really. So what do you think will happen next?" Seeing that his joy was met with a question, annoyed Jason a little but he still thought on the words of Dharen, he did not doubt that his friend would have done anything else but secure a win.

"Well, from what I had gathered from talking to our seniors, the next game will involve all five of the lines, with the two victors on one side, and the two losers, as well as the one who has not had a game yet on the other side."

Hearing his words, Dharen clenched his fist a little. It meant who would have to face Percy again, as well as Renna too, as she had not had her own game for now.

He could imagine it already, and he would be definitely lying if he said that he was not excited about being able to go head to head with Renna herself.

But that did not matter much for now, the next game would not be for a couple of weeks and before then he had classes, assignments and more to be done. Not to mention his private lessons with Renna still had not ended. He was sure that by the time that all of this was done he would be more than knowledgeable about everything, and he hoped even more so than Renna.

It may be childish, but he really did want to be the one teaching her things in the future, in part this was so the time that they spent together would not end.

"Dharen, can I ask you something?"
