After clearing the dungeon, Indra is ready to see the usual perplexed faces of the officials who guard the Gate. However, he finds that they seem busy with something else and can't even bother to check why the Gate suddenly disappears.
'What's going on?'
He tries to eavesdrop on their conversation and hears something disturbing. One of the Gates in this region broke and monsters are pouring out of it. That Gate is on the other end of the region, so it's far from his house, that's why Indra didn't go there to even check its rank.
"What about the monsters? What do they look like?"
"Shit! We never saw them before. Alright, we'll contact and send all available hunters in our district. The Gate here has mysteriously closed just now, so the hunters tasked to attack it are free."
They close the call and quickly contact all the hunters in this district. Indra looks at the time and he should've gone home soon. But he surely can't just go home before making sure all those monsters that come out of the Gate die.
The problem is, he doesn't know how to get there because it's far, around 30 km from his current location. He surely has the strength to just run there, but it will take time and he is also tired now. If he runs, he won't have enough energy to fight.
Just then, he hears police & ambulance sirene which gives him an idea. Indra quickly runs to chase the police cars and ambulances. He knows those policemen & medics are sent to help with the evacuation and treat the injured.
Indra catches up quickly and he jumps to the side of an ambulance. He climbs to its top and lays flat there to avoid being seen. He is holding the sides of the car top as it speeds up to the location. Now he can rest for a while to reduce his fatigue so he can fight better.
The convoy arrives at the location in almost half an hour. They could be faster if not for the traffic caused by the evacuation process. The citizens are panicking and don't follow the officers' instructions properly, causing a lot of chaos everywhere.
Luckily, the military and hunters can somehow hold the defense line. Many hunters of different ranks have come to fight the monsters. Military weapons are not effective against the monsters, but they can help the hunters distract the monsters.
However, there are many of those monsters and they have high defense. Their scales are so tough that most of the hunters' attacks can't break through them. Indra senses 3 B-Rank hunters, but even they can't break through the Lizardmen's scales.
'No wonder the attack team failed. These guys are very tough.'
Indra looks around to find the boss, but it seems the boss hasn't come out of the Gate yet.
'Well, let's take care of the small fries first. Time to show the power of support.'
He doesn't plan to fight directly to avoid showing himself. Besides, he doesn't really need to fight directly. These hunters are enough to deal with the monsters after he does his part.
"Curse of Blindness! Curse of Weakness! Curse of Slowness!"
He casts debuff spells that have been maxed except for Curse of Blindness on the monsters. Curse of Blindness takes their eyesight for 2 minutes, Curse of Weakness reduces their strength by half, and Curse of Slowness takes their speed by half too.
"Blessing of Strength! Blessing of Speed! Blessing of Courage!"
Then he casts buff spells that have been maxed except for Blessing of Courage on the Hunters. Blessing of Strength doubles their strength, Blessing of Speed doubles their agility, and Blessing of Courage increases their defense by 20%.
Just giving the monsters some debuff spells and the Hunters some buff spells is enough to turn the tide of the battles. The monsters have gotten weaker while the hunters have gotten stronger, after all.
Indra runs around to cast buff & debuff spells while using Stealth. The monsters and hunters have spread quite far from the Gate, after all. To be safe, he also wears a black ski mask that he bought after searching for a few days because it's quite hard to find a ski mask in a tropical country or maybe he just didn't know the place that sells it.
Anyway, Indra removes his stealth after a while because no one will notice him running around in this chaotic situation. They will think he is just another Hunter who runs around to do something now and his guess is right, no one puts any attention on him.
He's almost done casting buff & debuff spells when he suddenly feels a very powerful magic power from the Gate's direction. The boss has finally come out and it's stronger than any monster he ever faced.
"Is that guy really a C-Rank dungeon boss? It easily surpasses the power of those B-Rank hunters I saw before. This C-Rank Gate seems to be on the verge of being a B-Rank Gate then."
Indra knows this won't be good, so he needs to finish quickly and go to the boss. He moves faster to cast buff & debuff spells on the remaining monsters and Hunters. Then he quickly rushes back to the Gate's location to help with the boss battle.
The monsters around the Gate have been taken care of by now. Indra already knew it because he got some XP when he ran around. He got a decent amount of XP even though he didn't fight directly and will level up soon.
But because he kept casting buff & debuff spells on the hunters & monsters, now his MP has become low. He just needs 2 or 3 monsters being killed to level up and it should happen soon. So he needs to use his remaining MP for the most important thing now and wait for the level-up to replenish his MP.
He finally arrives at the boss's location and is surprised by it. The boss is actually smaller than the other Lizardmen, but its magic power is much higher than theirs. Aside from the boss, there are 2 Lizardmen that are bigger than the normal ones.
The boss wears a black robe and holds a green scepter. Meanwhile, the big Lizardmen wear full body armor and each of them holds a pair of broad swords. They seem like knights protecting the Mage boss.
'A Mage Boss with 2 bodyguards? It's similar to the High-Orc dungeon that Jin Woo cleared in the story. But surely these guys aren't at the level of those High-Orcs. Still, they are stronger than these hunters.'
Indra quickly casts Heal on the Hunters that will face the boss. They have quite a lot of injuries, so his priority now is healing them with his remaining MP. He runs out of MP after healing them all, so now he can only wait for the level-up after the hunters kill some more monsters.
But before he can get that level up, the boss battle finally breaks. The Mage boss is preparing an unknown spell, so the Hunters can't wait and need to attack quickly. The frontline charges, but is stopped by the 2 Lizardman Knights.
Then from the back, the Archers & Mages send their attacks at the boss. However, the Lizardman Knights push the Hunters back before moving to block the arrows and spells flying to their boss. These 2 Lizardman Knights are much stronger than they thought.
They can push 2 B-Rankers, 4 C-Rankers, and 4 D-Rankers back easily. Furthermore, the attacks of 2 D-Rank Archers, 2 C-Rank & a B-Rank Mages seem to be useless against them too. They have great physical strength and high physical & magical defense.
'SHIT! The boss almost finishes casting its spell. What the fuck are those hunters doing? Come on! Quickly kill those normal Lizardmen and give me XP to level up. I've used all my mana to help you guys. Why can't you kill those things quickly? Damn, useless!'
Just as Indra thought, the boss finishes casting its spell. It shoots a big fireball to the sky which then explodes into many smaller fireballs. The fireballs are flying everywhere and create big explosions when they fall onto the ground.
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*
The explosions cause a lot of destruction and injure many people. Indra manages to dodge, but many of the hunters and soldiers get hit by the explosions. The Hunters have some resistance to magic attacks, so they don't die, but many of the soldiers are normal people and they die instantly.
Then at that moment, Indra finally gets the XP he has been waiting for and levels up. He's cursing the hunters who couldn't be faster, but he knows it's not really their fault because most of them are just D & E-Rankers who are too weak to kill the Lizardmen without his buffs.
"Sigh, they've done their best even if it's not good enough. So let's do our best too."
