Chapter 23 - 23. B-Rank Gate

B-Rank Gates are still hard to find and Indra doesn't find any in his region even after a week. He only finds lower-rank Gates, but he still raids them even though they don't give much XP. Still, a little XP is better than nothing and he can train his skills there.

After a few dungeon raids, he finally finds a B-Rank Gate. Furthermore, it's not even reported yet because it's located in a hidden place. He finds it under a bridge on his way to check a Gate he planned to attack today.

"Hehe, lucky."

Without a 2nd thought, Indra enters the Gate. After all, it's his long-awaited B-Rank Gate and no one knows how long this Gate has been here. If it's been here for too long and he doesn't clear it quickly, the monsters will come out of the Gate, so it's better if he takes care of it immediately anyway.

But Indra never thought that this Gate would be very different from all the Gates he ever raided. Aside from it being the highest-ranked dungeon he ever raided, its interior is also completely different. He's not even sure he can call it an interior because the dungeon is not a cave like other dungeons, but it's a forest.

It's a tropical forest to be exact with all kinds of plantations. There is even a blue sky with moving clouds above the forest. It would truly be a beautiful place if not for the fact that this is a dungeon filled with dangerous monsters.

But Indra is still very curious about something, so he climbs to the top of a tree. He looks around and nods in satisfaction. The thing that made him very curious was the edges of this dungeon. Surely this won't be an unlimited space, so he climbed the tree to check the 'walls' of this dungeon.

This forest dungeon is surrounded by white cloudy walls. It's as if the clouds in the sky are extending to the ground around the forest. That cloud wall must be the wall that limits the size of this dungeon, otherwise it would be too big.

"Hmm, it's cool and all, but it will be quite a hassle to explore this whole forest to find the monsters. At least cave-type dungeons have paths to follow even if some are like labyrinths. But an open field-type dungeon like this is annoying because the search area is too big. I'm lucky to have a my Mapping skill that has a wide detection range. Other people will need more time to find the monsters."

His Mapping skill can detect magic power sources up to 2 km from him now. So with him at the center, his Mapping skill's radar diameter is 4 km. But this forest seems to be much wider, probably more than 10 km wide from right to left, so he still needs to walk around a bit.

"Well, the good thing is these monsters seem to be scattered all over the forest. My Mapping skill already detects quite a lot of them."

Indra approaches the monsters while using Stealth because he doesn't know what kind of monster they are. He wants to check what they are first so he can plan how to fight them. This is his first B-Rank dungeon raid, after all, so he needs to be careful.

He finally arrives at the monsters' location, but strangely he doesn't see any of them. The Mapping skill shouldn't be wrong and he can also feel some faint presence nearby. All of them are in the trees around him.

'Invisible monsters? Interesting. I never met invisible monsters. Let's check if my Golden Eyes can see you.'

Indra activates his Golden Eyes as he scans the trees around him. His Golden Eyes are almost max level and have unlocked many functions. The function that he likes the most is they can see enemies' weak points.

They can also see mana that flows in humans' or monsters' bodies. So he is expecting he can see these invisible monsters through the mana in their bodies. His guess is correct. He can see their mana even though they are invisible.

'If my Mapping skill and even my sense can detect you, that means you still can't hide your mana, so my Golden Eyes should be able to see your mana as well. Now, let's see how good you guys actually are.'

Indra removes his stealth to bait the invisible monsters. As he thought, they immediately attack him when they see him. He steps to the left and something strong suddenly hits the ground where he stood before.

He keeps moving and the ground where he stands also keeps getting hit by something. Indra can avoid these attacks because they aren't invisible, just really fast that it's hard to see. But he can see them rather easily with his high sense and Golden Eyes.

After avoiding their attacks for a while, Indra finally decides to fight back. He steps aside as before, but then he catches the thing that almost hits him. He pulls it very strongly and the invisible monster also gets pulled down from the tree.

What he caught was a long pinkish tongue and at the end of that tongue was the monster, something similar to a chameleon. That's why it can turn itself invisible, similar to a chameleon. But its invisibility is obviously much better than normal chameleons because it uses magic.

Its invisibility disappears immediately after Indra slams it down to the ground. This monster really looks like a chameleon. But it has the size of an SUV car. It has big long transparent crystal spikes from the back of its head to the tip of its tail.

"Hmm? I can't let go of this tongue. It's very sticky."

Indra's hand is stuck on the chameleon monster's tongue. Then it rolls the tip of its tongue to bind Indra's hands.

"Want to make me stay in my spot, huh? You're quite smart, aren't you?"

The other chameleon monsters in the trees also shoot their tongues at Indra. He blocks them all with his hands that can still move despite being held.

"Giving away your tongues to me, not a good idea buddy."

Indra grins as he uses his Lightning Magic on his hands. The lightning bolts electrocute the monsters' tongues and even travel to their bodies. They all get electrocuted and can't release their tongue because the lightning makes their tongues and bodies stiff, so they can't get away.

He then pulls them toward him and starts beating them while they can't move properly. They are much tougher than C-Rank monsters, so Indra needs to attack them quite a lot to kill them. But they are still not difficult to kill because they can't move.

"Heh, B-Rank monsters are really worth the effort."

He gained a lot of XP after killing the B-Rank monsters and finally reached level 75. Now all his stats are above 100, so he considers himself an official A-Rank. He could already be an A-Rank before, but he made a threshold for himself, which is having all stats above 100.

His intelligence stat is almost 200 which he thinks should be close to an S-Rank Mage. He never met an S-Rank, so he doesn't actually know how great the magic power they have is. So he makes his own guess and thinks that S-Rank Mages should have at least 200 intelligence stat points.

Or if what's counted is MP, then they should have at least 100 thousand MP for S-Rank Mages. Well, Indra can only make guesses without an official ranking system that's categorized using a specific device. He also can't see others' stats and can only sense their total power, so he doesn't really know how these stats work when deciding awakeners' ranking.

"Well, there's no rush. I can learn about it in the future when the device has been invented and I can already show myself to the public."

There's no need for Indra to think about it too much for now, so he stops thinking about it and continues his hunt. He just needs to get as strong as he can.
