Two days have passed and Max was family back too good shap and his roommate were happy to see him back on his feet but moline was mad at him for almost dying sure If max died he would be a spirit but moline doesn't want him to die right now max was on a mission with one of his mentors Miguel max accepted a solo mission about lost soul on a baseball field that was shut down because of bankruptcy but also because it said that a rival baseball player killed was rumored to have killed another player from the other team of course nobody knows the truth but that aside Miguel decided to tag along because he wanted to make sure that max is alright.
Max and Miguel were outside the abandoned baseball field
Max: so what do you think?
Miguel: well either we are facing tough enemies or a territory but I don't sense one.
Max: no I mean about what happened with the players did one killed the other or was it an accident?
Miguel: well we don't know but this happens weeks ago and so far nothing.
Max: don't you think that's pretty wierd exo has the best information scouts how come they didn't found anything?
Miguel: it's not that scouts are just people that report about a Losts souls or new problems not crimes so the job of investigating what happened is for those who are in the detective department of course other people in E.X.O can do there own detective work like you did.
Max: I guess but still I wonder what happened.
Miguel: we did enough sight seeing let's go inside.
Max: yes sir.
They went inside the field and it was a mess the orange dirt was now mud and the white platforms were dirty.
Max: Jesus they really didn't both getting people to clean this place.
Miguel: whatever happened here it most have been big.
Max: didn't this showed up like half a month ago?
Miguel: yes it did but we were busy with other things that we didn't much time to cover the news Only the scouts reported this the agency we just got it a little late and thanks to you being injured and recovering your memories we are investigating if there any cultists that are causing problems.
Max: I see Miguel can I ask you something?
Miguel: go ahead
Max: when exorcist kill humans or cultists to be more specific why don't they become spirits?
Miguel: well because spiritual energy users can damage souls of humans.
Max: so it's like we are damaging both the body and the soul?
Miguel: yes and no like explained before the human body is like a cocoon for the soul the more it develops the soul will develop too but when the cocoon is broken the soul leaves the body and takes form depending if the person is actually mentally strong to accept the reality that they are no longer human they become a monster and some because protectors like Ren and fedi.
Max: well I guess that make sense and animals do because spirits too yeah?
Miguel: yeah animal are living too so of course they can become spirits if they die. like pure souls they stick around there loved ones to protect them and animals that become lost souls they get out of control.
Max: hey Miguel I sense something.
Miguel walked towards max who was on one knee looking at the ground Miguel used his senses and he sensed some remnants of spiritual energy.
Miguel: I think is a good idea for you to use those black arms of yours.
Max: okay but still getting used to my ability.
Miguel: well good thing I'm here to make sure nothing bad happens.
Max: i guess
Max got out his black arms and he shifted it into a shovel but it was too big.
Miguel: make it a little smaller we don't need to go crazy with this.
Max: yeah like I said I'm not used to this.
Max made the shovel small enough to not cause a scene he started to dig up the dirt and Miguel grab a shovel near the place to help out after a while the found something buried here it was a body of a baseball player Miguel wasn't distributed much by this but max was holding back the urge to puke his guts out.
Miguel: I recognize this mam he is Clinton Barry he was a famous base ball player and he was very successful but he disappeared and was never seen again guess we now know were his body is.
Max: so..... what do you think happened was someone jealous of him and killed him?
Miguel: that's a possibility but something doesn't add up.
Max: what do you mean?
Miguel got out his phone and showed max a photo of Clinton when he was alive and the baseball field that there in now.
Miguel: while I was getting a shovel I decided to check out the history of this place apparently this is the place that Clinton became well known and when he died the place was losing popularity and it died down that either mean that someone lured or got him here and killed him and buried his body but what killed them.
Max looked at the rotten corpes and again he hold the urge to puke but he decided to brute force it.
Max: I'm not a genius but I don't see any stabbing wounds so it wasn't a stab and I don't think there was anything report of a gun shot and there is no missing limbs what do you think?
Max looked up to Miguel and saw that his green eyes were red and was looking at the corpse like he was looking for something.
Max: Miguel are you okay?
Miguel: I'm fine I'm using my ability
After a while Miguel's eyes turn back to green and he looked like he figured something out.
Miguel: well like you said there is no stabbing wounds and there is no bullet injuries and there is no missing limbs but his head has a crack but in it possible blunt force trauma but that's not what killed him.
Max: okay that's cool but what did killed him?
Miguel: well his muscles are weak and is skin is sunken but the part that is the most likely the cause of death his stomach.
Max listened to Miguel and he started to get the picture but when Miguel mentioned the stomach max had a horrifying conclusion.
Max: holy shit you mean the poor guy was buried alive and he died due to to starvation!?
Miguel: seems like it If we were to put it all together when like this.
Clinton was probably lured into this place the culprit sneak up behind him and use a blunt object it's possible that it was a bat or one of the shovels the culprit hit him on the head and knocked him out then we don't know the reason why but the culprit decided to bury him in the baseball field and when he was done he walked away and Clinton woke up and he tried to get out but off course he was too deep and the very little space there wasn't any chance to escape and he slowly died due to starvation whoever did this they made sure to do this murder quickly.
Miguel: we don't know who killed him or why but if this culprit might be a rival baseball player or someone else.
Max was stunned at hearing Miguel going full detective on him and he imagined all of those scenarios in a comic book like style and that just made it easier and more sadder for the poor man who died in a horrible way. But something was bothering him.
Max: wait if he died here where is his spirit?
Miguel: no clue he could be going after his killer or something else.
The conversation was interrupted by 4 lost soul coming from the watchers seats and the looked at Miguel and max like they were prey.
Max was ready for a fight but Miguel stopped him.
Miguel: no these guys are mine I came with you to make sure of your safety.
Max: what!? I have an ability I can fight better with this.
Miguel: you said it your self max you are not used to your power so you have no idea how to use it fully for now just stand back and don't get the wrong idea I'm aware you can fight hand to hand but you almost died and if you didn't awaken your ability you would have died so learn when to stand down and let some fight for you.
Max really didn't like to be treated like he was fragile but Miguel was right he was stabbing in the liver and in the leg and he did almost died if it wasn't for the impact to the head he would have been killed by that knight so he did as Miguel Said and stood back and watch
Miguel reached in jacket and got out two daggers linked with a chain that had 2 halves of an eye gem Miguel looked at the lost in front of him and his eyes once again turned red.
Miguel: I'm going to exploit your weak points.
