Chapter 13 - Into the wilds

Cold, dark, foreboding. Bor had to complement the animation work here. Everything about the forest made the hair on your arms want to stand up straight. He could hear the distant roars and growls of creatures, not to mention the shrieking of others.

There was only one thing that lay ahead. Danger and death.

To excitable players, this immersive experience was what they dreamed of, though Bor felt it was a tad bit too realistic. He would never admit it to anyone, but he was sure glad that he was not walking in there alone.

As a solo player, sometimes he would raid dungeons or other areas all by himself. Those times were extremely scary, and he had to keep reminding himself that it was not real, he was in a simulator, and he would get out soon.

"Alright guys, lets go," Ayram said as she lead the way. Single Shot Dead, the ranger, went ahead of the group, leaving the rest behind.

"He had a unique class, Eagle Scout. He will scout the way for us, have us avoid the dangerous areas," Seeing the frown in SwordSmith99's (Bor's game account), Ice Fist explained to him.

Looking ahead, Bor noticed the man had disappeared. Bor had forgotten the joys of raiding in a party. There was someone to have your back, and another to run in front and scout for danger.

"Guys, there's a level 130 Dwarf here, follow my location." The Ranger called back. The mission was to go and find materials, and the hint was an obvious clue, telling them the requirement of the mission. They were supposed to kill monsters and pick up materials.

"Level 130? Isn't that a little too high leveled for us?" I am Fortress asked. He and the other tank would be the two to hold it down.

"I think that's just about right," Lonely Snow said. Only now did Bor realize she was female, underneath all that muscle of the Berserker. "It'll be a seven versus one fight, so lets go harass it."

None of the others had any objections, and seeing everyone look at her, Ayram nodded and said, "We will have to fight plenty of monsters if we are to get as much of the materials as possible."

"Alright," I am Fortress said, not wanting to look like a coward. Without much ado, the group turned around and went in search of the monster.

Remarks

One of the common units under Dwarf Lord Argur.

"Not so fierce," Firelord Izzu's Illegitimate Son said as he approached the being. Charging in, he activated the skill [Charge] and bashed the dwarf, stunning the thing.

[-3,000 HP]

[You have stunned the target for 2 seconds.]

He then followed up with a mysterious skill Bor did not know, but the animation looked marvelous. He leaped in the air with his sword, and a bright lighting started charging, which he instantly brought down on the stunned dwarf.

[-16,000 Hp]

With such a terrifying start, the others joined in. Bor shot an [Binding arrow]from where he was, tying the dwarf down for five seconds.

[-11,000 Hp]

Bor was satisfied with his attack. Binding Arrow skill was a must learn for many hunters and rangers, and since it was a common skill, it didn't have that much damage.

[-25,000 Hp]

Seeing such terrifying damage appear over the dwarf, Bor was shocked, only to see the aftermath of Lonely Snow's attack. Other than the two priests, she was the most low level person in the group. That she was able to unleash such an attack showed she had used a high level skill.

Not to be left behind, Bor shot another arrow at the bound beast, causing more damage.

In no time, they had whittled down the beast's HP to zero, killing the mob. As Lonely Snow had said, this was a low level beast and they were quite a number.

Checking the drops, the group found it was just the usual. A few materials, a few coins, supposedly the monster's wealth, and a weapon. Some cases there were two. Checking the materials, found two quest materials and three forging materials.

As per the deal Ayram had made with Bor, he would get first pick at all forging related materials and blueprints they found. Bor didn't know what Ayram had promised the others, but since this was their agreement, Bor shamelessly picked the forging materials.

"Let's go find another," He said, eyes glinting. There was a piece of blueprint he had that would be of great value to the group, should he craft the entire item.

"Now that's someone speaking my language," Lonely Snow said. She had gotten the Level 100 Bronze Machete, perfect for a Berserker like her.

After hunting and felling several of these dwarves, they found that they could no longer find any more, yet the 15 quest materials which was 30% of the total 50 required. This meant that they needed to go deeper, and fight bigger monsters.

The first they encountered was a few Level 150 Elite Dwarf Fighters, but the quickly finished off the solitary ones, leaving only those that walked in packs. The closest pack had three members, each being the level 150 Elites. While their drops were significantly better, they still needed a lot of fight.

"What do you think?" Ayram asked the group, who were encroaching on a group while being hidden behind a rock.

"I'll lead the charge, Fortress will defend against the other," Illegitimate son said to the group.

"The two tanks would be occupied, who would deal with the third monster?" Ice Fist asked. He was a priest, their work was to support and heal the fighters.

Lonely Snow was a Berserker, but while she could hold her own against a monster, she was far too low leveled.

"Don't worry guys, I got this." Bor said.
