Chapter 22 - Back to school

"I see, " She replied as she finished processing all the info before turning her attention to Tridius. "Never thought I would meet you again wolf of the north, last time I saw you, you were getting sealed."

"No thanks to you and that war." Tridius replied, not particularly happy about being in the same room as one of the people who participated in his sealing.

"And you go by the name Tridius now, what happened to the other one?" Ignoring his remark.

"After years of sealing, I forgot it since time moves fast, especially where I was sealed."

"So why do you have problems with my aunt? Why were you sealed?" Chase asked.

"You're gonna know sooner or later, " Maria interrupted, "Not now."

"Fine." He sighed.

"I'm happy that you were able to grow stronger but I guess you diminished your power level since you didn't want people to sense you right?"

Chase simply nodded. They talked for ten minutes more and Maria was ready to leave Chase alone."Well then Chase, " She said as she got up from her seat and tucked it back inside the desk. "I'll see you at school tomorrow. This is for you." She teleported out of his room and came back in 10 seconds and handed him another piece of paper and a planner. Chase realised that it was his timetable.

"So, I start at period 4 tomorrow huh?" He said as he analysed his timetable. And as expected, Monday was the worst day with four lessons starting from 9am to 2pm.

"You know how it works right?" She asked, "Wear what you want and bring your own notebooks. Homeroom starts at the same time and most importantly, be punctual and stay out of trouble."

After saying that, she exited his room and Chase was left alone with Tridius. He replaced the notebooks that he had and put his timetable in his bag before jumping on the bed, thinking about what to do for the rest of the day.

Chase had asked about the woman he had seen when he was losing but Maria said that she had no idea who he was talking about but somehow, he knew she was lying.

A couple of hours later, the girls returned but they didn't look for Chase and just went on with their day. Even though Lily wanted to talk to him, she was a bit frightened about his whole new appearance and didn't want to interact with her brother right now. Chase didn't really care and just went on with his day, even his mother didn't talk to him. Nevertheless, he focused on the big day tomorrow and regretted coming back already.

Chase woke up at 8:30am. Even though most people would have slept till 9:00 to head to the homeroom which starts at 10:20, he didn't like to sleep for much longer than he had to. Even though he had slept for two weeks. The watch indicated that it was the 1st of march which was a Tuesday and Chase had to get ready for school. He heard the front door open and Lily's voice saying that she'll be leaving for school and May's voice telling her to have a good day, something Chase hadn't been told in 11 years.

He decided to take a shower and changed into a black top with black trousers and when he was going to go downstairs, he would wear his grey and black jacket depending on whether or not it was cold outside. He also wore a dark blue watch and black shoes which seemed to fit well with what he was wearing. Upon finishing dressing up, he took the planner out of his bag and started reading it as he made his way downstairs. He ran into his mother and Lazuli but they didn't say anything to him nor did he say anything to them rather, he made himself a bowl of cereal, sat at the head of the table and paid no heed to the people before him.

'She told me that I could wear anything I wanted.' He internally complained as he read one of the rules which prohibited tracksuits. The rest of the rules were basic stuff and he finished the reading fairly quickly, as well as his breakfast and with that, he headed back into his room

An hour passed and it was time for Chase to leave.

"Master, " Tridius called out from behind him.

"What's wrong?" Chase asked.

"Can I come with?"

"Yeah, it's a good thing that there's a rule that allows familiars to be brought to school as well as weapons but, you can only use them in duels sadly."

Chase took the gun out of his drawer. He had learnt how to make bullets over the years and it became easier to produce more. He placed the gun into his waist and carried his bag downstairs with Tridius following. He wore his jacket, took the keys out of his bag and put his bag on followed by Tridius jumping on his shoulder. He opened the front door when he heard footsteps behind him. Lazuli was also going at the same time so he left the door open for her and she quietly followed him. May told Lazuli to have 'a good day at school' before closing the door behind them. Chase opened the front gate of the house and Lazuli stepped out, closing it behind her.

They walked in silence for about 5 minutes before two familiar figures appeared before them: Kabé and Kate. Upon seeing them, Lazuli ran towards Kate and gave her a hug before also hugging Kabé and as soon as that was done, the girls immediately started chatting on their way to school, leaving the two boys to deal with each other.

"Hey." Kabé said, trying to sound as friendly as possible. "Never seen you around here, what's your name?"

As friendly as Kabé was trying to be, Chase totally ignored him and kept on walking, leaving Kabé baffled and thinking about what he had done wrong. They had never met before according to him, so he was confused as to why this boy was completely ignoring him and he decided to ask Lazuli.

"Lazuli!" He called out to her.

"What's wrong?" She turned around and ask. But he didn't need to say anything since she could already tell from the expression on his face. "Ah, don't try to talk to Chase, he won't listen to you."

"Chase!?" The two siblings exclaimed, Lazuli nodded.

"He came back two weeks ago but I forgot to tell you, sorry." She said apologetically.

"He looks so different from the Chase we know." Kate said as she studied the boy passing them. "And, he looks... more mature."

"You think so?" Kabé asked, "He feels more sinister and emotionless and the pet on his shoulder emits a terrifying aura."

"Yeah." Lazuli said as they followed Chase, "But, we'll observe them for now."
