Chereads / Hell Bound Legacy / Chapter 16 - New Challenger

Chapter 16 - New Challenger

"What do you mean he's our champion?!"

A massive demon roared, he had just returned from a trip from the mortal plain. And had just learned the identity of the first champion of hell. Smoke rose from his nostrils and ash acted as spittle as he roared in rage.

"And on top of all that it's the child of that blood hungry bastard!" he continued, his veins bulging along his massive frame.

"Silence Morrin." Mammon said annoyed, rubbing her temples growing annoyed at her general's complaining.

It had been a month since giving the foolish child the ring of purgatory, and her general had just returned after two years of protecting her treasury, a legendary hoard so big it took a whole other realm to store it.

Even though it was nearly impossible for anyone else but her to get in, many foolish demons and mortals alike had tried for her treasure.

But the reason that her general Morrin was so angry, is the fact that he coveted the title of hell's champion himself.

"Look, I already told you. The boy is as good as dead, now I don't know how he knows about the ring of purgatory. But there are only two ways it is going to go for our 'champion'.

"One, he's foolish enough to think that he can slay Behemoth and will die. Or two he's going to try and use purgatory as a vault realm.

"Either way he will eventually die to the beast, and a actual champion will fill his place." Mammon said with confidence in her words, much to her general's annoyance.

"Oh like you thought he would fall to Allabelle?" Morrin said, more annoyed than ever.

"And I don't care if he dies tomorrow it will never change that the first champion of hell. Is that bastard Owen's spawn!" Morrin roared, obviously unable to contain his rage at this event.

"Then what do you want, Morrin?" Morrin, surprised by his king seemingly giving in to him.

And then despite all the roaring he had done earlier, the words he then spoke were only a whisper.

"I want to erase that poor excuse that dares to be called Dyre."

Dyre was in the dining room with Lilith, enjoying lunch. Even after becoming so strong and gaining so much power.

He still knew hunger, and now he was truly at a crossroads as his path of a warrior. But not in a way that he had no idea what to do. No, it was that he had so many choices in front of him.

Magic, many more classes, and he hasn't even finished digesting what he already devoured. Gae Bulg still slumbered, he hadn't fully mastered anything he already had except the training methods, and now he was a beast lord.

"Let's just see what we have right now." Dyre heard Behemoth from the back of his head. Agreeing with his other half he opened his status page.

"Well it's a start, but the good thing is we have plenty of time before the main story starts." Behemoth said and then looked to the skills page.

"Hm, Why don't you use the defensive arts?" Dyre pulled up the skill to answer Behemoth.

 [Golden Beast Defensive Arts]

This skill is about defensive and countering moves, power of said moves depend on defense and resistance stats.

First Move {Golden Catcher}

Seeing this Behemoth understood, "Well it's good that I'm here now." Dyre nodded, Now that he had a defense and resistance stat of his own the golden beast defense arts were now at a completely different level of strength.

Then Lilith seemed to have noticed something, and asked Dyre to continue to eat as she disappeared in front of him. Dyre just shrugged and kept thinking about other paths of power.

"We could try learning earth magic."

Behemoth suggested, magic was all about affinity and the trait child of gia meant they were meant to become a master of all things earthan.

But there was one problem, earth magic in Hero's legacy wasn't the best. Not even having a legendary class like the other elements.

"My mother's element knows no equal in its stubbornness and its might. I know this is a path we must tread, if we want to go against heaven." Behemoth said sternly, feeling Dyre's reluctance to the idea.

"Well, it's not like I can use any other element." Dyre said, knowing that he would at max level 4 class slots. So what harm could it bring for using it in an earth magic based class?

"But what should the fourth one be used for?" Dyre asked Behemoth, but before he could give a suggestion, Lilith had returned.

She was obviously annoyed, Dyre swore he heard her teeth grinding as she looked at him.

"You have been challenged by Morrin the general of avarice." She said angrily, but to this Dyre was not that surprised.

He was a human with the title of hell's champion, it would be surprising if he didn't get challenged.

"Okay, when and where, mom?" Dyre said after finishing off his plate. Lilith sighed and then spoke.

"Today."

Lilith said with clenched teeth, Dyre for once did have a shocked look on his face. Then made a small chuckle and soon after that started to laugh furiously.

"Wow, he must really want me dead huh?"

Dyre said, through short breaths, Lilith's face only darkened. She slammed her hands on the table and screamed.

"This is not the progeny tournament! You can die if you are not careful! This is absolutely no time for jokes!"

Lilith said with tears in her eyes and the tears were of a deep silver color. When Dyre saw this he immediately felt guilty.

"Look mom, I'll win, I promise." He said while trying to comfort the obviously destrait Lillith. He put his hand on her shoulder and for the first time in a long while hugged someone.

After them silently embracing Dyre was the first to speak.

"You know that time you hugged me, when I first came to the ring of pride. Was the first time I was hugged in a very long time.

I know that they didn't care but it took a while to understand what that meant. What a home meant, What a family meant, and what a mother meant.

Dyre then started to cry too, but continued speaking.

"I forgot what it felt like, someone being proud of you." Dyre said as his hug became tighter around Lilith.

Lilith brought head up to look at her son, to this Dyre smiled

What she saw was her child smiling with silver tears flowing down his face.

"I will always be proud of you, my child." Lilith said, whipping off his tears with a cloth she got from the dining table.

As she was cleaning her child, she then told her child.

"You have a challenge to conquer!"
