Chapter 28 - What the future holds

Father Roberts asked Mrs Nolan to let go of Mirabelle's hand. When Mrs Nolan did so, he took hold of Mirabelle and closed his eyes in a short prayer. After some minutes, Father Roberts turned to Mrs Nolan "She's your daughter my lady. As for why her injury got healed..." Father Roberts glanced at Sebastian before continuing "Well, all we can say is thank God". "God certainly works in mysterious ways" Sebastian added smiling. Mrs Nolan glanced at the three men and smiled weakly "Of course he does. Thank you Father, thank you my king, and Sire" she bowed before the three men and Mirabelle did the same." We'd be taking our leave now" Mrs Nolan said as she walked back to her family with Mirabelle by her side. She didn't like the vibe she got from the king, he was a strange man. Yes, she was happy and relieved her daughter's injury was gone but the king somehow made her feel uncomfortable.

Getting back to her husband and other two children, Mr Nolan asked "What's the problem?". He wasn't aware of everything that had happened earlier. His wife just told him to give her a minute that she wanted to speak with Father Roberts. "I'd tell you when we get home honey" Mrs Nolan said. When they arrived home, she narrated everything to her family and Mr Nolan laughed when his wife mentioned that she thought a night creature shape-shifted into Mirabelle. His wife was a worrywart. But he knew whatever she did, she did it out of love for her daughter. "Thank God she's alright" Mr Nolan concluded that topic just for his son to start a fresh topic. "The king is so handsome. I wish I was as good looking as him" Kayden uttered and Mrs Nolan quickly said "He is but all that glitters is not gold sweetie" she patted her youngest child on the shoulder. Everyone who had seen the king knew that he was a sinfully handsome man but she didn't trust him, being in his presence was uncomfortable for her. That's why she made that statement. "What do you mean honey? He's a good person, he even attended the burial of a Coachman. He humbled himself" Mr Nolan defended Sebastian because he understood why his wife said what she said. Mrs Nolan couldn't explain the weirdness she felt around the king and she knew how kind the king has been to her family so she said "That's true. Forget what I said earlier. You're also handsome my boy" she said to Kayden earning a smile from the energetic young man. "If only sister Gabrielle or sister Mirabelle could catch the eyes of the king. We'd be so much better off and if it's sister Mirabelle, she would finally be able to see!" Kayden said excited at the thought of Mirabelle getting married and regaining her sight.

When she was placed on the curse, the witch said the curse would only be lifted if a man falls in love with Mirabelle. Every member of the family knew this and hoped that one day, a good and noble man would fall in love with her. Not only for the excitement of having to be loved but also to regain her sight. Everyday, the family hoped a good man who would look beyond Mirabelle's blindness would come for her hand in marriage.

Mirabelle who heard what her brother said, giggled "A normal man or a noble hasn't even looked at me for more than thirty seconds after finding out I'm blind. The king? How impossible!" She actually found it funny that her brother thought that far. She would perfectly be fine with any man, rich or poor who accepts her for who she was but she thought targeting the king was too far or rather, too greedy.

"Awww. Don't say that Mira, who knows what the future holds? A king? A noble? A baker? Whatever, don't stop hoping" Gabrielle said poking on Mirabelle's cheeks. "Your sister is right. Someone will come, you'd find love and you'd regain your sight" Mr Nolan concluded. All these discussions were in the absence of Klaus and Marcus.

Sebastian had a smile on his face as he thought about what happened earlier. "Mirabelle" he uttered as he swirled the chair he was sitting on. Himself and Benjamin had already returned to the palace and Sebastian was feeling excited and thirsty. But not thirsty for water.
