Dyre was quite surprised, The Diamond Lich, the general of wrath themselves was here and reprimanding him about 'quitting' on earth magic.
Quickly Dyre's surprise turned to confusion.
"Quitting? There was literally nothing left to learn." he thought to himself and Behemoth.
"Then they must know something we dont." the ancient voice spoke to him.
And while the litch was still chastising him for wasting his obvious gifts he interrupted them.
"What else is there?" He was truly curious about what he had missed. He knew that while the knowledge of the game was right, it loved to leave things out.
The general was almost flabbergasted at now being interrupted by the welp that was wasting his talent. But then paused at that question, was the boy joking? Did he not know the greatness that higher level earth magic had to offer.
"You really dont know? Do you." they said almost heart broken, they tone surprisingly soft.
"What heights earth magic achieved." they continued, Dyre nodding his head for he truly had no idea, and the general saw the honesty the boy displayed and was horrified, turning away from him and to his mother.
Lilith was many things, but not a liar and when the litch turned to her she spoke honestly.
"Earth magic has long been thrown aside by the mortal realm." Lilith said with pitying eyes.
Even without any flesh on their face the feelings were on full display. There hands gripping the sides of their cloak as the silently tried completely understand what they had been told.
The room stayed quiet, the diamond litch mourned silently about the state of their magic had degraded too.
Then they turned to face the young boy once again, and asked a very simple question.
"Would you like to know?"
…
It had been a couple days since the litch had offered Dyre the forgotten magics of the earth.
Dyre was excited about learning more about earth magic, for he truly loved bettering himself.
And because of Behemoth now being a part of him, it felt exhilarating to use magic with an elemental affinity.
"I told you so." Behemoth said snarkily, Dyre only nodded while chuckling conceding to his other half.
The litch had told Lilith and Dyre that they needed to get some things for teaching purposes, and they would be right back.
So while Dyre waited by helping his mother by tending to the garden.
And as he tended to the garden he stopped and enjoyed the scenery. Bountiful fruit trees that lead to large plains of grasslands. Where streams of crystal clear water flowed through, and with this beautiful sight he allowed himself to sit down and relax for the first time in a while.
"It is nice to once in a while allow oneself the pleasure of true rest." behemoth said with a similar relaxed tone.
And as he stood there enjoying the scenery of this mini eden. he felt a bony hand grip onto his left shoulder, and with an air of dismay he never had felt before.
"I have many things to teach and you have things to learn, come with me." The litch's grim voice spoke and with it the start of Dyre's most hellish training he would ever receive in his life.
…
Dyre breathed heavily as he laid there in the newly formed crater inside his training room.
The litch had made him face magic he had never before seen with only the magic he had learned himself.
Why he had to do this was that the litch wanted him to correct his foundations before learning the higher tiers of earth magic.
He had weathered it all, Massive sandstorms, earthquakes, unknown golems, even the litches namesake diamond magic.
And after the first week Dyre had gained more than he ever had learning by himself.
[Earthly Body]
For when one has truly understood the endurance of earth
Adds strength and vitality stats to earth spells increasing the power
and
Decreases the amount of man needed for earth based spells by fifty percent
[Master of Golems]
You are the general of an army of your making.
Reduces the amount of mana to operate a golem by one tenth of the original
Stops requiring concentration to keep golem's active
Now these two traits were a game changer for Dyre. while before he could barely do feisty golems at a time.
He could now lead five hundred quite comfortably, and also fight while leading the charge instead of having to concentrate on the spell itself.
Thinking about how much he had grown in only the past week made Dyre start laughing from pure joy, still inside of the crater.
And after a while of enjoying himself he spoke to his new instructor who had appeared above him.
"What is next Litch?" Dyre said looking up.
The Litch cocked their head to the question and then thought for a moment.
"My name is Dennali, and you will call me teacher." they said in a stern tone.
Dyre smiled, and quickly lifted himself up from the now healing crater.
"So, what now?" Dyre asked and he did a slight bow then continued.
"Great teacher Dennali." Dyre said in the most respectful voice Denali ever heard.
Dennali chuckled to themselves and asked themself that very same question.
'Indeed, what should I teach you next? My great prodigious student.'
