Chapter 28 - Preparing For The War Games

After walking out of the room and before Dharen could turn to talk to his friends about what had just happened he found himself in a completely different room, and it was one that he had never been inside of before.

The room appeared to be like an office, but it was by far the most messy of the offices that he had ever seen. The entire place seemed to be covered in a layer of dust, at least this was the case for all of the books and the shelves that they were placed upon, the swords and other various weapons on the wall, were gleaming from the attention and care that they were shown.

"That will be all Lester." A deep, strong voice echoed out behind of him, leading to Dharen to turn quickly around, just in time to catch a glimpse of a robbed figure flash away into nothingness as if he or she had never been there, although it is most likely to be a he, based off of the name.

The man before him though, was different. He or one clearly appeared to be the owner of this office, and his desk was surprisingly clear of anything at all, looking as spotless as the weapons who hung off the wall, all around him.

The man himself though, had long brown hair, alongside a rough beard. His face was covered in scars, some long and some short but each one was guaranteed to have its own story. The man in question had been watching Dharen and assessing him, as Dharen had been watching him.

This all ended when the man finally decided enough was enough. "Dharen, take a seat."

Not really knowing who the man was Dharen. Simply chose to do as he was told, taking one of the two seats that were positioned in front of the man's desk. He then put his elbows into the table, hands grasping each other.

"You are the current top student of your class, so you have been brought here to hear what that merits."

Dharen just nodded his head, still unsure of what was happening and who this man was, he just was going along with it.

"Firstly, you should know if you maintain your position until this time next year, so through three sets of exams, you can potentially graduate early as well as gain special privileges among the academy itself."

Hearing that he could maybe graduate early surprised Dharen, but he would never want to do so anyway due to the fact that it did seem pointless as you would never know when there would be important lessons that you could learn.

"Next is relating directly to the war games. As always to organise the new first years into teams, each team is called a line or section. It is formed with twenty people. And before you ask where the numbers needed come from, do not worry so much as it comes from the other classes who are in the entire school. You are then further organised into divisions, with one section per year."

The information was a lot, but it did make a lot of sense to Dharen who had been worried a little before at how these war games would work, but he did not really see where all of the benefits would come from, that he had been told that he would be able to get.

"So Dharen do you understand everything that I have said now?"

Dharen just nodded his head, leading to the man smiling softly. "That is good then, as for the rest of your benefits, they are all related to the war games this time, and as of when they are available to you, you will be told about them all and I am sure you will find that they are more than helpful. Now then, you can leave."

The sudden way in which this discussion had gone shocked Dharen a little, but then again had roughly worked out who this man was, and he could understand a bit of his attitude.

So nodding his head, Dharen soon left the room and found himself in an area that he did not expect, and as he turned back, he found that the door slowly vanished into the wall itself, being made from some part of magic clearly.

These war games, he was amazed a little that he had not heard anything really about them until now, it seemed to be one of the major features of everything that would be happening and a lot of the course and benefits that were obtained all seemed to be oriented around the entire thing.

As he walked through the hallways, heading back to his room as he would not have anything else that he would have to do today, he found himself thinking on who he would end up having in his section and more than that, these divisions that he had been told about, reminded him a lot of the houses that some schools back on Earth had, had to encourage some kind of competition between people.

As he walked into his room, he found Jason sitting there on his bed who had looked up as he had walked inside.

"So Dharen, it seems like we will be stuck fighting each other in these so-called war games then." He said that though with a little chuckle on the end as if he had thought the whole thing to be pointless.

Dharen smiled back as he spoke, "Yea we will be, but I will go easy on you do not worry too much. It is Percy I truly wish to destroy and grind into the ground so that his arrogance and pride take a hit and he does not act so well entitled anymore. He is talented, yes, but that pride is useless until he has achieved something with his own hands."

Jason looked across at Dharen with a hint of amusement in his eyes, "So what then Dharen, destroyer of Percy is your goal in life."

Dharen went quiet as he looked across at his friend. "I wish to earn my fame, and all so I can achieve something truly that does matter." Though as he said these words, all he could think about was the broken prophecy that he had heard, as well as the promise of a bleak future from Athena.

Well, it could not be all bleak he guessed, his friends would be there. How bleak could it really get?
