Chapter 36 - Upcoming ball

Benjamin walked into the throne room and he paused for a moment, noticing the dense atmosphere. His eyes moved from the servant to Mr Nolan and then settled on Mirabelle. He knew Sebastian must have said something that made all of them look scared and rigid.

He had entered the throne room to inform Sebastian about something but he got welcomed by the uneasiness in the atmosphere. He walked towards Sebastian and stood by the throne. Sebastian chuckled breaking the rigidness in the atmosphere. "I was joking Mr Nolan." Mr Nolan still had a fearful look on his face though the king just mentioned that his previous statement was a joke. "I just wanted to tell your daughter that if she keeps on having dreams like that, just like you did today, come and inform me. Also, don't be worried, I'd inform the priest about it too and look into it" Sebastian continued and Mr Nolan relaxed then.

"Mirabelle right?" Sebastian's gaze moved to the girl who still seemed confused and surprised how the king knew her name. But to be honest as long as it concerned Denver, what could be hidden from the king?.

"Yes milord" Mirabelle answered. "Please don't hesitate to tell the crown about things like that. For who knows, you could be seeing the future" Sebastian concluded with a subtle smile making Benjamin glance at him.

"I won't hesitate milord" Mirabelle said as she released a smile also.

"You may leave" Sebastian said and Mr Nolan and Mirabelle stood up from the chair they were sitting on and bowed before leaving.

Benjamin chuckled inwardly because even though he wasn't present earlier, he knew that whatever the king said to them wasn't a joke to him but it was safer to say so for now. Sebastian turned to Benjamin and the man quickly reported to him "Milord, I have information about Irvington's friends and also, the new servant has been working with Evon since dawn, expecting your verdict". "We're going to have the debutante ball days from now. Let the royal court begin preparation for it" Sebastian said with his chin resting on his knuckles. "Okay sire" Benjamin said.

"For Irvington friend's, I'd change their punishment. But they'd still be punished on the scaffold in the square."

"But Milord, why did you change their punishment?" Benjamin asked curiously.

"I have more important things like the debutante ball to think about Benjamin. If you know what I mean..." Sebastian gave Benjamin a mischievous look which Benjamin strangely understood. The king only gives him that look when he has something under his sleeve and with the king mentioning the debutante ball, there really was something the king was planning. He was going to patiently wait and see the king's plan unfold.

"Ohh and about the new servant...watch her for me till I'm back. Onyx and I are going for a hunt" Sebastian stood up from the throne and walked out gracefully.

In the woods, the king of Denver was watching his pet Onyx hunt. He leaned on a tree, watching his panther stalk a prey far off. As he stayed in that position with his hands in his pockets and then bits of light began to surround him. He creased his brows as he watched. The bits of light increased to being swirls of light and soon, small human like figures with wings and pointy ears appeared before him. Sebastian's lips raised for a smile lol but he retracted it. They were faeries. The smallest of all the supernatural creatures in Denver and one of the most beautiful too. They weren't regarded as night creatures but light creatures and they were the only creatures that kept young Sebastian sane before he met young Benjamin. Young Sebastian saw them as friends and still did. "Greetings, milord" Sebastian heard one of the faeries say. They were three in number that appeared before Sebastian and they all looked alike the only difference was their hair color. Also, they were all females. "It's a pleasure to see you Adeline" Sebastian returned the greeting to the one who spoke earlier. Adeline was one of the faeries who had been with the king since he was little. "Thank you milord. Your scent was lingering in the air and I wanted to be sure it was you and not my nose playing tricks on me" she flapped her wings excitedly.

"But I must say milord, your scent is a little bit different" Adeline said as she flew closer to the king trying to inhale his scent once again.

"Different how?" Sebastian asked.

"Milord, I smell human blood on you. Did you kill any human again?" She asked with a disappointed expression. The other faeries behind her kept quiet, they weren't familiar with the king like their superior Adeline was.

"I haven't killed any human today. Well...yet" Sebastian stared at the fae who wasn't as big as the size of his palm.

"Really? I guess my nose must be twitching then. I just came to greet you Milord. We'd be having a moon festival tonight so we were preparing before we came to you" Adeline said giving the king a smile.

"I see. Thank you for approaching me. You may continue your preparation Adeline" Sebastian smiled and the faeries all bowed before flapping their beautiful wings and disappearing in the same manner they came.
