Chapter 22 - friend or foe

Victor Von Domon's facial expressions became icy as he exuded a sense of superiority over the others. Roland felt the air around him getting colder, but he refused to be intimidated by his opponent or anyone. He spoke out to Victor Von Domon, "You are just a thug who works for Tony Blend. How dare you try to intimidate me? Even your boss will have to show me some respect." Victor, with a sinister smile on his face, replied, "It is not Tony Blend you should be afraid of. You have offended someone more powerful than Tony Blend. Someone even Tony Blend is wary of." As Victor finished speaking, Roland's mind became puzzled. He was unable to understand and stared at Marcy and Moore, trying to figure out what was happening. He had a puzzled look on his face when he spoke again. "You mean Tony Blend is wary of this person? Are you trying to say you don't work for Tony Blend anymore?" Victor, with a smug smile, spoke again. "Who I work for is not the matter here, but what you do now." Roland thought about it for a while before deciding to test the water. Sensing he had the upper hand, he gave a shout-out to the twenty skilled fighters to attack. Victor was taken aback by Roland's sudden outcry. He didn't expect Roland to issue such an outrageous cry to attack. It was very bold, unusual and rather shocking. So Victor Von Domon was caught off guard by this decision. Before he could compose himself, he was surrounded by the skilled fighters, and even though he could fight, he still couldn't go up against twenty skilled fighters. Moore, sensing the danger around Victor, gave a glance at the members of the west side gang, indicating they should help Victor. The men immediately understood what Moore meant and sprang rapidly into action.

In a flurry of unexpected events, Victor found himself in a perilous situation after being ambushed by some unidentified adversaries. In a swift yet courageous response, he showcased his determination and valor by fearlessly confronting the assailants head-on, despite being outnumbered. His unwavering confidence shone through as he managed to incapacitate two of his attackers simultaneously, displaying remarkable combat skills.

However, the odds quickly turned against Victor when he was blindsided and viciously struck from behind, leaving him disoriented and vulnerable. Momentarily questioning his fate, a stroke of providence intervened just in time as members of the West Side gang stepped in to shield him from further harm, effectively thwarting the impending threat. Their timely intervention not only saved Victor from a potentially fatal blow but also signaled a newfound bond of camaraderie and protection amidst the chaos.

This unforeseen alliance amidst adversity serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of events and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of danger. Victor's trials and triumphs in this harrowing encounter underscore the importance of courage, loyalty, and solidarity in times of crisis.

He immediately composed himself, stood up, and started to fight again. The intensity of the fight increased, even though the west side gang now outnumbered the skilled fighters three to one. The skilled fighters still had the upper hand. Roland now had a smug expression on his face, proud of himself for training and bringing these twenty skilled fighters. Marcy, on the other hand, had an icy expression. She glanced at Moore, who had a nonchalant look on his face. She spoke in a low voice, "Do you mind if I join in on the action?" Moore, with a stern expression now, thought to himself about Marcy, always the soldier, before patting her on the shoulder and saying, "Let's give Victor a chance. Let's see if he has any other secret moves." Just as Moore finished speaking, Victor made a move that was even more daring. He flipped himself in the air and transformed into a ghost-like mirage, leaving everyone bewildered and dumbfounded at the same time. This was a technique that had been lost in the history of time. To see someone performing such a beautifully ancient technique flawlessly was a sight to behold. Marcy, with a stern look on her face, thought to herself, "So he knows the Shadowless technique. Impressive." Roland, on the other hand, had a grim expression. Within a minute of performing the Shadowless technique, Victor had taken down half of Roland's twenty skilled fighters. Everyone was in awe of Victor now. The remaining skilled fighters began to back down, as if saying, "It is not worth our lives."

Before long, all of the skilled fighters had been rounded up by Victor Von Domon and the members of the West Side gang, leaving Roland in a precarious situation. He was forced to take a step back and assess the turn of events. After composing himself, he summoned all his strength and courage and spoke again, just as I said in the beginning. "I'm sorry for barging in, but I believe we can resolve this matter peacefully before it gets out of control." Victor snorted in response before stating that things were already out of control. "When you thought you had the upper hand, you didn't try to resolve things. But now that you've lost half of your men, you suddenly want to resolve the issue peacefully? Who do you think we are? Someone you can just push over?"

Roland was about to speak again when Marcy yelled, "Enough!" She continued, "I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. We gave you a choice and a chance to save yourself and your son, but you choose to be impetuous. Now you have to face the consequences of that choice." Marcy gave a stern look at Victor, who immediately understood her intention.

Before Victor could carry out the order, Moore spoke up in a loud voice. "Hold it! Why have enemies when we can have friends or allies? We don't need to press the issue now that Roland has realized his mistake. I'm sure he will punish his son accordingly." Facing Roland, Moore continued, "I'm giving you a choice now: friend or foe?"

Roland Kelly thought it over for a while. His legs had given out, and he was now on his knees, expecting Victor to strike him down. However, with Moore's intervention, his demeanor changed from fearful to fearless and confident. He gritted his teeth before saying, "I would like to be your friend and ally, Mr. Moore."
