Several days had gone by. Bor had already acclimatized to his situation. Matter of fact, this was not that bad. Training was tough and intense, but not much of a bother to Bor.
For starters, due to the existence of solarbeds and their magical healing capabilities, everyone's body was set at their optimal conditions, which means, everyone was hella fit, and they didn't even have to work out.
However, a fit body was one thing, but coordination between the body and brain was another. There were people who'd be jacked in for years and decades, and when they logged off, they'd find it hard to move their bodies again. In some severe cases, people had to relearn how to do the most basic things.
While Bor and company's situation was nowhere near that dire, they needed to learn to move their bodies in perfect synchrony with the mind. They also needed to learn just how capable their bodies were, stretch the limits and break through.
Moreover, they needed to learn the limits of the physical world. The virtual world granted the users a lot of freedom and abilities such as teleportation, ability to fly, Heads up Display (HUD), all of which were not available in the real world.
For this, Nagri and his ad hoc training camp, as Bor regarded them, had come up with specialized devices. One such device was known as parkour. While it did not exactly simulate the extreme sport it was named after, it certainly came close.
Parkour was an elongated treadmill with elongated walls on either side and the top also. The user would run along the treadmill at predetermined speed. At random intervals, bollards, barriers and hurdles would pop up from either side of the walls, treadmill and roof. The user was supposed to evade and keep going to complete the level.
The speed of the treadmill and the appearance of the obstacles increased with each level increase. While understanding the basics was easy, Bor had quickly discovered that completing a level was another thing entirely. He had taken a few whacks to his face and body when racing.
That being said, Bor was the best performing in the 'class'. He was at level 15, while the first runners up was at level 10.
In addition to this, there was also the VRMMORPG game called Pugilist. Much like Morendat, this was also extremely immersive, but they only did one thing, fighting.
Pugilist allowed players to have duets, group battles and even tournaments online. There were even E-sports competition that were as popular as MMA or Boxing from back in the day. In fact, these two were just some of the categories that the game offered it's patrons.
The fighting was real, and with the special armor one was supposed to wear when fighting would guarantee that you get to feel everything. Every punch, strike and hit.
Bor had once wondered why anyone would want that, but now, he understood. Pugilist came with a special training feature. Bor had used it several times where he got to learn a few fighting skills such as jujitsu and basic Kung fu. He had a Red Belt in Street fighting and the Russian Sambo.
However, what stood out to Bor about the current training was that the trainers could input the moves they needed their trainees to learn, and in turn, allow the trainees to benefit directly from the trainers.
According to Walumbe, one of Nagri colleagues in this training camp, most of the skills and fighting techniques found in Pugilist by default were more showy than useful. Hence, in a real fight, they might be such a spectacle, but the person would still end up losing.
The fighting techniques they were being taught were in line with what the policing agency and the Titan Defense Force used to learn. Walumbe had been a senior instructor in Shields city once, before his fall from grace.
Shields city was just another borough, much like Blackpine, Tandroon town and Alcove. One thing that stood up about it was, this was where all the barracks were, both for the armed forces and the policing agency. This was also where the largest prison in Titan was found.
Almost every person in law enforcement and city defense came from or lived in Shields city. Naturally, there was little to no crime reported, and even then, the suspects were all trained killers. This was one side of town Bor did not wish to ever visit.
Bor had gotten quite good with the techniques, but on this, he was not the first. There was one guy, Keita, who was both tall and lean, who was untouchable. While he didn't look all that strong, his fists hit like a freight train, and Bor could hardly keep up with his speed while they were sparring.
It was said that Keita was one of those 'blessed' individuals. People born with certain attributes that the solarbeds and technology enhanced to make someone almost superhuman. Therefore, it was a testament to Bor's hard work that he had been able to defeat someone as talented as Keita in Parkour.
And so the days went by, the routine in place. The trainees would rise up and start body training exercises for several hours. These included sports, swimming, running, weight lifting, and several others. Once the body was ready, they would move on to technical tracks such as parkour.
Much later in the day, they would log in to Pugilist to receive their daily dose of beating. Only at the end of the day were they allowed to log into Polaris and other pleasure sites for relaxation and the much needed healing. Of course the following day they'd get to do it all over again.
That part about relaxation was what many, including Bor, looked forward to. Surprisingly, Bor had found out that they were allowed to log into Morendat, and even retain their old accounts. I guess we weren't forgetting our old life completely.
Bor was met with a nice surprise, the elf has showed up with supplies. This had pleasantly occupied his time, and he had already build seven of the ten items needed. As a good forger, Bor made sure to use slightly less than needed, for a rainy day.
An idea had formed in his mind, and he wanted to see if he could make it happen.
