For every word he spoke, he felt his wound throb, sending waves of pain to his brain. Luckily for him, the last guy obediently did as he was told to do. He glanced at his father who was staring at him in fear but Liam could tell that the man was also happy just by the look on his face.
He moved towards the last guy who was facing the wall and was about to give the guy a chop at the base of his neck but then decided against it as he remembered the fact that he was still unable to use his new found strength properly. A hit to the neck area would kill a person if the hit was hard enough so Liam chose to not take any risks.
'Should I take the risk...', he thought as he looked around the room as he did not know what to do. Letting the guy go would just mean more variable factors that could happen in the near future so he wanted him fainted but not dead.
Before Liam could ask his father for ropes or duct tape, the guy in front of him spoke.
"Sir, please don't hit me. I'm just a normal human so I'll die even if you smack me playfully.", he said, his voice shivering. Liam could not tell what was going through the man's head but then, he saw the guy point towards a certain direction.
Following his finger's direction, Liam saw a spray can on the floor. Not knowing what it was, he asked the man about it.
"That's chloroform sir. I'd rather spend my time in the prison instead of dying."
Liam turned to look at the can again and then looked at his father, "You, go bring that can over here."
His father nodded hurriedly and picked up the can before walking towards Liam but Liam stopped him midway as he did not trust the man in front of him even one bit.
"Toss it here and toss it to me properly. If it misses me, I'll smash your skull to pieces.", he said as he gave him a death stare, scattering all the imaginary plans that were going on in his father's head.
The half drunk man tossed the can to Liam with surprising accuracy, which Liam used to get the third guy down before he gave all of his attention to his father.
"So you drugged both your wife and your daughter?", he asked as he stared at the man in front of him, who stayed still for a moment before shaking his head.
"N- no. Only my daughter because these three idiots did not let me silence her my own way.", he said before he glanced at the spray can that was in Liam's hand, "They told my wife to drug my daughter but that fool inhaled the thing instead of spraying it on my daughter. In the end, those three did it on their own. I have no hand in getting my family like this. I am a very innocent man."
Liam stared at his father's attempt at making an innocent face, which to his credit, he was very good at. But Liam knew not to believe even a single word that came out of the man in front of him.
'Silence Isis your own way huh... basically he wanted beat her until she shut her mouth like he used to do to be before I left the house. I guess it's a good thing that she wasn't hurt.', he thought as he took out his phone and dialed up the emergency number for cops but as he was waiting for the call to be picked up, he felt his vision go blurry.
He shook his head and looked around the room, only to confirm the fact that he was unable to see clearly. He could also tell that he was feeling weaker than usual.
Acting fast, he sprayed the contents of the can at his father, who screamed loudly before taking a few steps backwards and falling on the floor. It took him a few seconds but he could not fight off the strong effects and went to sleep.
Liam on the other hand, tried his best to keep his consciousness up. He sat down on the floor, only to feel the knife lodged in his body move ever so slightly. Once on the floor, he picked up one of the beer bottles on the table poured it on his head, hoping that it would keep him awake.
That was when he heard a voice on the phone.
"Hello? Could you please speak, so that we can know what is going on? Hello?"
"Yes...", Liam said, his voice faint as his vision got more and more blurry.
The voice on the other side of the phone spoke, "Could you tell me what the situation is and why you called the emergency number please?"
"AAAAAARGH!!!", the phone operator heard Liam's scream, which made her question if the phone call was a prank or if it actually was a serious one. Keeping her apprehension aside, she decided to act professional and waited for Liam to speak.
"Need help. Illegal betting. Child almost sold off. Human trafficking. I'm heavily injured and the others are fainted. Come fast...", she heard him speak and a second later, she heard a grunt before the sound of something being sprayed entered her ears a while later.
The call was still ongoing so she hurriedly sent out the location of the caller, who was Liam and then also gave her colleagues a brief explanation of what she knew, which fortunately was everything that Liam had told her since he was on point.
She wasn't too worried that it was a prank call or not at this point as she knew that if it was, then the caller would receive severe punishment.
'I hope everything is okay. To think that there was a human trafficking case in this city.... just what kind of place did I get transferred to...', she thought as she sat on her chair, hoping to not get another call.
