Third person POV
Meanwhile, at his headquarters in the tenement housing in the city, the man, who was the boss of the traveling salesman and his assistant, gave someone a small bag of gold coins, telling him to assassinate someone else because that person was spying on him and his scam enterprise. That someone, who was an archer, then nodded in agreement, before taking the money and standing up to leave the room. Who will that person target?
Russell's POV
The next morning, after breakfast, me and my team from yesterday, went out to monitor the fraudsters' next activities in the city. This time, Azalea, Adrian, and Rai decided to come with us, so we accepted it. Ria and Kelly stayed behind in the old lady's house. And so, we trailed behind the fraudsters' sales of their product in the street and witnessed the assistant's acting either as a sick person, an injured person, or a disabled person so the cheap medicine would be more enticing for customers. John blended into the shadows to listen closely to them.
As the new batch of customers were in awe and began buying the fake stuff, we knew that they were scamming them with that strange concoction.
I took notes of their activity.
Then, the wagon left the area, prompting us to follow it to its next stop.
While we did so, the wagon entered an alleyway, probably to shorten their travel time. And then, an arrow was fired and landed in front of us, causing us to stop and to be taken aback by its sudden entry. "Wait, what?" I responded to this.
We then looked up, only to see a figure with a bow standing on one of the balconies and looking at us.
"Who's that guy?" Adrian asked.
"Did he fire that arrow at us?" Azalea added.
Then, the figure, who was masked and hooded, said to us with a deep, masculine tone, "You shall not pass."
And then, he loaded another arrow and pulled back the string, going to fire that at us again.
So, I immediately reacted by firing a Lightning Throw at him.
But that figure dodged that by jumping at another, higher balcony and firing his arrow at us.
This time, it was aiming for John.
"John!" I said, before rushing to take cover for him with my body.
The arrow hit me but bounced back, in the same way the archer from Elai's party did to me yesterday, not inflicting me any deep pain.
"Russell-kun!" Cassius responded to this.
The hooded figure was stunned to see that his arrow didn't hurt me.
"Are you okay, John?" I asked John.
"Yeah, I am, thanks, master," replied John.
As I get up with John in my arms, my group responded by attacking the figure.
Adrian used his Mind Manipulation to try to control the figure.
He did so, and the figure was paralyzed.
Rai and Azalea then used their ice magic to freeze him, preventing him from escaping.
As a result, that figure had his legs and arms froze, and he fell from the balcony and to the street below. Seeing that, we were alerted by it and went closer to him. The figure was struggling to get out of our icy trap.
"Alright then, who are you?" Cassius asked him seriously. "Why are you firing your arrows at us?"
"I was paid to attack you guys," the figure responded while still struggling, "that bowtie man paid me to do it."
"Wait, who's bowtie man?" I asked while narrowing my eyes in suspicion.
"The one who operated a scam enterprise in this city."
"Wait, you mean the one who sells that fake medicine for 5 gold coins each?" Rai asked.
The figure then nodded. "Yes, it was him. He's the boss of it. Please, let me go…"
But we won't.
"We'll take you to the authorities," Cassius said to him, "I am a spy working for the royal family."
The figure was taken aback by his statement. "What?"
"Yes, you heard me, right, I am a spy working for them."
Third person POV
Russell, Adrian, Rai, and Azalea gained some points in their current levels for stopping that archer assassin, and these 4 were delighted by it. Rai, before she and Ria met Russell and his party, had Level 23. And now, she was now at Level 24 thanks to her cooperation with her friends. Adrian was now at Level 13 since their time in Monroe Town.
And so, Russell and Cassius lifted the iced body of the obscured figure, and they and their group took him to the city's barracks, with Cassius' direction. The proof that the bowtie man and his henchmen had committed fraud for profit was now around the corner.
