Homura rolled her eyes, about to dismis his claims, when the statue's eyes glowed ominously, and a deep rumble filled the air. The dungeon burst into a sinister red as the wall torches blazed with a crimson fire, and the second circle on the floor mirrored the eerie glow."First orange now red, why dont they just put up the whole fucking rainbow then!" Homura shouted out in frustration.
The statues, once thought to be mere stone, began to shift, their limbs cracking and groaning as they took on flesh and blood. Homura's gaze met Ruin's, and with a solemn expression, she handed him a pendant. "If you somehow manage to get out of this hell hole, go to Avrion Academy and show this to the headmaster," she instructed, her voice steady.
"Why are you doing this?" Ruin's voice was a mix of confusion and fear.
"Lets say it's also just a hunch," she replied mockingly returning to her normal demeanor.
"That doesn't make any sense!" Ruin protested out in anger.
"Don't worry, I don't plan on dying any time soon and not especially to this weaklings, just take it as insurance." Homura said, her focus returning to the awakening beasts. "All you have to do now is stay back and watch me take down these oversized decorations." She reached for her bag, which Ruin threw to her with shaky hands. From it, she drew two daggers that pulsed with astonishing energy.
Ruin gaped at the weapons. In their world, weapons were forged from the cores and materials of bloodline beasts, imbuing them with unique attributes. The quality of a weapon was determined by the beast's nature and the blacksmith's skill. Ruin had guessed Homura's blades were of demigod tier or possibly higher, but that wasn't what shocked him the most. Earlier when a goblin had attacked him, he'd tried using those blades, but he opted not to as they felt no different from normal cooking knives.
"What's with your weapons?" he asked, in shock. "They weren't like that when I tried using them earlier ."
Homura chuckled, "Oh, you mean these little ol things, they're nothing just ignition weapons," she said casually.
Ruin almost vomited blood when he heard her response. Ignition weapons were extremely rare, crafted to awaken only for their rightful owner,so they couldn't be traded or given to anyone else which turned out to be a bother when you had no more use for the item but when activated it came with a massive increase in its abilities, for example an ignition legendary weapon could rival some demigod tier weapons. They were exceedingly rare, believed to be lost to time as the artisans capable of their creation had vanished from the world. "Well that's how they're supposed to be," he said internally but here was Homura treating them like ordinary daggers.
With a flick of her wrist, Homura's fire abilities ignited, propelling her towards the now-living statues. Ruin watched, stunned into silence, as she charged at the beasts with the familiar demonic grin etched onto her face.
