Liam stood in front of a closed gate and adjusted the tie he was wearing. He had bought a suit after he found a good job that gave out a decent payment while also not having many requirements like degrees and specific skills.
Calming his nerves, he walked inside and knocked on the door but to his surprise, he heard a sound from behind him. He hurriedly turned around and saw a middle aged man watching him silently.
"Who are you and why are you here?", the man asked and Liam took a second to compose himself.
"I'm here for a job. I saw a post and that post had this address on it."
The man stared at him for a few seconds before nodding, "Ah yeah, I remember posting that stuff back when I was still in college. Though, I knew nothing about the average industry salary amounts so no one actually came to me for a job. Haaaah, it's bringing back memories... let's go inside and talk."
He walked past Liam and opened the door before walking inside. Liam silently followed him and sat on the sofa opposite to man who was smiling at him. The room looked a little rustic as it had unpainted brick walls and there was even a functioning fireplace that still had wood burning.
"I'll bring my fallen dream back up if you are really interested in this job. Of course, whatever was promised in the site will not be same. Instead of a salary, we will be splitting the profits evenly and you will not be working under be but instead, we'll be partners.", he said excitedly.
Liam on the other hand, decided to ask for the answer of a question that had been bothering him for a while.
"Sir, could you tell me what the job is about?"
"Ah yes.", the guy said, "I'll be establishing a mercenary group and while I don't have great connections like the other veteran mercenary groups, I'm really good at gathering intel. So, I'll get us jobs while you'll be going on field and doing the job that's supposed to be done. You must have consumed high grade potion right? Since that's the only requirement."
Liam nodded, "Not really. I've consumed a top grade potion. Also, what kind of jobs must I do and how much money can I expect from this job? If it's less, I'll have to look for a different job."
".....", the man stayed silent for a few seconds before letting out a sigh, "Seriously, you don't seem to be lying... I don't really understand why you even came to me when you could make so much money on your own. Top grade is just... I guess there is a way. Give me some time to think about it."
As the guy in front of him closed his eyes, Liam sat silently while he shifted his attention to the fireplace. He watched the dancing flames which had his attention completely locked towards itself until the guy spoke.
"Alright, I have some good contacts that'll do well even with top grade humans but you should be ready to take on jobs that are mostly at high grade level. If you're fine with that, we can start the partnership.", he said as he looked at Liam who nodded without any hesitation but then, he remembered that he did not get the answer to his main question.
"Um wait, you didn't tell me about the amount of rudo that I can expect from this job."
"Hmm...", the man said before nodding, "High grade tasks and missions should give you around fifty to two hundred rudo per mission based on the difficulty but it can go higher. As for top grade... based on the sub grades, it can go from half a million to fifty million per mission. Of course, there are cases where you will be offered more but those are rare.
Anyways, we will be splitting 50/50 since I'll be bringing you the jobs. Also, if the team grows, I'll pay the others with my own share."
Liam had no problem with the conditions since he did not want to go through the hassle of making connections. Just taking up missions and getting paid for them was a straightforward thing and that was what he wanted.
"Nice! You can call me Robert by the way. If you find good members, try to scout them to the team. As for missions and other tasks that pay money, I'll get to work in a few minutes so you'll most probably hear from me tomorrow so be prepared. Take this card and call the number that's on there. I'll save your number that way."
"Okay.", Liam nodded and the two of them talked a bit more before Liam happily walked out of the place as he had gotten what he wanted without much effort.
As he walked back to the internet cafe, he found himself lost in thought, 'Even if I make 20,000 rudo everyday, I'll get 10,000 as my share. Which is more than enough for me to live a good life. I'll make big money with my avatars and save up the money for my main body, hehehehe.'
Lost in his day dreams about his future, he finally reached his room and sat down on the chair in front of the computer before he connected his phone to the PC so he could view the files on a bigger screen.
'Time to study!', he thought as he scrolled through various files, 'I finished learning and memorizing the new subject's books so all that's left right now are the subjects that I have to revise.'
For the next few hours until the night came up, he studied until he couldn't study anymore and walked out of his small room so he could get some food for himself.
"Hello again... I would like some dinner please.", he said with a tired look on his face, to which the receptionist simply sighed and gave him a large cup of instant ramen.
She then placed three boiled eggs in a bowl and placed it beside the cup of ramen, "Here you go. you didn't eat breakfast and lunch so consider the eggs as a gift from me. You'll have to pay for them next time."
"Thank you...", he said as he gave her a smile before he took the cup of ramen and eggs back to his room.
