When Zemin turned toward the approaching aura, he saw the second-worst thing that could've happened. Angor, using his remaining alive two subordinates as a distraction, charged at full speed toward the demonic base entrance.
The Exemplars—a couple fewer than there were before—were too slow to stop him, thanks to a wall of choking miasma that captured several of them.
"The other side, too!" Zemin shouted, although by now others have noticed Angor as well.
The demon grinned, showing a row of dagger-like teeth, and for an instant, his eyes met Zemin's. It could've been just an accident, but Zemin was ready to swear that Angor was pleased, delighted even, to see him.
Zemin suppressed a shudder and raised his sword toward the bigger threat. His gun was useless now, with no Psi-charged bullets, but with a sword he would at least be able to block.
"Slow him down! Others will catch up soon!" Jagger commanded.
