Chapter 17 - Battle of Champions part 1

After talking to Lilith and getting ready, to meet the warrior who wanted to kill Dyre. As Lilith used her mirror to bring Dyre to the ring of greed.

It was a plane of gold, where treasures that would be relics to the largest of countries were strewn about like flowers.

This was Mammon's ring and it carried everything she had coveted. Soon after entering Mammon appeared and then spoke.

"Welcome, thank you for coming in such a short time. I thought you would try and drag this out."

Mammon said in a half joking tone, and soon the one who wanted to take Dyre's place appeared behind his king.

Morrin gave the young beacon a strange look, no he was blatantly staring at the young boy in surprise.

'He looks like him.'

Morrin thought to himself in actual shock. He was not expecting Dyre in this form.

"I guess it must be a lot to be in the presence of the champion of hell isn't it Mammon's sentinel?"

Dyre said with the widest smile he could muster, but it would be a lie to say he was fearless.

Morrin did give Dyre the honor of an answer, only disappearing from the group. Mammon seeing this sighed.

"He never lets me have any fun does he?" Mammon said exaggeratedly rubbing her temples.

"Oh well, let me pick the arena." Mammon said disinterestedly and as she said that five massive colosseums surrounded the three of them.

Each arena that appeared was comparable to the one that was used for the progeny tournament, and neither Lilith or Dyre were surprised as these mighty monoliths from knows where rotated at impossible angles and new one appeared as soon as they disappeared.

Dyre then turned to Mammon mumbling to herself about which one would be the best to use. Dyre suggested the tall, almost tower-like one that seemed to be carved entirely from Aquamarines.

Mammon only chuckled and said. "Only if you want a naval battle."

After that Dyre kept silent and wondered where she even got half this stuff. The five different arenas didn't even share one commonality.

But soon Mammon had selected an arena, after she had decided the other arenas vanished.

Leaving an ancient looking one that to be crafted entirely out of black stone.

"So she picked that one huh?" Behemoth said in the back of Dyre's head. The Basalt Arena now this one unlike the others, did appear in Hero's Legacy as it was both where the ring of greed hosted tournaments and where they trained.

As Mammon brought Dyre to the battlegrounds of the arena, Morrin was already there wielding his weapon.

'A bident.' Dyre said, watching the large demon standing with it.

"Arm yourself." Morrin said with gritted teeth, Dyre did just that.

"[Open Purgatory]" Dyre said with his arms stretched forward, and soon his armor and spear appeared before him.

As Dyre was putting on his armor, Morrin turned to his king with an eyebrow raised. Mammon who was leisurely watching the young Dyre prep themselves, now had a grim and confused look on her face.

Morrin was now surprised again, because in his years of serving Mammon he had never seen that look on her face.

Morrin snapped back to reality when he heard a familiar sound of armor clanking together. Soft yet strong as he once again turned to the boy standing in front of him.

'Midas' Armor?' Morrin said to himself, staring at the small body now covered in a very familiar set of plate armor.

Midas an old foe of his and somewhat a rival until his hunger of gold got the better of him and Mammon erased him where he stood for daring to try and steal from her realm.

And as Morrin thought about it alot of questions arose around the young Dyre. But he knew that now was not the time for questions.

And as Dyre fully armed himself, Mammon's voice echoed around the arena.

"These are the rules, whoever wins is to be the champion of hell and the winner decides the fate of the loser, are you both ready?"

"I am ready." Morrin said, readying his bident pointing at Dyre.

Dyre took a deep breath, and readied his spear as he breathed out.

"Ready!" Dyre roared as the two warriors rushed at each other.

Dyre pulled his spear back as he ran and jumped into the air with [Lighten] gained a great height.

Morrin seeing this chose not to follow instead pulled his bident back. the sound of his movements sounding like leather twisting.

And as Dyre slowly started to float down, readied his spear in a position and used [Weighten].

"Wyvern Cleaver!" he yelled as he fell at an impossible speed for someone his size. And as Morrin heard this boy scream out the attack name without a care.

And with a smile Morrin decided to do something he hadn't done in a long, very long time. Within the basalt arena the bident in the General of Greed turned from a dull silver silver color changed to bright red. And after the color change the weapon bursted into flames and as Dyre was right above Morrin.

["Pyre Flare!"] Morrin roared as his flaming Bident clashed with Dyre's Galebulg but as the weapons classed a huge stream of fire erupted out of the bident.

Like a large wave the flames pushed back the young Dyre and completely covered him as the flames covered him like tar.

But Dyre did not stay still for he then immediately used [Lighten] and rushed at the towering demon, his incredible speed not catching Morrin of guard readied his Bident again but instead of fire bursting on the tip again.

The bright red color changed once again to a light blue with frost coating the entirety of the demon's weapon, and as Dyre rushed at his opponent they once again clashed.

"[Weightless Flurry]!"

"[Frozen Torrent]!"

The two warriors shouted as they both used the fastest moves they knew. The fast polearms striking each other to a halt before the attacks could meet their target.

Their clashes producing so much force that it put out that once raged on Dyres body.

Then Morrin stopped his onslaught on Dyre, he pulled back his bident and put it above his head.As he took the attacks head on with nothing but his body to take the damage.

Dyre kept up his flurry of blows, Morrin took more and more damage as his bindent once again changed to a dull yellow.

And before Dyre could notice the small particles of sand hovering around the weapon, Morrin smiled.

"[Dune Maker]!"

The General of Greed roared. And as he slammed down his bident the small amount of sand grew in amount until Morrin slammed down a mountains worth of sand where his opponent once stood.

But as Morrin looked upon his great creation, he noticed a figure standing on its peak.

A figure, who Morrin swore even with the helmet covering his face was smiling.
