Chapter 28 - Kais Bold Move

Kai slapped the leader across the face, and he landed on the floor, still conscious. Kai said, "Wake up, I'm not done with you yet."

The leader looked fearful and stumbled to his feet. As he looked into Kai's face, he saw a fierce determination.

"Please don't hit me again," the leader begged. "I'll tell you everything."

Kai's expression remained firm. "That's what I want now. Tell me who sent you."

The leader swallowed hard. "It was... Mister Raymond Baxton."

Kai's eyes narrowed. "Ain't that... uh... ain't that Brayton's dad?"

The leader nodded, still looking fearful. "Y-yes, that's right. Mister Baxton sent us because... because you hit his son, Brayton. You humiliated him, and now Mister Baxton wants to beat you up. He wants to take care of you."

Kai's expression turned cold. "Oh, is that so?"

The leader nodded again, still cowering.

Kai's eyes flashed with warning. "Send him a message. Tell Mister Baxton that he should stay away from me. Watch his next move. I'm letting him off with a warning. If he tries anything funny, he'll get what's coming to him."

The leader nodded hastily, still looking fearful. "I'll tell him, I'll tell him."

Kai looked at the leader and said, "So you think I'm still dumb, you think I'm stupid? Do you want to make me angry? Do you think I'm so stupid as to let you go like this?"

The leader trembled, "N-no, please..."

Kai's eyes narrowed, "I know you have a recording device under your jacket. Take it out now, or that other eye of yours is going to be blue and black. Do you understand me?"

The leader thought to himself, "How did he know? We were trying to record him..." He hesitantly reached under his jacket and pulled out the recording device.

Kai's eyes seemed to bore into the leader's soul, "And I know there are still two people listening to us from another room. I know there's a room full of people hearing every word we say."

The leader's eyes widened in fear, "W-what? Who is this?!"

Kai sneered, "Yeah, I know all about your little operation. You think I'm just some nobody? You think I'm just someone you can run over? You gotta think twice. You mess with the wrong dude, bro."

The leader begged, "I-I beg of you, please..."

Kai cut him off, "Shut up. I told you, I'm going to let you off with a warning. But I'm telling you right now, delete all your files or I'm going to get you."

The leader nodded hastily, "Y-yes, I'll delete everything."

Kai's eyes seemed to gleam with intensity, "This is the last message I'm going to give to those who are listening. Stay away from me."

Kai closed his eyes, concentrated, and suddenly the audio feed in the other room went dead.

Mister Baxton stood in the room, furious, "What's happening? What happened to the audio?"

The tech guy shook his head, "I-I don't know, sir."

Kai pulled out his phone and dialed Mister Baxton's number, "Hello, Mister Baxton."

Mister Baxton sneered, "You're just a little scrawny boy. What can you do to me?"

Kai's voice was calm, "Oh, I can do nothing to you... yet. But for the next three days, you're going to be in a wheelchair."

Kai concentrated hard, and Mister Baxton suddenly felt a searing pain in his legs. He fell to the ground, crying out in agony.

The people in the room rushed to his side, "Mister Baxton, what's happening?!"

Kai dropped the phone, a cold smile spreading across his face.

Mister Baxton looked up, his eyes filled with fear, "What... what is this? Sorcery?!"

Kai stood over the leader, looking down at him. "You, get up, take your two boys, and get out of my way."

The leader and his men scrambled to their feet and quickly retreated.

Kai took the recording device from the leader's hand and crushed it like it was nothing.

With that, Kai walked over to his car and stepped inside. Mike looked at him with concern. "Yo, bro, what was happening? I just heard some things flying and sounds happening. What happened? Did you have a fight with those guys?"

Kai shrugged. "Eh, I just taught them a lesson not to mess with me."

Mike's eyes widened. "Whoa, bro, since we left the game shop, you've been in fights all day long. We're really taking a spin in this car, aren't we?"

Kai chuckled. "Maybe they're jealous of the nice car of mine."

Mike laughed. "Yeah, maybe it's that."

Kai's expression turned serious. "But I know there are some people who are going to come after me, and they're going to want what I have."

Mike looked at him with concern. "What do you mean, bro?"

Kai smiled. "Don't worry about it, Mike. I can handle myself. And besides, Mister Reginald was really generous to give me this car. I'm not going to disappoint him by messing it up."

Mike nodded. "Yeah, bro, this is a really nice car. One of my dream cars, actually."

Kai grinned. "Oh, don't worry, bro. You can have the other car of mine, the one in the garage."

Mike's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? But what about your mom?"

Kai chuckled. "No, bro, you forget. I have a Mercedes S-Class, and I have this car. And my mom has another car. We have three cars, bro. You can have one of them."

Mike looked at Kai with gratitude. "Thanks, bro. Thanks a lot."

Kai smiled. "No problem, bro. We've been friends since grade two, and we've always looked out for each other. You're my bro, Mike."

As they drove around town, Kai said, "Bro, let's go home. I think we can head back now."

Mike agreed, "Yes, we'll go home. I'm really hungry, man."

Kai smiled, "I want to taste what my mom has cooked for the day."

Mike's eyes lit up, "Yes, bro, we can eat at your big mansion." He said with a smile.

They drove a bit more, taking some turns and twists through the town, before heading straight to the mansion in Oakwood Hills.

The security guard looked at them once, recognized the car, and let them in.

As they pulled up, two people standing outside looked at them in awe. "Wow, look at that car! Wasn't that Mister Reginald's car? That car is worth almost two million. What are they, young boys? What is this young boy doing in that car? I don't understand."

The woman nodded, "Yes, that car is Mister Reginald's. I know it must be. So how could these boys be driving that car? This is absurd."

The man shook his head, "I don't know, but I saw a technician come and fix something at the house. He went inside and did something, and then he came out."

The woman's eyes widened, "Really? So the technician came. Then it's really true. They are taking that house for themselves. I wonder what's the connection between Mister Reginald and this boy..."

The man speculated, "Who knows, maybe he's the long-lost family member or his long-lost son or something like that."

Kai and Mike got out of the car, oblivious to the conversation outside. Kai parked the car and said, "Mike, let's get out. It's been a long day."

Mike agreed, "Really, it's been a really long day."

They went into the house, heading straight to the kitchen.

Kai walked into the house, looked around, and said, "Hey, Mom, I'm home!"

His mom replied, "Hey, Kai! Welcome home. I see you brought Mike with you."

Kai smiled, "Yeah, I did. What did you cook for dinner?"

His mom chuckled, "I made your favorite Sunday dish - roast chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables."

Mike's eyes widened, "Bro, this smells amazing!"

Kai's mom smiled, "Thank you, Mike. Help yourselves."

As they sat down to eat, Kai's mom asked, "So, that car you just drove in - Mister Reginald really gave it to you?"

Kai grinned, "Yeah, Mom, he did. And, Mom, can I ask you something?"

"Of course, sweetie. What is it?"

Kai said, "Can Mike have one of the other cars? I mean, not the Mercedes Benz S-Class, but one of the others?"

His mom looked surprised, "Kai, you have a wonderful heart. Why did you ask that?"

Kai shrugged, "I just thought it would be nice for Mike to have a car too."

His mom smiled, "Well, I think that's a great idea. Mike, you can have one of the cars in the garage. Which one would you like?"

Mike's eyes widened in amazement, "Really? Thank you, Miss Sophia! Thank you so much!"

Kai chuckled, "I told you, bro, I'd give you one of the cars."

Just then, Mike's phone rang. He answered it, and his expression changed from happiness to shock.

"Father, what's happening?" Mike asked, his voice trembling.

Kai's mom looked concerned, "Mike, what's wrong?"

Mike's voice shook, "Dad, you're saying our house is going to be sold? And we'll have nowhere to go?"

Kai's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with thoughts of what he could do to help his friend.
