Chapter 28. He completes her story
Ava got home that evening and met her mom in the living room on a video call.
"Hey, Ava's home", her mom squealed in excitement when she noticed Ava's presence.
"Really? I wanna see her", the male voice on the other side of the screen demanded.
Ava heard the voice of her father, which put a smile on her face. She dropped her hand bag on the floor and ran over to see the man she's been Miss for months now.
"Daddy", she called out in a voice that Mrs Bateman found coquettish. She frowned at her daughter.
"You never use that voice for me", she complained. Ava looked at her mom and laughed. "Dad's a guy. It should be that way".
"Seriously?", Mr Bateman said with a mock frown.
"Did you hear that?", Ava asked with a silly smile.
"I didn't", Mr Bateman replied with a funny shrug, causing the three of them to laugh.
"What of Compton Jr", Me Bateman asked referring to Kyle. At this moment, the whole room fell into silence. Mrs Bateman looked at her daughter and then sent a glare to her husband.
Ava's mood plummeted the moment Kyle was mentioned. She was a part of him already. Wherever she went, she'd be asked of Kyle. There's no world for her without Kyle in it. He completes her story.
Mr Bateman looked at the duo in confusion his brows arched. "Is there something going on?"
"You should have never asked", Mrs Bateman said to him.
Mr Bateman didn't need anyone to tell him that something was up. "Tell me, Ava honey...?"
"It's nothing Dad. When are you coming home?", Ava asked with a slight smile, trying to get her mood back on track.
"In two weeks",the man replied without asking further questions. He cast a glance at his wife sending a secret message to her.
"Alright. See you then...", she said and left the living room with her bag.
Mrs Bateman looked at her husband. "She has it tough these days".
"Is it okay to tell me now?", he asked.
"Yeah".
Ava got into her room and went into the bathroom straight. She undressed and stepped into the bathtub. She needed a bath. Turning on the shower, the cold drops of water fell on her little bit tanned skin which was smooth and silky. However, the coldness couldn't be compared to the coldness she has received from her bestie. It hurt more right now because in his mind and heart, she doesn't exist. She has always dreamed and painted a world where it was them. But now, does she even have the right to? The scene of what happened at school flashed before her eyes. He was quite happy with Kaitlyn. And he hated her.
But why did this accident have to happen? All of a sudden? Everything was starting to get on track after Kaitlyn tried to set him up but now... She heaved a deep sigh as tears rolled down her cheeks.
After some minutes, she dressed up in her sports joggers and went for a run. She needed some exercises as a game was around the corner. And also, she needed to clear her head.
In a room, lighted with dim bulbs, a group of people sat there round a table. The head was a woman who looked to be in her late forties and two other people. A man and a young girl.
"How's it going?", the elderly woman asked.
The young girl looked at her. "It's going well. A game is coming up. I already put spies there", the young girl said.
"There are just seven players and besides, you're a new student. What can you do?"
"As long as there's money, there's nothing that cannot be achieved", the young girl said with confidence. The elderly woman smiled and nodded. "I'm glad that you're quite smart. With this, our school could reach a new height".
"But", the woman continued, "what's up your sleeve, Miss Hart?"
Kaitlyn smiled deviously. "Don't worry. The result is all you need. It has just started".
