Chapter 8 - Contract Worth Five Hundred Million

"I'm sorry, but I really don't understand what all this means. How could I work in the President Director's private house?" Viona voiced her confusion.

"That's it, Miss. I will explain the details to you. According to our pure assessment, you are accepted to work and become part of The Eye God Tower but are not employed at the company but at the president director's private home as a nanny and personal assistant to the president director."

"The company will pay you a decent salary. You will get five hundred million rupiah for your work during the year-long contract period."

"For details of what work you have to do, the President Director himself will explain to you after you agree to sign the work contract."

"We will give you time to think about this for three days starting today. Because if the grace period passes, this opportunity will be given to other people on the job applicant queue."

"Please give your feedback, Miss Viona. We are waiting for your decision via email. And thank you for the time and opportunity today. Nice to meet you,"

Mrs. Daisy explained in detail about the work contract that Viona had to consider. Even though she was still confused, Viona still responded calmly.

"Thank you, Mrs., sir. I will give you an answer as soon as possible. Once again, thank you." Viona smiled happily, thanking Mrs. Daisy and her colleagues.

After that, Viona left The Eye God Tower building with a hesitant heart.

"Five hundred million for a year working with that strange man. Won't I go crazy over it?" Viona grumbled remembering Joe's absurd and annoying attitude.

But after remembering the urgent need for an orphanage, she immediately took a deep breath, "Is there no other choice for me, Lord?"

'There are probably only two. You either win the lottery or go home and have a good talk with Big Boss, Boss.'

Amid her doubts, Jansen's previous words emerged.

"Damn. I won't go home. I will stay here no matter how hard that Old Fart corners me." she grumbled while remembering the face of an old man who Jansen called 'Big Boss'.

Viona decided to go to a place where she felt comfortable to stop her chaotic thoughts. She must think about the decision to take the job contract offer or look for another way to earn money for the orphanage.

Meanwhile, after Viona left, Mrs. Daisy was seen reporting the results of Viona's interview to Joe's secretary, "Miss Shera, the interview has been completed and the results have been decided. My colleagues and I decided to accept Miss Viona Bharadja to work with us. "But for Miss Viona's decision to accept or reject, let's wait together."

Coming home from work, little Sammy looked expectantly at Joe. The father, who from the start promised him good news, is now starting to fulfill his promise. From under his jacket, Joe took out his cell phone and handed it to his son.

"There's a video message for you, try opening it," said Joe with a smile.

Immediately the little one smiled because he was sure it was about Aunt Bee, and when he saw Viona's face on his father's cellphone screen, Sammy became even happier.

'Hi, Sammy. Do you still remember Aunt Bee? Uh, no. Aunt Viona. How are you, son? Hope you get well soon, okay? Thank you for helping me. You already look like a small version of Bumble Bee, you know? You're cool, Sammy!'

'Get healthy quickly, so you can go back to school quickly and get smarter. Hopefully, later we will be allowed to meet again, okay? See you, my hero... Muuaah!'

Sammy's hand reflexively rose up to wave at the cellphone screen while Viona also waved goodbye before the short video ended.

"How is it, are you better?" Joe asked gently and Sammy nodded. However, after a few moments, the little one became gloomy and silent again. As his father, Joe could easily guess what the little guy was thinking. But, that was a ridiculous idea for Joe Clayton.

The single father, who has been taking care of his son alone for the past five years, understands that Viona's short video is still not enough for his little one. Sammy wants to meet his helper Aunt Bee in person, and that is something that Joe cannot yet comply with.

That's why the man just ignored his son's gloomy attitude as if he didn't understand, and this neglect lasted until evening when Ben came home.

"Sammy, stop watching the video. Your eyes will hurt, you know. I'll hold the phone first so you can eat. Also, I want to see what the video is like." Ben approached Sammy with great curiosity. He had just been informed that Viona's video had been sent to Sammy's tablet.

The little guy quickly put his tablet in his chest and turned his body to his side, facing away from everyone. He walked away from there, choosing to sit in front of the large television in the lounge room.

"Ben, don't be nosy. He just kept quiet and was about to leave the room. I've run out of ideas to persuade him to eat. Sammy was just about to eat when I let him hold the tab containing the video from this afternoon." Joe spoke in a low intonation to his younger brother.

"Don't you realize that your child misses that girl?" almost whispering, Ben asked seriously.

"Maybe you could say that. But I still don't know why Sammy really likes that girl. I can't let strangers get close to Sammy like before. All of them are sycophants and trash."

"But you can't be the same as everyone before, and I think Sammy is also becoming more introspective, bro. I'm sure he already knows which people are good and bad for him. Your child knows who really loves him." Ben's words to his brother made Joe look at Sammy who was lying on the long sofa watching his tablet.

"But it's true, Joe. I think Viona is a good and sincere woman. So I wouldn't be really surprised if you and your child immediately liked her. Did I say yes or yes?" Ben asked tricky while raising and lowering his eyebrows.

"Shut up. Just take care of the new artists who will advertise our new products." Joe scolded and wanted to change the topic of the conversation.

"Gosh, you look like a shy cat, aren't you?" Ben teased immediately. But the teasing immediately stopped when Joe raised his hand containing the butcher knife in front of his younger brother, "Don't be crazy now, Bro. Mental hospitals are full of failed legislative candidates, haha!" he continued shouting as he ran from there, without forgetting his taunt at Joe.

On a long bench in the city park, Viona lay down there. Her eyes opened to see the stars dotting the night.

When the beautiful woman closed her eyes for a moment, several scenes from the past began to emerge and added to her confusion.

'What do you want to do after we return from military duty? Are you going to another city or are you going to run your father's business instead?'

The question came from the lips of a woman who was in a tree while observing her target area.

'I don't know, I don't know what I'm going to do next. Then, what will you do when we return from this war?'

From a bush under a tree not far from the woman, Viona answered her colleague's questions via their sophisticated communication device. Viona was the same, her eyes were observing the movement of the surrounding area.

At that time the two of them were carrying out a mission to confront state rebel forces in the conflict area on the Thai border. And, the two women were selected as sniper troops.

'Me? Hmm, let's hear what I'll do next.'

'In Indonesia, I had a grandmother who raised me until I became the soldier I am today. She's already old, but she still has to take care of the orphanage where I grew up.'

'After I return from this mission, I will submit a proposal to move to that city so that I can help my grandmother take care of her orphanage.'

'All the salary I earn as a soldier I will give to my grandmother and also—,'

'Bang!'

Viona's colleague's voice stopped at the same time as the sound of a gunshot, followed by the sound of an object falling from a tree.

'Black Cat was shot. Eagle Eye stays where you are. The enemy is approaching. Roger!' a warning voice sounded in Viona's ears at that moment.

'I understand. Roger!' she answered quickly. Viona's heart felt hot and painful, holding back the suffocation of tears that she couldn't voice. Her eyes were red and filled with tears of sadness, but they remained alert to the situation.

Not long after, the sound of a series of gunshots was heard and one of them came from Viona's long-barreled rifle which was shooting at the state rebel troops.

All these sad memories made Viona open her eyes. She realized that tears had already wet her eyes.

"I'll make your dream come true, Lizbet. Even though your grandmother has died, I will look after your orphanage…"
