Tilting his head slightly as he looked at her, "What do you mean? Know what? What should I be knowing here?"
The lady just looked at him stunned, not sure if this was part of some kind of weird and sick joke or if he was really serious in that he had no idea what she meant.
Dharen, not getting a reply, asked again, "Really I do not know what you mean…"
The lady, still shocked, looked at him fully, giving him her full and undivided attention and taking a deep breath. "You are not like us, you are not fully human. You are a demi-human, one who possesses the blood of the dragons."
Interrupting her suddenly, "How could I be a demi-human, and dragons? They do not even exist!" In this moment Dharen had forgotten everything about where he was and he had come here, alongside that of the system that had appeared before him as he had arrived.
The mindset that had been drilled into his mind from Earth, fully taking over in the current moment.
The lady, hearing his words just shook her head and sighed, she didn't even know how someone like that of Dharen had fallen so low to have forgotten his past and heritage, she would much rather him be entitled than be like this.
"Dragons…They did exist once, if they do now or not I do not know as they have not once been seen in well as long as anyone can remember. But they did exist once, your golden eyes are a mark of that. White, purple and golden eyes are the markings of those who have the dragon blood in their veins. The eye colour, is to do with how much of the bloodline you actually have…or so we were taught. Those who do not have enough are normal, like me. So yes, you are not human."
Her voice sounded so sure of what she was saying, Dharen could not help but stop and slowly he realised that she was probably right in what it was that she was saying, the system had already told him something called a Dragon Blooded - Noble. This is probably what it had meant.
"But assuming you are right, that does not still explain why I am getting all of the looks from everyone here that I am, as well as how they have reacted to me..,"
The lady still could not believe what she was hearing as she looked at him. But still she carried her explanation to him.
"Well, your ancestors had been around since the first age, the Age of Creation. They had an empire, called the Imperium. This spanned their home continent, but due to many events this continent was destroyed, the Imperium with it. Later on, in the fifth age, the Age of Blood. The Crusader led the remnants of his people from the islands that they called home and invaded many lands until he came here and conquered our continent, leading his people to establish the Second Imperium. This collapsed just over a century ago now, and the few of your kind who survived the slaughter that followed, scattered at least that is what happened in the Southern Province of the Imperium where we are now, the others I do not know about."
The lady, following her small lesson, took a few deep breaths, and then got herself some water and took a deep gulp, as her throat had begun to go dry.
Dharen though, took all of the information in and quickly processed it and finally giving in to belief, he nodded his head. "Thank you for telling me all of this, I really had no idea at all."
The lady just nodded at him and ushered him out, completely confused at all that he apparently did not know when he should have known all of this clearly, with the colour of his eyes. She just could not help but wonder at where he had been brought up and by who, this was supposed to be common knowledge by everyone.
Shaking her head, she watched as he left and walked up the road, his coming few days would probably be a massive shock for him as he learned all that he did not apparently know she guessed to herself.
Dharen meanwhile, was walking up the street quickly in the direction that he had been given, trying to get to the tavern the shopkeeper had recommended to him to stay at for the night before he continued on his journey following the arrow. Though looking at the arrow, he had started to think if just following it blindly was so wise. There clearly was a lot here at play that he did not know about at more than that, he knew nothing of this world.
Finally he arrived at what looked like the tavern that he had been told to go and stay at, like many of the buildings that he had seen while he was here, it was made of stone, that to of a solid stone, the walls though had multiple murals all over, with some showing the sea, some what appeared to be the town that he was in, and there were others too.
Not waiting, he walked over and pushed open the wooden door, and as he walked he found the place quieter than what he would have expected it to be. Behind the bar there was a man with a thick beard, who joyfully yelled out, "Welcome stranger! Find yourself a seat and I'll be over soon enough."
The nicer reception made Dharen feel a bit more at home. The barman or maybe owner of the tavern, seemed to not care too much about the colour of his eyes, this alone made Dharen feel far more at home, for the first time since he had arrived at Rivertown.
Walking over, with a mug of a frothing liquid in his hand, the man placed it down in front of Dharen and then took a seat opposite him.
"So what can I do for you? Some food? Or do you want to stay the night as well? Oh, and the drink is on the house, I do not see your kind in here much."
And there it was Dharen thought, someone else talking about his eyes…and his kind.
