Chapter 7 - Re-interview

Joe, who was about to give chase, was quickly pushed away by Ben, "What else do you want to do? What else do you need from her?"

Silenced and unable to answer. Joe was also confused about why he was so interested in responding to Viona's bravery. The handsome widower chose to ignore Ben and go to his chair.

"Why don't you answer?" Ben followed up, "I'm not dreaming, right? I heard that you proposed to that girl earlier. Have you started moving on, bro? Wow, good job. I'm happy for you!"

Ben didn't hide his happiness when he thought that his brother had started to open his heart to women again. As his younger brother, he is the one who knows best how devastated his brother was when his wife died. Only Ben was by Joe's side when his older brother broke ties with their parents and chose to raise Sammy alone.

Seeing Joe and Viona's interaction earlier made Ben have good hopes for his brother's life.

"Shut up. So noisy." said Joe, who immediately stopped his brother's laughter with the next sentence, "I want to go home. You're working overtime until late at night."

"What the f***?! Am I working overtime again? This is cruel, you know!" he protested immediately, but his brother still didn't care.

Joe ignored his brother and started walking out of his room. After the door closed, he was immediately approached by his secretary—Shera, "Boss?"

"Arrange a call for another interview for the woman. Make sure the personnel department doesn't mention my name. The decision to accept it or not is your business. Do it as professionally as possible according to procedures." the order.

"Okay, Boss. Anything else, Boss?" Shera asked.

"Mr Ben is inside. Please help him back up me. I want to go home, my child is not well. Good afternoon, Shera." he answered completely and started walking away from his secretary.

As he walked, his memories of Viona came back and this made Joe's smile lift slightly as he muttered, "What's wrong with me? Why can I melt down with that woman?"

As Joe had ordered, The Eye God Tower's employee recruitment management immediately sent a re-interview invitation to Viona. That was the reason Viona returned to Joe's company building which she had left yesterday.

Plus the news that Jansen conveyed this morning meant that Viona had to get a job from Joe's company.

"It's here, Boss." Jansen interrupted Viona's thoughts.

"What you said earlier was real news, right, Jansen? I'll tear your mouth apart if you lie." Viona, who had regained consciousness from her reverie, immediately asked Jansen seriously.

"You can ask the Big Boss for valid news about the land purchase from the auction directly, Boss. I couldn't possibly lie to you." Jansen answered honestly and it could be seen from the expression on his face.

The news about the land auction being won by 'Big Boss', as Jansen conveyed, made Viona worried. That means the orphanage building where she once lived and which Viona is currently fighting for, must be moved immediately before the children from the orphanage will sleep on the side of the road after their house has been razed to the ground.

The orphanage also cannot do anything because the orphanage building was built without an official building permit from the government. They must be willing to move without a penny of compensation.

"Shouldn't you just go home and have a good talk with Big Boss, Boss?" Jansen asked carefully.

"Approximately how much money do I need to get to move those twenty orphans to a livable place?" Instead of answering Jansen's previous question, Viona changed the topic.

Jansen took a deep breath before answering, "Five Hundred Million Rupiah. I think that much money can buy a house big enough for those children, Boss."

"That's a lot. Where am I going to get that much money anytime soon?" Again, not responding to Jansen's words, Viona instead muttered to herself, and that made Jansen a little annoyed.

"There are only two possibilities. You win the lottery or go home and talk to Big Boss. Moreover-,"

"Forget it. Your brain is too small to only think of stupid things." Viona immediately sneered. It turned out that from the start she had been listening to Jansen's ramblings, "I'm going down now, and I ask you not to keep following me. I want to be free, you know?"

"Just as you like, Boss. But I will still observe you from afar. Good luck, Boss!" Jansen said to Viona and after that, he drove his car back.

"Up to you," Viona muttered then walked into the large building where she would start her new journey—The Eye God Tower.

Because of the excitement that Joe caused yesterday and also the heavy traffic in the capital, Viona arrived late. Luckily, Jansen was around and immediately took her to take the re-interview at the big office.

Viona immediately jogged inside, before she reached the HRD room she had to go to, Viona was pushed away by the security guard on duty there.

"Sorry, sir. I'm late. Can you take me to this section?" Viona greeted them while handing her an email about which room she should go to. But the two security men in front of her just exchanged glances and shook their heads at each other.

"It's very late, Miss. In this office, no one likes people who are late. Time is money!" one of the security guards sneered at Viona.

"But coming late is better than trying nothing, right, sir? Who knows if it turns out I still have good fortune and are waiting for me inside? Do you two want this to be a problem for you?" Viona's statement confused them because what she said might be true.

After thinking for a moment, the two security officers in front of Viona exchanged glances until they finally made a decision, "Yes, Miss. Let us take you inside." said the officer who had previously sneered at Viona.

Viona exclaimed happily in her heart. With high hopes, she followed the steps of the security guard who took her to a room. It looked like there were already several people waiting inside.

"Excuse me, Mrs. Daisy. I delivered this Miss. She said she came because of an interview invitation." This security officer greeted and informed him about Viona's arrival.

Immediately, the gaze of a woman in her 40s named Daisy glanced at Viona, followed by the gaze of a well-dressed man with glasses perched on his nose, as if judging Viona's current way of dressing and appearance.

"Please sit down and start introducing yourself." One firm sentence without further ado came out of Mrs. Daisy's mouth.

Viona straightened her position and calmly began to introduce herself to the two assessors in front of her. Slowly but surely, she was able to enter into the conversation and quickly changed the expressions of the two appraisers from being cynical to relaxed. Both Mrs. Daisy and the man who was her colleague looked fascinated at Viona, who turned out to be very intelligent when asked many difficult questions.

Mrs. Daisy and her colleagues stopped their questions for a moment. The two of them were seen discussing without involving Viona.

'What? It's enough? But why do they ask mostly about family and children? Isn't this a well-known gadget company in this country? What does it have to do with family and children?'

Viona muttered. She was confused as to why most of the questions asked by Mrs. Daisy were not related to the company.

"Then, what about your address? On your resume, it says your current address is a flower shop in the Yellow District, and as far as I know, that area is an asset belonging to this company. Can you explain, Miss Viona?" Mrs. Daisy asked again.

"I was born in this city, but grew up and live in Bangkok. A few months ago I just returned to this city and decided to settle in this country. You can see my identity in my job application letter."

"And when I got a place to live and a shop to open a business, it turned out that the previous shop owner had cheated me. "I regret that I was not careful and it turns out that the shop has become an asset for this company,"

Viona answered honestly and with her calm demeanor in conveying everything, made Mrs. Daisy and her colleagues make a decision.

After waiting for a while, Mrs. Daisy finally stated her decision, "Okay, we've decided. You were accepted as part of The God Eye Tower, but not assigned to this office."

Mrs. Daisy's words immediately made Viona confused, "What do you mean, Mrs.? I don't understand,"

"This is a little confusing to explain, but actually, this company doesn't have any vacancies for new employees." Mrs. Daisy explained again, but this made Viona even more confused, "You are accepted and will be placed at the President Director's house to work there,"

"What?"
