Rei surprisingly found a good number of ingredients that he could use to make something decent. He got some salt, cinnamon, sugar, oats and some other things to make a simple ten-minutes cooked porridge.
While waiting for the porridge to cook, he snooped around—this is a bad habit of nosiness that he got over years of staying with an overly nosy family—and saw that the room was really exactly the same as described in the novel.
He opened the drawer beside the bed and saw some papers that were neatly placed on each other, he read the big bold letters on the first paper under his breath, "Baynette's Family Hierarchy, Rules And Regulations Alongside Code Of Conduct Of The House" he frowned.
"Ding!" the cooker sounded so he closed the drawer and went to turn it off. He had noticed that the pot really was digital and could be set to a timer. 'Tsk, perks of owning a global multi-billion dollar technology company. I don't think this is even in the market yet' he thought as he transferred the porridge from the cooker to a flat, beautifully and expensively designed, ceramic plate.
He opened the door of the room with the plate in hand and said in a low voice, "The food's ready" only to stop dead in his tracks and stare with wide eyes at Kyle's secretary, who stared right back in shock—the only difference was that she had her eyes going back and forth between Rei's eyes and the plate in his hand.
'Oh no, I totally look like a hidden lover who just secretly prepared food for her counterpart in his secret room!' —truly he was a book maniac so he knew the line of thoughts that 'side characters' usually have.
"Go back in" Kyle calmly instructed meanwhile the secretary and Rei were gobsmacked. 'Oh My God! What's with that ordering tone?!! I'm not someone who mindlessly follows your orders, don't make me look like that! I work here, please!!" Rei thought looking at Kyle as though he expected Kyle to magically read his mind and know that he should rephrase his words to save his face.
Rei stood still for a brief moment before submitting and entering the room in shame. The secretary was still holding unto the file that Kyle has given her, in shock that she did not show on her face, 'Company gossip? Again? After such a short time?!'
Kyle sent her away to which she complied before opening the door of the room and seeing Rei laying on his stomach with his legs touching the floor and the plate he was carrying earlier on the island. He sat down on one of the chairs at the island and quietly took a spoonful of the porridge into his mouth. "It's actually...very good" he whispered.
"Thanks" Rei said, Kyle looked back at him and saw him now sitting upright on the bed; he didn't think he would hear him. "Umm, don't you think she'll get the wrong impression... like, you could have said something like 'Oh, miss blah blah, I'm sure you haven't met him yet but this is my assistant' or something, as long as it doesn't seem like I'm your secret person!" he then resorted to waving his arms and hitting the bed at the end of his sentence out of frustration.
"Why would she think like that?" Kyle asked, not seeing need to clear anything up and Rei groaned, "I'm sure you don't know this but a lot of secretary and office workers read romance novels to make up for their inexistent love life's, and sometimes just for fun! You have no idea what kind of gossip will rise when a stranger comes out of your boss's secret room saying, 'The food's ready~' !"
At this point, he was just rambling. Kyle just calmly swallowed the food in his mouth before nonchalantly replying, "Why should I care about unnecessary and not-worth-my-energy gossip?"
Rei gaped at him, "Don't you rich people usually care about your public image?" Kyle gave him a look and said calmly, "This is inside gossip, as long as no one frolics about it, it not worth paying mind to... unless some idiot publishes it, that is"
" Wow" Rei remarked then, pulled the corner of his lip downwards in a downturned smile as he nodded his head, "Go on and finish the food, since you said it's not worth paying attention to, I won't do that"
"Do you think, you're on break or what?"
"Eh...?"
"Go and take the blue folder on the top of my file on my desk. Arrange the papers inside chronologically and send it to the production department on the thirteenth floor" Kyle ordered at once and the Rei looked at him with a deadpan expression
He begrudgingly got off the bed and grumbled, "What a workaholic employer"
