The festival was in full swing in the village. Everyone was enjoying themselves and in a celebratory mood. It had been two months since the last festival and for some it had felt like a distant memory. Music played loudly and there was a relaxed happy and content mood all over. In a post apocalyptic world where survival and death ran hand in hand, these emotions were rare and precious. However, there were some in the village that had forgotten about that. They were about to receive a rude wake up call.

The Leader looked out of the window in his office . The bright colors, a beautiful sun and the sound of water greeted him. He was satisfied. The village was safe and so far they had succeeded in evading that darned *murogi's prophecy. The prophecy had insisted on destruction of the village in this decade. However, with the decade almost over there was nothing to worry about. The village will survive.
" Aren't you going to enjoy yourself sir"? his aide asked. She was standing at the door holding files on her right hand. How can I when you're bringing in more work?, he thought. Loudly he said, " I'll go later." He turned back and went back to what he was doing. The aide looked at him and sighed. Once a workaholic, always a workaholic she thought as she stepped into her desk and started working as well. The leader looked up and smiled. They continued to work in silence.

Thia stood at the water's edge and looked at his watch. He hadn't seen Kim in the last three days. He had tried calling him but a girl's voice answered telling him that Kim was indisposed. Indisposed? who says that nowadays he had thought. She had hung up after that and the rest of his calls went unanswered. Could it be his girlfriend? He thought smiling. He may even be spending time with her he thought as an r rated image crossed his mind. " Kinuthia, go buy some fruits and fruit candy from the store over there ," his father, who stood behind him with a foot in water, told him, breaking his thoughts. He nodded and rushed off. His father looked at him proudly. He had originally been against his son being a warrior but allowed him to go. Seeing him happy satisfied him. It was the right decision.
Thia came back with the fruits and candies and gave them to his family. In a spur of a moment, he took out his phone and called Kim. He was about to give up and end the call when voice answered. "Yo," it was Kim. " Where are you"? he asked worriedly. It was Kim just that his voice sounded weak. " Umm", he was hesitating but was interrupted by Thia. " Just tell me where you are and I'll come pick you up". " Its ok I'm fine Thee don't worry I'm at a friends house ".

Looking at the unconscious boy, Shiku's father immediately realized what was actually going on. " Honey can you open the lab now", he said sternly. Shiku's mother gave the keys to Shiku who ran off and opened the lab. He carried the boy in, placing him gently on the small hospital bed. He had just set up the MRI scan when Kim woke up. Concealing his excitement, he asked the boy," How are you feeling"? Kim looked around him and said, " I feel great," in a deep groggy voice. A little too well for that matter he thought. Shiku looked at him and said, " You're okay right"? Kim nodded and was about to answer when the phone rang. It was Thia.
Outside, everyone was having a good time when out of the blue. The dreaded black siren rang out across the village. They were under attack.
