Barbara got on the vast veranda, surprised to see Richard standing so close to Kristie. She coughed, making the two looking at her. Richard took a step away and excused himself while Kristie stood there with a neutral expression.
"What were you doing?" she asked, frowning, walking closer.
"Something got into my eyes, so he tried helping me," she replied.
At that time, she noticed Kristie's right eyes were red and slightly swollen. "I thought you two were Ki — nothing." She shifted her gaze from Kristie's, embarrassed by the mere thought.
"What are you fantasying about?" she smirked and Barbara felt her cheeks become warmer.
"Richard would never do something like that. He is a gentleman!" she said, as it was the custom in the kingdom not to have any entanglement before the wedding.
"No man is a gentleman, sweetie. Especially facing a gorgeous woman," Kristie retorted.
