Chapter 4 - The meeting

(THIRD PERSON'S POV)

"How dare you sneak up on a woman like that!" Rhea's angry but scared voice said. She was ready with her broom held up at the figure which turned out to be this attractive young man. Even now in such an awkward moment, She could not deny, how beautiful he was.

His attractive, well built, straight physique, thick jet black hair and intense dark eyes that had a sharp gaze. There was an arrogant aura about him and though this was the first time in many years she was meeting with him, she knew who he was.

But that did not stop her from expressing her displeasure.

Aztec on the other hand was stunned. She had a right to be scared and defensive with him creeping in the dark but even with the lights on and with his eyes on her, she was yet to squirm to his satisfaction. She still looked angry that he had walked in. On the other hand he was stunned by her appearance.

When Steele said she was breathtaking, Aztec had no idea how literal he was meant to take that, she was literally breath taking. He had met many stunning and attractive females in his life but none like her. There was something very different about her.

Special. The words of the Sorceress and now Aztec wondered if this was more than her being human. Also, there was something distinguishable about her scent. Something about it…..

"I said what are you doing in here? You shouldn't be breaking in to people's homes in the dark night." She said to him.

"I'm Aztec. Alpha Aztec." He introduced.

There was nothing in her eyes that showed of surprise or excitement. She simply put the broom away as she said to him.

"And so you understand that with the condition of things you should not be sneaking around at night."

He was surprised. She was bold as well as beautiful.

Again, he took in her beauty. Her skin was smooth and milky looking like it would be so soft. Her ebony hair was long and beautiful cascading to her waist. Her facial features looked like they had been specially carved. A perfect pointed nose, pretty full red lips and big beautiful brown eyes that showed of strength and resilience. She was dressed in clothes that were very old and frayed but somehow she was still shining.

"Your majesty." Her soft beautiful voice sliced the silence and the Alpha tried to get a grip of himself.

"Would you care for a seat?" She offered politely.

Then she led him to the den where he sat.

"I'll be back with some…"

"I didn't come to eat or drink." He said to her with a cold voice.

He seemed to have left the world of thoughts he had been placed in not long ago and was now in the Alpha mood.

Rhea turned around and came back taking a standing position not far from where the Alpha sat. She was scared. She did not think that the Alpha would come here and so soon? The visit from the Beta earlier had still left her in the clouds and now this?

"Why are you not at the memorial dinner?" He asked her.

She managed to look up in to his eyes which looked like they drank from her soul. She looked away unable to stand his intense gaze. She could not tell him the truth. That she had never attended any memorial service since her father's death. Her step mother saw to it. Just like tonight, she had Rhea locked up with chores but Rhea would not tell that to the anyone not to talk of the Alpha.

Perhaps if their fathers had not died so early then they would have grown in to friends? Rhea doubted Aztec could remember . When they were younger and their parents would meet, they would play together. Rhea had the biggest crush on him then but with Aztec turning in to a popular womanizer, the feelings died quickly. Besides after her father's death, Rhea never saw him again.

"I stay away from events that bring me sad memories." Rhea lied to the Alpha.

"So you won't mind dishonoring your father's memory." He said in a displeased and cold voice.

"I choose how I honour my father's memory." She said to him with a stern look that said she wanted an end to the topic.

"You came here to see me." She said changing the topic.

"Yes." Aztec said as his eyes followed her every move intrigued. He found her very fascinating and he still could not tell himself why.

"I did." He confirmed. "I sent my Beta to you earlier."

"I gave him my reply." She said hiding her fear underneath a mask of confidence.

There was silence with Aztec's eyes plunging in to hers.

Then he chuckled. A dry, cold laugh.

"I'm sorry , you are under the impression that this was sort of a question." He said to her. "Like your permission was needed?"

Rhea looked in to his eyes. She knew what he was thinking and He would not dare.

"Look, I am your Alpha. And you are under the obligation to perform your duties to your pack. To your people." He said with a very stern voice that made Rhea shiver but she did not relent.

"These are my father's people. And not my people." She said to him.

He was surprised to hear her say that to him. Was she not scared?

"You may be different but these are your people." He said.

"You can't-"

"Someone is coming." He said with a low growl. Then he stood up and looked at Rhea as if he was observing something about her.

"I shall be here for you tomorrow. It won't be a very friendly conversation." He said as he turned to go.

"What? No. Please. I had to lie to my step mother about your Beta and I still got in trouble for it. What will I say to her about-"

"I'll see you tomorrow Rhea." He said in a husky voice and with that, he was gone.
