Chapter 35 - Shinjuku Slaughter.(1)

[December 19th, 2018. In Makyo Shinjuku.]

Tokyo had become a breeding ground for cursed spirits after Kenjaku's stunt. The prefecture was nothing more than a black hole, devoid of electricity and life.

Even then, in this place, old and new sorcerers fought savagely against each other, throwing away their lives without care.

A certain curse user had started something called The Culling Games at the end of the Shibuya Incident, pitting sorcerers against each other for points.

The true purpose for the Culling Games? No one but the ones at the middle of it knew the answer.

Kenjaku.

Ryomen Sukuna.

Uraume.

These were the main players in this arena.

These three controlled almost everything going on in the games.

Everyone else had to struggle to survive.

Strangely enough though, much to everyone's disappointment, the new 'strongest sorcerer of today', Jin Itadori, was nowhere to be seen.

It seemed as if the man wasn't participating in one of the biggest sorcerer wars in recent history, which was out of character for a man such as himself.

Sorcerers both old and new were excited to meet the man in the flesh.

But who knew where he was or what he was up to?

The man seemed to have disappeared into thin air after Shibuya.

Unfortunately for them though, this wasn't the case. He had just hidden himself carefully...quietly until the right moment to emerge.

By this time, only the strongest fighters remained in the Games. The weaklings had eliminated themselves or had been eliminated by others.

Sukuna had regained 19 of his fingers after taking over Megumi Fushiguro's body.

Kenjaku had captured Tengen and killed Yuki Tsukumo, a special grade monster, solidifying himself as one of the strongest sorcerers of all time.

Both of them were at highest tier of power in the world. No one could confidently defend against their onslaught.

That's what Jin saw as he sat in the back of a supermarket in, eating chips as he looked at a screen on the wall.

Mei Mei's surveillance technique allowed him to see everything that was happening around the Culling Games.

Of course, the woman was right there with him, along with Nagi and Utahime.

They all watched Kenjaku and Sukuna killing sorcerers wantonly without any true opposition. If this went on any longer, no one would survive.

Putting down the chips on the table, Jin turned to Utahime and said,"You and Nagi need to go secure Sukuna's final finger from the sorcerers. Not a sliver of his soul will be left behind when I take it."

Utahime, wearing black buddhist robes, bowed her head slightly as she replied, "Consider it done, Master Jin."

Exhaling smoke out of her mouth, Nagi followed suit, bowing at Jin's order.

But as usual, she still had her own worries about his safety since she wasn't going to be with him for the most part this time.

"Master Jin...you know the moment you step out on the field, every one will be aiming their blades at you. Will...you be alright?"

Jin laid a hand on her shoulder, saying with a small smile, "You know I don't lose, Nagi. By the time you come back with Sukuna's finger, everything will be over. On second thought, Mei, join them. The finger will be even easier to find with you going along."

Laying her hand on his thigh, Mei Mei stood up, grabbed her axe and said, "It is done, Master Jin. Nagi, Utahime, let's go. Oh...and I expect a reward when I get back, Master Jin.~"

Jin chuckled as he heard this.

'Heh. How interesting. It seems only Mei and Nagi retain some type of personality. Utahime is lacking for some reason. Or maybe her being quiet is her personality. Maybe I just need more time around them to figure it out.'

BOOM!

Now that the girls had left, Jin cracked his neck, stood up and jumped through ceiling, landing on the roof.

Feeling the sun landing on his face, Jin smiled as turned his attention to the east, his Six Eyes locking onto Kenjaku in the distance.

'Kenjaku is several kilometers away and I could see him as if he was standing right in front of me. Once again, obtaining the Six Eyes was the best move I've made in this world. Now...'

Jin sauntered over to a pebble on the ground, imbued it with cursed energy and threw it into the air.

"Let's see how good this cursed technique is."

*clap*

Kenjaku suddenly appeared in place of the rock as he fell onto the ceiling, slightly confused as to how he got here.

When he caught sight of the man wearing a certain signature set of clothing standing in front of him, everything started making sense.

"Of course it's you, Jin. I was wondering when you were going to show yourself, old friend."

The man stood up, dusted off his robes and fixed his hair, seemingly unbothered by Jin's presence.

"I've missed you, Kenjaku. Seeing you here again, safe and sound, calms my aching heart down. I promise that as long as I live, we will never leave each other's side again."

Laughing loudly, Kenjaku replied, "So...you've finally turned your attention to me huh? I'm honored, Jin..."

WHOOSH!

Several special grade cursed spirits appeared behind him out of dark portals, immediately rushing at Jin with incredible ferocity.

"...but, I've been expecting this. You are the one who has walked into a trap."

Kenjaku was confident in his chances of victory due to his extensive planning. Every avenue of Jin's defense was explored by him. There was no action that Jin could take that he was not prepared for.

"You know, Kenjaku..."

Jin plucked a hair out of his head and turned it into a sheathed katana.

Gripping it by his waist, Jin got into a slightly crouched stance, his right hand wrapped around the hilt.

"...there's a reason I put down my sword for a while."

BOOM!

As the cursed spirits approached, Jin drew his sword and slashed with such speed that the sound barrier broke the moment it left its sheathed.

Kenjaku and every one of his cursed spirits were blown away by the explosion, with the spirits being exorcised immediately on contact.

"With a sword..."

Jin appeared over a flash behind Kenjaku as he was still being blown away.

"...I am invincible."

BOOM! BOOM!

Combining this slash with the Ratio Technique, Jin broke the sound barrier twice this time, on drawing and resheathing the sword.

"URGHH!"

The slash split Kenjaku into four pieces as he was forced into the ground by the explosion, buried within a deep crater.

Kenjaku hurriedly used his RCT to heal himself as he knew his life was in danger. Jin was too fast for him to deploy any techniques of worth before his sword arrived.

'The gap between us...I didn't think it was this wide! Just because he's using a sword?!'

Unfortunately for him, Jin didn't let up in his onslaught.

The sorcerer appeared in a flash, immediately dispatching the cursed spirits Kenjaku tried to summon with a stomp that slightly launched the dismembered curse user upwards.

The moment Kenjaku's back left the ground, Jin drew his sword and positioned it over Kenjaku's neck in one motion.

"This is for my father."

SHWWINGG!

The sound of the blade seemingly crying as Kenjaku's head was separated from his body permeated the atmosphere.

FWIP!

After whipping Kenjaku's blood off of the sword, Jin sheathed it and turned into a strand of hair once again.

"...I should've done this to you the moment I met you."

Jin picked up Kenjaku's head, rejoined it with the body and opened the stitched compartment of the head, revealing a still seemingly alive brain with a mouth.

The brain struggled even more as Jin stuck his fingers into it, ignoring the gushing blood pouring onto his fingers.

"The real you is just a pathetic little thing. Unworthy of any respect. But be at ease...I will use your abilities to their full potential in your stead. As recognition for being the first one to shake my resolve in a millenia because of that little stunt you pulled, I will take everything from you. Your name, your power, your soul, your existence. I am you..."

A purple aura poured into the body as Jin forced his soul into it, devouring and merging with every fiber of its being.

This time, Jin was truly performing the transfer essence ability. After this, there would no more permanent body changes.

This would be the body he would face every upcoming challenge with, regardless of what world he was in.

Kenjaku's soul and every being linked to him was being consumed in that moment.

What this meant is that the souls of every body Kenjaku took control of was being forcefully pulled from the afterlife at this very moment as part of Kenjaku's existence.

Jin's words weren't just for fluff. Noritoshi Kamo, Kaori Itadori, Suguru Geto and others were being consumed by just association with Kenjaku.

"...and you are me."

Moments later, Mechamaru's lifeless body collapsed to the ground as Kenjaku's injuries quickly healed.

In no time, it had returned to full health.

"Urgh..."

Kenjaku got up, cracked his neck and let down his hair, breathing a sigh of relief as he looked at Mechamaru's body.

"Finally...I've acquired a body that can hold a soul of my level. To bolster it even more..."

Kenjaku laid his hand on Mechamaru's body and absorbed it, adding it's physical stats onto his own.

While without cursed energy, his physical abilities were just superhuman at best, when it was combined with his insane reinforcement and Kenjaku's limitless knowledge on Jujutsu, he was on a whole other level.

Shaking off his buddhist robes, Kenjaku slowly walked out of crater, sensing and locking on to Sukuna's energy in the distance.

"Well, it's finally time for the main course."
