Chapter 4 - The real Nightmare

"M-mother, what is that?" Xian said with a fear in her tone as she glanced at the headless four arms creature slowly walking outside the destroyed wall of the brown bricked house.

"Imperfect Demons," Xen said as she tightly gripped the handle of the silver sword in her hand. "Can you fight with your condition?"

"I felt weakened..." Xian answered with a slow voice, by now, the demon that was leaving the destroyed walls are now standing still there, the damage of making contact of the brick walls are shown at the demon's forearm.

Then, it dashed again to the two, Xen however, already posed a stance to defend and possibly counter the demon, with her sword in two hands and horizontally placed infront of her, she faced the demon.

Just when demon with it's two arms on front and two hands opened wide was about to make contact with Xen, the latter bent her body downward and sidestep to the left, she swings her sword upwards to the demon's exposed abdomen.

Slash!

Xen felt that her sword was successfully sliced a flesh as she dashed away from the demon and glanced at it. The demon however didn't have a slice in it's abdomen but 'his' left lower arm was cleanly cutted.

The demon stood like a statue there again with bluish blood flowing from it's cutted arm.

By that time when the demon clashed with Xen, Xian on the other side dashed away opposite of her mother's position clearly open from the attack of the demon.

"Xian be careful!" Shouted by her Xen worrying about the safety of her daughter. "It will dash again!"

'Yes, it will dash again after standing like a statue, that's probably why it was called imperfect, they're dumb!' Xian thought as she nodded at her mother.

'She thought the same?' Questioned Xen in her mind as she walked slowly in circle avoiding the area where the Demon can surprise attack her.

However, the headless demon was already finished standing there as 'he' turned 'his' headless neck towards Xen that was now infront of 'him'.

Xen saw the headless demon turned it's headless neck towards her and was ready to counter attack again in the same stance as earlier.

With her sword turned horizontality, the demon dashed again to her with two hands on guard and the only lower right arm that was opened wide on the side.

'It was too predicable!' Xen said in her mind as she cutted the lower right arm of the demon and failed again to slash the abdomen of the creature.

'There was something in his abdomen!' she thought as she dashed away again and glanced at her daughter.

Xian on the other hand waited for the demon to stood like a statue again and when it was the time, she dashed towards the standing demon and with her hands on the handle of the silver blade which is placed in the air, she slashed the demon vertically to it's higher right arm.

The demon didn't flinched as the two of 'his' arms was now cutted and bluish blood was flowing there to the ground. What it did is glanced at Xian who was about to recover a stance and was about to dash away, the demon raised it's remaining arm in the air and with the absent speed of the transendance, Xian didn't manage to dodge as the fist collided with her sword infront of her.

Thud!

Xian body was thrown in the air and crashed at a tree distance away. She was left there unconscious because of the heavy attack that even her sword which now on the ground besides her can't block.

"Xian!" Shouted by Xen as she dashed to the side of her daughter but when she's about to reach her daughter, Xen saw a silhouette of another being in the corner of her eyes at the distance.

Without carefully thinking, Xen changed her direction as she dashed towards the silhouette at the distance with a frown in her face.

'f*ckers, what did you do to my daughter!' Anger engulfed her mind as she continued to dash to the silhouette.

"Sh*t," Cursed by the silhouette as 'he' was about to run away from Xen. "Buy me some time you dumb demon!"

By then, Xen retain her mind from the anger that was engulfing her as she glanced with fear at the headless demon that was ready to dash not to her, but to her daughter.

"No!" Xen hurriedly stopped as she dashed back to her daughter to protect her, a feeling of somewhat unfamiliar arouse from Xen's body as she think of only one thing.

Save her daughter!

Xian opened her eyes and saw two figures moving in full speed, the one is infront of her and the one is in the side. The former was about to reach her but the latter was more faster as sparkles of blue light trailed behind the dashing figure.

With Xen completing the 2nd path of transendance and finding a reason, and that reason was to protect her daughter now, she was able to obtain a little amount of transcending power even something was weakening her, she appeared infront of Xian.

However, the demon was already infront of her and she doesn't have any choice but to sacrifice her body to embrace the attack just to protect her daughter.

Splash!

Crimson blood splashed at Xian's face as she fearfully faced the back of her mother that was pierced by a gray fist.

"Aahh!" Xian screamed as her chest was pierced with the fist of the gray demon infront of her, however, she didn't waste a time as she raised her silver sword in the air.

With a two hands holding the handle of the silver sword, she stab it downward to the hole of this creature's neck.

The demon screamed in pain but was later slowly fell to the ground. Xen on the other retracted the fist that makes a hole in her chest away as she slumped in the ground facing the beautiful night sky.

"Beautiful." She said weakly as she glanced at her daughter trembling in fear at the corner of the tree.

"Come here Xian." She asked.

Xian, on the other hand slowly approach her mother that was bloody messy on the ground infront of her with her face full of fear as tears flowed from her eyes to the ground.

"Mother!" Xian shouted remembering the nightmare she had at that afternoon, she remembered the corpse of her mother being hugged by herself, and she remembered the darkness that engulfed her in that very nightmare.

Xen forced a smile at her daughter, she raised her hand and touch the child's hair as she patted her. She said weakly. "You're 15 now, you should be in school you know, knowledge is power after all."

Then she coughed a mouthful of crimson blood to the ground as she weakly closed her eyes, with hands patting her daughter's head and tears flowing from her sharp eyes, she said in last breath:

"Im... Sorry... Xian..."

Xian didn't believed what she was seing as she shouted while shaking the corpse of her mother. "Mother! Wakeup!"

"Mother!"

Amidst the cries, she heard a voice that was hard to explain where it belonged and where it came from, she touched her head in pain as murmurings in her mind engulfed her.

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

Then it became louder.

"KILL! KILL! KILL!"

Then different words came next.

"BLOOD! DEMONS! BLOOD! DEMONS!"

Then her mind went blank and a last murmurings was heard so loud that Xian didn't even know what to do as she stared at her mother's corpse.

"REVENGE!"

Then, something unfamiliar aroused from the depths of her mind, body, and consciousness. It was unfamiliar that it was hard to explain, the feeling of something that was hard to grasp, something that was like non-existent.

But, to this lonely girl, the unfamiliar feeling was like a new found power.

It was an unfamiliar power used for only one thing, to slowly and surely get that one thing, it was to get...

Revenge!

...

Thud!

"What?!" Shouted by a man angrily.

"The expedition team was found dead in that forest?" That man was in her 60s with wrinkles showing in his face, she wore a red and yellow pair of clothes with black vest and trousers that looks expensive, he have a look of a person who was rich.

"Yes sir," Answered by a man in silver clad armor with fur like cloth cascading on his shoulder and waist, a four point star was engraved in her steel chest.

With a black short hair and shaved beard, he continued. "They we're found dead and their corpse was scattered everywhere, they were either have their head severed or was pierced by a something big."

The man in silver armor stopped and said in a fear. "The... Commander was different, he was... Eaten like an apple."

...

"You only have one job to do!" Shouted by a handsome man with pointy ears and blonde hair, he wore a green and brown pairs of shirt and pants with a furry cloak that reaches in his heels that was colored in deep green.

"That Artifact was precious to both demons and us!" She shouted again to the man infront of him who wore a robe that completely seal his identity.

"B-but, that woman was dashing forward to me!" Complained by the robed man. "And im very sure that she was already been killed by that imperfect!"

"So you're saying that your life is more important than that precious Artifact?!" Rebut by the handsome man as he went to get something from his robe, he brought a green lantern as he raised it in the air.

"N-no!" The robed man said as she hurriedly stepped back but was stumbled into the ground. Then suddenly, the ground beneath him shook as green spikey vines sprouted there and pierced the robed man's body.

"Tsk, what to do now." The handsome man said as he turned around to face the the rising sun in the distance. After sometime, he walked away from the green field where the scene happened towards the distance place where buildings of different sizes and structures stood.

A smile appeared from his face as she said. "I'll sacrifice more humans and dwarves then!"

...

Xian woked up from her slumber, this time she didn't dream of anything. She found herself hugging a cold corpse of her mother which was slumped in the ground with hold on her chest.

Xian wanted to cry but tears was already dried up from her eyes.

She look at her mother's corpse and soon saw specks of deep blue appearing from the body of her mother.

"Yeah, I remember, you taught me that we, who was born with this body is someday will become specks of light and will vanish from the world." Xian said as she watched the specks of light gathered in the air.

To her surprise, the specks of deep blue light was not fading away, it was coming to the side towards the left hand of Xian, slowly and slowly, the specks of light formed a bracelet in Xian's wrist.

It was adorned with small deep blue gem, and silver as the body of it.

"A farewell gift?" Xian said as she forced a smile, she glanced and look at the corpse of her mother for one last time.

She touched her mother's cheeks with lifeless sad eyes and said:

"No need to be sorry mother."

"And thank you for everything."
