Ruin's gaze lingered on Homura, his eyes etching every line of strain that marked her face. "Are you sure youre okay ?" he asked with a hint of concern.
"I'm more than just okay," she boasted, her chest puffing out with pride. " I could take on a hundred more hordes without breaking a sweat."
But Ruin's wasn't fooled. The subtle tremble of her hands, the shallow breaths, the beads of sweat glistening on her brow. He opened his mouth to press on further, only to be cut off by the sudden appearance of rapidly changing digits in the air.
Fear gripped Ruin's heart, the icy tendrils squeezing tight. "Another timer!" Ruin shouted trying to warn homura who had already gotten into a fighting stance as he hid behind her. But as the first minute ticked away into nothingness, and no new horde appeared, their tension dissolved, and they stepped away from their defensive stances.
With a sigh that seemed to carry the weight of all their problems, Ruin collapsed onto the ground, the earth cool against his heated skin.
"So, we just wait for the timer to hit zero?" Homura mused aloud as she slumped beside Ruin.
Ruin, however, remained unconvinced. "It can't be that simple," he muttered, his eyes scanning their surroundings. "This accursed Tower wouldn't let us of the hook that easily."
"Come on, don't you ever get tired of being such a downer,"Homura said with a groan."I know what will cheer you up,"Homura suddenly put on an innocent looking face with flushed cheeks,"if..if you want you can receive your prize for surviving now,"she said while turning away and loosening her bikini. "Stop!!"Ruin shouted while flustered . Homura then burst out in laughter, "Oh, you actually thought I was serious." Homura said as she continued her fit of laughter. "Just shut up, I have more important things to think about such as how to get us out of here," Ruin replied with an angry tone as he continued surveying the dungeon. "Aghhh,you dont have to be such a baby about....."Homura was suddenly cut short as she was suddenly yanked bank by Ruin who had a panicked expression.
Hey what the hell , why did..."before homura could finish airing out her questions, the ground where they had just been standing crumbled away, leaving nothing but a gaping maw.
"That could have ended badly," Homura remarked, her voice a mix of awe and disbelief as she peered into the abyss.
"How did you know?" she asked, her curiosity piqued as she turned to Ruin.
"It was nothing more than just a hunch,I just guessed that we had to get into the second inner circle before that damn timer run out," Ruin replied, his voice steady despite the adrenaline that still coursed through his veins.
Before Homura could delve deeper into questioning Ruin, a piercing scream tore from Ruin's throat, his eyes wide with fear.
"What is it now you chicken?"Homura asked Ruin clearly unbothered."That..that damn statue looked at me again!" Ruin said shakily as he pointed at it."
