Chapter 29. The news
The next day, Ava woke up quite early and went for another run and did a little exercise. When she returned, she dressed up for school and left. When she arrived, she went straight to the Lawn Tennis court and did a little tidying. While she was on this, the coach walked in.
"Queen", she squealed happily. Miss Riley had a liking to Ava but doesn't overlook he when she makes mistakes.
"Miss Riley", Ava greeted with a smile. She stood straight and gave her coach a bow.
"You're quite early", Miss Riley said as she looked over the court.
"Yeah. I had to".
"We're having a practice in the afternoon, isn't it too early now?", Miss Riley asked as she took out a bat and a ball.
Ava sighted the items in her hand. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the ball and bat. "I'll leave after I win you in a spar".
"Your majesty seems so sure of herself. I'm your coach remember?", Miss Riley teased.
"It's better for a student to be better than their teacher", Ava countered.
Miss Riley chuckled and handed her a bat. "Take your positions", she said.
Ava stood at her position and switched to game mode. Miss Riley smiled at her change of mood. She really idolized this player of hers. She was quite proud.
"Bring it on queen", Miss Riley said and shot a ball towards Ava's net.
Ava left after she had won Miss Riley. She went to the ladies and washed up before changing. When she got out, she witnessed different types of gazes directed towards her.
"I can't believe that this happened to her", she heard a blonde girl say while looking at her direction. The blonde girl was with two other girls.
"I think that suits her best. She thinks she's gonna be at his side forever?", one of the girls added.
"It's so heartbreaking. I can't imagine myself in that situation", another one added.
"I don't care. Thanks to Kaitlyn, we've had a lot of dramas at our school", the second girl that had spoken previously added. Ava looked at them and swallowed.
How did they find out about this? Who let the cat out of the bag? Her mind went straight to Kaitlyn. She stormed off in search of Kaitlyn.
She arrived at her department but Kaitlyn wasn't there. The gazes that were directed towards her were merciless. She hated those gazes with all of her heart.
Kyke heard the news flying around. He was angered that everyone knew. What was even more annoying was that everyone seemed to know a lot about him. His relationship with Ava? How close were they?, he asked himself. He couldn't remember and hated the fact. Kaitlyn arrived at where he was seated in his department.
"Kyle", she called in a voice she termed sweet.
Kyle looked up at her with a slight smile. Kaitlyn noticed the he wasn't really happy. "Is there a problem Kyle?", she asked with concern written all over her face.
"These news that's flying around...how come? How did they find out that I lost my memory?"
Kaitlyn sighed. "Don't worry yourself about those things. You should focus on getting better. This must be one of Ava's idea of getting your attention", she concluded.
Kyle scoffed. "Bullshit. She's not worth my time".
"Have you eaten? Let's go eat. I'll buy", Kaitlyn offered.
Kyle smiled. "Leave it. I'll buy", he said. Kaitlyn helped him up. He didn't come with his clutches today as he needed to get used to walking without it. He didn't want to reply on it. He hated them even. They arrived at the staircase leading to the cafeteria. Kaitlyn's cellphone rang.
"Could you go on? I need to take this call", she said.
"It's fine. Go", Kyle said to her. Kaitlyn smiled and left. Kyle began walking down the stairs gently but not in a sickly manner. His steps were steady. But, no matter how steady they were, he was still rehabilitating. He missed a step and was going to fall. A fall that was shameful. He tried to steady himself but the was futile. He thought he was going to fall. At that moment, he felt a pair of slender arm wrap round him, holding him from falling. The person steadied him holding him firmly.
Kyle looked at his savior and it turned out to be...the Ava girl?! As if an aversion just hit him, he pushed her. Ava's eyes widened as she wasn't expecting it and rolled down the stairs. What the hell....
She fell with a thud and passed out.
