She walked a far distance from her village which was Irvington to the palace. Finally reaching the palace, her legs gave way and she fell on the wet ground. The rain had already stopped falling, leaving the smell of wet earth and soaked grounds behind. The watchman who was looking through a spyglass saw her on the floor just close to the palace gates. Helena was in awe as she stared at the palace. She had never been to the palace, she could only locate it because her uncle described it for her. The gates were adorned with several gemstones that the peasants and vassals didn't dream of beholding even till their death. She counted herself lucky for beholding it's beauty but at the same time, she pitied herself because she knew she was drawing nearer to her end. If she wasn't going to be killed by her vampire uncle, she'd certainly be killed here. She had heard many stories of the king and she already dreaded him though she hadn't met him.
The watchman and the guards asked her what she wanted and she said "I want to meet the king please. It's an urgent matter". "Can't you see she's a beggar?" One of the guards said to the other. "But we can't just leave her here. She looks harmless" Another guard said. "She looks filthy though" the watchman said as he turned his back to return to his post which was the watchtower. "I'd inform the king" one of the guards said as he went on to tell a messenger then the messenger went on to inform Benjamin and Benjamin reported it to the king. Helena ignored their words, she couldn't bother herself about what they thought about her. She only wanted to talk to the king, tend to her injuries and end this stupid mission she was given.
Helena lay on the bed after she placed the paper under it. "Firstly, gain his favor" she said to herself as she she began to think and strategize what will make this mission quicker than expected..
It was night time and Gabrielle was helping her sister get on the bed. "Thank you Gabby. You're the best" Mirabelle said with a gentle smile on her face. Gabrielle smiled in return though she knew her sister couldn't see it. "You're welcome my love. Get a good rest" Gabrielle said as she kissed her younger sister's forehead before joining her on the bed that released a creaking sound when she lay on it. It was way past midnight and Mirabelle was moving uncomfortably on her bed. She was in the palace and she was dressed like royalty. She was walking along side the king. She could see his body but his face was blur. She could see everything else perfectly but only the king's face was blur. "Mirabelle" she heard the king call her name and she turned to him smiling. But the king suddenly held his chest and was coughing profusely and soon he began to cough blood. Mirabelle was tensed and she called out for help but no one came. She tried holding the king but being that she had a small frame, she couldn't hold him. She turned around and saw a young girl who with brown hair and blue eyes with the most dreaded look on her face. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" the girl said as she began to run along the corridor. Caught between whether she should run after the girl or stay with the king, Mirabelle gasped as she woke up from her dream breathing heavily. Gabrielle also woke up after she felt her sister sit up. Mirabelle was in search of Gabrielle's hand and Gabrielle quickly placed her hand in Mirabelle's.
"Are you okay? What happened?" Gabrielle asked worriedly.
"I had a dream about the king" Mirabelle said and Gabrielle stared confused.
"The king?" Gabrielle asked, making Mirabelle nod.
"Wait" Gabrielle quickly turned on a candle and held her sister's hand again. "Yes, the king" Mirabelle answered.
"What happened in the dream?" Gabrielle asked inquisitively.
"I was with the king. Then I don't know what happened to him. He started coughing and coughing and then he began coughing blood. Then I saw a girl, a girl with brown hair I think. She was apologizing for doing something, I don't know Gabby. It scared me" Mirabelle said nervously.
Gabrielle hugged her sister and said "It's okay Mira. Just try and get some sleep now. In the morning, you'd tell Papa about it. Maybe he can relay it to the king when he's gets to the palace in the morning." Gabrielle coaxed Mirabelle.
"Okay" Mirabelle said as she tried to calm down and return to sleep.
