Chapter 14 - Prisoner of Purgatory

Dyre stood in front of Behemoth, every light stir he made with his gargantuan body would shake the whole of purgatory.

"I don't like to repeat myself." Behemoth said, his patience was obviously limited. Dyre then bowed to the great beast.

"I am Dyre Beacon, oh mighty Behemoth. And I have come to offer you a way out of here." Behemoth's eyes widened at the idea of someone so small offering him freedom.

"Oh? And how are you going to do that? I have been trapped here for over a millennium, I saw the fall of Lilith and the rise of Teran. I have fought against both Heaven and Hell for my amusement. And even I have given up on leaving this place!"

The colossus roared, Purgatory shook as he did. Even Dyre had to hold himself together as he saw the entire realm shook. But he had to go on if he wanted heaven to learn fear.

"I know." Dyre said, Behemoth sneered and was about to say something but Dyre beat him to it.

"But, your mother has changed since you've been here. The war has been in a stand still, and both sides have been gathering power preparing for a new dawn of a new holy war. Humans now cover the surface of Gia, and new powers never thought possible have been discovered."

Dyre said as he pulled out the lord seal, "With this I can get you out of here!" The Behemoth's eyes glowed green and for the first time Behemoth looked Dyre in the eyes.

"I have seen seals like that before. In dire times angels and demons would sacrifice themselves to make their siblings stronger, and make them able to survive the trials ahead of them." Behemoth then sharpened his gaze to the young man.

"And even if you were to get me out of here, you would just take my place in this prison when they find out what you carry."

Dyre smiled at this, "No, they won't. You see, I've done something that you didn't do."

"I chose a side." Dyre said eye to eye with the giant, he then continued.

"You attacked everything that came your way, your hunger for the destruction of the heavens and revenge led you to make everyone your enemy. But if hell finds out that you chose to be on they're side, they won't just leave you alone, you'll be the greatest weapon. And let's not forget how furious this will make the Heavens!"

Behemoth smiled at this, but then became serious once again. "And what would you get from this? This only brings positives for me, and the heavens ire for you.

"But that's what I want! I want heaven's ire! I want them to try and stop me. And I want to see them rally up against me! I want to see them fail!"

 Dyre said excitedly to the colossus. Behemoth stared at the young man, in awe at the fact that he wanted heaven to try and destroy him.

'Well, I'm no different,' Behemoth then smiled and then said.

"Okay, I accept." Behemoth said smiling, then the scroll that Dyre was holding started to glow in a white light. The sigils etched into the scroll that survived from ages long passed burned out the ancient parchment and floated around the two."

 {Do you wish to pick the class}

 {Beast Lord}

With the white sigils that hovered and danced around him, of course he would take it and after saying yes, the sigils started to glow brighter and brighter.

Then soon they grew so bright both parties had to close their eyes. And when Dyre felt the light dissipated and he opened his eyes, he was alone in purgatory. Then his status page went wild with notifications.

 {You have become a Beast Lord with the Prisoner of Purgatory, Behemoth}

 {You have gained the Trait Child of Gia}

 {Gained maximum affinity with the earth element}

 {You have gained the Defense Stat}

 {You have gained the Resistance Stat}

Dyre stared at the newly gained powers, the defense stat made his body tougher, allowing his to be body tougher than iron. With the resistance stat, it allowed his body to take powerful spells head on, but the notifications kept on going.

 {Do to the trait Eden Born Defense and Resistance stat + 50}

 {You gained the trait Meaty Hide}

 {Vitality stat is added to Defense and resistance}

 {You have gained the Trait Resilient}

 {All elemental damage received is halved}

 {You have gained the skill [Earth Diving]}

 {You have gained the trait Monstrous Regeneration}

 {Gain a regenerating body, strength of regeneration depends the Vitality stat}

Dyre looked in awe at his newly acquired power, A beast Lord was something he knew about even before his prophetic dream. Owen's oldest friend was the beast lord of the terrible hydra, and his power was well known.

But to become one you would need a beast smart enough to agree and one that was enough to make it worth it. So beast lords were pretty sparse, the player character couldn't even become one in the game.

While Dyre was looking through his status page, he then heard from back of his head roar with fury.

"What!!!!" Dyre fell to his knees from the shock and newfound headache. "You okay buddy?"

Dyre said to his literal other half.

"Why … Why was my boss fight so ass!" Behemoth said in despair.

 "Oh, so you can see that, good that saves me some time." Dyre said, pushing himself back up readying himself to leave purgatory, doing everything he wanted.

"Don't change the subject! Why was my fight so garbage! I'm the first beast, the one to fight both heaven and hell, why!" Behemoth kept roaring, Dyre shook his head.

The fight you had with the behemoth was the worst in the game. It was a slog where you would chip away at him until he would disappear into the ground and reappear somewhere else, and you would have to find him to fight him again.

"Look, my fight sucked too!" Dyre said, trying to alleviate his friend's pain.

"There is a massive difference from piss easy to horribly annoying!" Behemoth roared back.

"Look, nobody knows except us. So we're taking our original fates to our graves." Dyre said, lifting his left hand.

"Door to home!" he said as a familiar looking portal opening in front of him. And as he walked through it he heard Behemoth say confused.

"You know that we are immoral right?" and before Dyre could respond they were gone and for the first time in the realms history Purgatory was empty.
