Chapter 20 - Earth Magic

Denalli was watching through a massive crystal a sparring match between Morrin and Dyre.

The Unamed's intent was to monitor the young beacon and to see if he would let anything slip, but after six whole months of just training and getting nowhere fast he decided to leave the responsibility to Denali.

Of Course Denali, the general of wrath who actually had important things to do, would only check every other week or so.

Until a month ago when something had caught her eye, Dyre was alone with only a book in his hands.

A book Denali instantly recognized, it was the access point for all earth magic.

Their magic, now that was something Denali had to see, a brat that came from the Blaze clan trying earth magic.

That was something for the history books, the lich thought to themselves until they saw Dyre finally got to the end of the book.

Dyre closed the book along with his eyes and raised his hand, Denali laughed at the foolish boy who thought he could use a real spell by only reading a magic book once.

They laughed until Dyre opened his mouth and said confidently.

"[Stone Lance]"

And with that shout a giant spyre of rock pierced out of the floor much to Denali's shock.

"How?" They said utterly baffled at the young beacon.

And as time rolled on they continued to be surprised by the potential of Dyre Beacon. They watched as he fully mastered stone magic, something that took Denali 2 years, which was already impressive for their clan, Dyre did in a week.

They watched as everytime he picked up something new he would never let it go, always finding some use for it later.

After Dyre mastered sand magic, he had already learned how to cast two spells at once and do so while sparring with the general of greed, Morrin.

Denali couldn't care less about how he got Morrin to the ring of Pride, but what surprised Denali was how good Dyre was about using magic for the first time in a combat setting.

No wasted movements, perfect mana management, and the ability to think ahead. It was like Denali was seeing a younger version of themselves.

They were surprised, no they were excited as they watched the young boy grow into an incredible earth mage.

And this excitement carried on through to the current sparring session. Dyre had fully mastered the beginnings of golemancy much to their excitement.

Morrin stood in the middle of the training area surrounded. He held the bident tight in his grip, its hue a light blue.

The beings that surrounded him were ten feet tall and five feet wide, their faces blank and all were different shades of stone.

After Dyre completed his training with Morrin, Dyre asked if he could come sometimes as a sparring partner, to which Morrin happily agreed.

But Morrin was expecting a head on duel, warrior vs warrior not being Dyre's grindstone.

"You are getting better at this." Morrin said with a smile of sharp teeth, as he then started to tear through the golem army.

Dyre sat not far away from the hoard of golems, focusing on controlling all of them at once.

For the last month Dyre has been studying all forms of earth magic, from sand and stone to the last one available from the game, golemancy.

As the two trained together, they had still failed to notice their spectator.

As a small crystal was concealed in the training room's west wall.

Dyre smiled as he roared.

"Charge!"

At the command of their creator the stone golems all charged at the demon with fists raised high.

Morrin wasn't at all fazed with the army descending on him. The first golem to reach Morrin brought its massive arms together ready to slam down.

Morrin only smiled and pierced through it at blinding speed only to be met by four more golems with their hands raised.

All four slammed down at the same time, shaking the training room.

As he was slammed into the ground another golem grabbed Morrin by the ankle and threw him into the opposite wall cracking it.

Now Denali was truly enjoying this, for centuries they saw Morrin waste their magical potential.

Not many could say they had access to all four magic affinities, true it was through his special weapon but that didn't mean he could not cast spells.

They were the one who had taught him sand magic in the first place, and while not as good as them it did not mean Morrin had no talent.

Truly this 'training session' was doing a lot for Denali, they finally felt at ease knowing that they were soon not the only one who could hold the name sage of stone.

Through the crystal screen Dyre was helping Morrin up. The huge demon's weight gave the young man no trouble even though Morrin was four times Dyre's size.

"So, what is next?" Morrin said dusting himself off while the room around the two repaired itself

"Going to try and make the earth beneath us swallow me whole?" Morrin said as dramatically as he could.

That provocation made Denali shake in excitement, but was confused at Dyre who was shaking his head.

"There's nothing left to learn sadly." Dyre said, disheartened, shaking his head.

"There must be more somewhere!" Behemoth roared in the back of Dyre's head. But what could he do? He had learned all earth attributed magic in the game and Dyre had no clue about where to find it.

Earth magic itself was an enigma in Hero's Legacy, while the other three elemental magics had five different magic schools, But earth only had three.

They're is a sage class for every element, except earth.

There is a clan for every element, the Burning clan, the Torrent clan, and the Gale clan.

But yet again nothing for earth, it was as if earth had been cursed.

But as if to deny him this train of thought, the room shook.

And after the shaking stopped, Lilith opened the door to the training room.

"There's someone here to see you child." She said dully as Dyre heard someone complaining outside in the hall.

And the one thing that he could make out of the wrath filled ranting that could be heard

"What do you mean there's nothing left!"
